If you make fun of a person with a "disability"
Hello, I want to talk about this kind of stuff where people treat other people with a disability like crap.(i know this isn't about destiny but this happened in a fireteam with some guy) I want to state (Please don't hate. hey that rhymed lol) i am 15 and have a stutter. Its not a once in a while thing. It happens all the time. Either if i don't have (crazy as it may sound) "momentum or I talk too fast. Even when i talk slow i stutter.(I have stuttering blocks which is where it feels like you have no air left and just --------)So to that kid who tries to impersonate me by p-----lay des-----tiny. Think about going out to eat in a diner or something and struggling to tell them what you want. The most pure form of embarrassment. And stuttering does nit mean you are stupid -_- tell that to my honors classes. And the final thing is people hurting people with disabilities. Real disabilities not stuttering. Such as the 15 year old beat up a 22 year old man with cerbal pawsy. You people make me sick. Is this what the world has come too? Our generation isn't looking too good so far....... If you made it this far thank you. I hope you have learned something about this problem. Needs to stop NOW.

8 RepliesYa that's not cool. Obviously the person making fun of someone with a disability has more of a disability than anyone. Than do not have respect for themselves or others, they are obviously not too smart and are just awful human beings. My friends brother is deaf, he couldn't raid for a long time because although he can hear with hearing aids, he cannot talk that well so he does not. He finally found a group for the VOG and he completed it just a few weeks ago. His first group on Crota, called him names and yelled at him because he wasn't talking even though he was taking direction and doing what they wanted. He's on XboX One if any one cares I can get his info, they then kicked him half way through The craziest part, he finally found a group to do Crota with. They are all deaf. They communicate through XboX message and signing on skype or reading lips...and these guys still complete VOG on hard and Crota...talk about skill, I think they have more skill than most players. So sometimes, you may be making fun of a person with a disability and not even know it. How many times have you kicked someone because they were not communicating with you. Let's all just be positive and understanding of each other

Seems like he's thinking about what to say next. Apparently he was made fun of all the time when he was a kid. As he got older he worked out alot, and people stopped making fun of him. People won't insult you if your a deezed out mofo, simply because the people who insult others are cowards.

Yeah, i kinda know how you feel to a point. Half the time i speak with my friends i sound like elmer fudd (my r's and w's get mixed up). that and along with colorblindness just makes this game a challenge. though in this game i have never had people make fun of it, they are more along helpful or just thought i was adorable. I hope you someday find these same people

I wouldn't make fun of someone with a disability. But I certainly won't hesitate to boot someone with an obnoxious voice from the pre-game lobby (or leave if I am not party leader), whether it is something they can control or not. When I play Destiny, it is to unwind and have fun. Not be annoyed. I would hope someone would do the same to me.

To the OP. Hey, my cousin sometimes stutters and I have met a few people who stutter often or a lot on specific words, when i meet someone knew i always suggest this. What they have found to help is tapping there fingers on their leg while talking and their arms are hanging there being arms. The tapping in rhythm or seemingly randomly like on a keyboard or piano serves as enough of a distraction for their brain to allow them to speak easier. Some also find that a slight voice change via manipulating their vocal cords also helps or singing. Take care. P.S. not sure if anyone else offered this advise, i didn't read the comments.
