whenever you wear a faction class item and were supposed to get vanguard it crucible rep - you will ONLY receive the factions reputation.
Instances where you would get any other reputation (iron banner, queen, Eris Morn, cryptarch) go towards that vendor

Thanks... I saw a video where the author presented the notion that factions were the quickest way to acquire legendary weapons... But whereas I already have some vanguard rep acquired... I think I should stick with that.

Faction rank up levels the fastest cause both vanguard and crucible go towards it.it's good if you trying to get one of the faction shaders probably one of the rarest shaders in game. The weapons and armor are kinda meh. And I think you can get a faction ship as well now.

Only in the sense that you can get double rep by doing both PvE and PvP bounties. Otherwise, that's just folly since they're all purchased with crucible marks. Get vanguard rank 2, minimum, before faction. You'll want that armor.

Yeah they are the fastest in the sense that with enough playing, and saving of resources (reputation, marks, commendations) you can guarantee yourself purchases of some of the best gear in the game. (But not THE best, those belong to raids and exotics) As opposed to hoping for random drops, which will help but you never know what you'll get. So yeah you could stick with vanguard of you want, but I'd still take a look at your options and see what items you generally like more both in performance and cosmetics. You start being able to buy armor at rank 2 and weapons at rank 3 for any of the 5 main factions

Well… Since I suck at crucible, I will take your advice and stick with Vanguard for a while. At least on a strike team I can draw fire away from my teammates if I can't do anything more.
