Yes there are purple engram drops that turn into weapons you can't buy or vendor weapons with different perks

  • Oh cool. What are some examples? My legendary was a Cryptic Dragon with Mulligan/Firefly instead of the defaults.

  • It's just random, take a vendor legendary and throw random perks on it and that's essentially how the reward system works. Your version sounds similar to the original in terms of the major perks, but the mods might be different. I got an auto rifle that by default has crappy stability, but my random roll gave a crap ton of stability perks that almost max it.

  • I don't have names off hand, but all the factions appear to have all weapon variants (hand cannon, pulse rifle, etc) even though they each don't offer for sale all types of weapons. Most purple engram drops are vendor weapons with random perks. The perks can make a huge difference. Firefly+Field Scout is an awesome PvE combo on a scout rifle. You can also get Firefly on a hand cannon.
