I was in a strike lobby today and was talking to these two guys, all level 31. I asked if they wanted to bang out the vault real quick cause we were bored and one of them said they never tried it before. I didn't even know what to say.
Your guys thought?
EDIT: I'm not here to diss anyone who hasn't completed the raid yet I'm just pointing out a major flaw in the game. This guy who has never even attempted the games biggest and hardest challenge outranks someone who has completed it countless times and grinded hours for a full set. This is not right imo.
I'm also not saying not to but vendor gear either. I had 3 30s pre DLC and got full sets of vanguard gear for all 3 classes. That's just how the game goes. I personally thought that was interesting to see someone at nearly max level that never did VOG. So it goes to show that level honestly means nothing I guess...
EDIT 2: So a lot of people in the comments have come to a consensus that they feel like bungie handed out gear to everyone. I personally believe that they should have had a higher level requirement to buy vanguard gear instead of 20. In a perfect gaming world the minimum level to buy gear should be 30. But obviously many people never got full VOG gear due to lack of time or just didn't have the luck. I think it should have been at least 28 or 29 tho as it is fairly easy to obtain that rank. This would have also prevented people from buying the game and going from 20 to 31 in a matter of hours. Also it would kind of force people to complete the VOG before taking on the next raid head on.
EDIT 3: I think some people are getting the wrong idea here. I never said anyone was forced to raid even thought it's the biggest piece of content in the game by far. I just pointed out a shortcoming on bungies part. I don't think that the biggest and most enjoyable part of the game is made obsolete with absolutely no incentives or reasons to play it anymore. I loved the VOG and even offered the poor guy to try it out for the first time. For some reason he had no interest in completing it at all and just left after the strike. I thought that was pretty weird to be honest.
EDIT 4: Well it seems like there are a lot of you guys who also are 30+ and haven't competed the raid yet. If you haven't done either VOG or CE I will happily help anyone do it (I'm on Xbox 360).

I can help with pretty much anything in game and get a team together very quickly if you guys want a raid team. Just leave you GT down below and I'll try and hit you guys up as soon as possible. For those on other consoles good luck finding a team and try to bang that out. I use the recruitment section a lot in the forums to find quick and good teams to raid with. Hope you guys are able to get that raid done!

5 RepliesI'm a 32 and haven't done vog. Mainly due to elitist guardians thinking anyone who doesn't raid is a scrub etc. I personally have only done ce. Tried to get vog teams together before but always get at least 2 dropping out when I say I'm inexperienced. At least I can solo big chunks of ce so I don't need to resort to dealing with idiots all the time.

1 ReplySome of its never get to play the vog because you need a team to play unlike pvp theirs no match making for it why do I have to find a bunch of winey kids just to play I won't even use a headset anymore choose I can't take the crying and what not why can't Twitter be matchmaking for its who don't want to deal with all the dumb stuff folks are crying about
-
1 ReplyI got invited to a raid group today before work, all 31's and one 32. Like four wearing glowhoo shader..none could stay alive to get past gatekeeper checkpoint on hard we wiped for thirty minutes before I turned off my play station ><
-
1 ReplyWell I started the same week crota got released, so I haven't fully done it
-
1 ReplyI've been trying to do it, the longest I went was Atheon. I am 31 but I keep on getting level 26-27 so theres no way I could do it. With my badluck, adding on that, I can't seem to find a group to help me for only one Raid.. Wish matchmaking was there sometimes :/

1 ReplyI met a 32 & a 31 who couldn't stay alive against supplicants. Couldn't kill an oracle to save their life.

Yeah, it's definitely a mistake on Bungie's part. And due to that, it's really not that tough to believe someone can get to that level and not have done the VoG. I don't blame any of the players at all. I hope this bodes well for us, and I'm cautiously optimistic: Bungie Won't Repeat Mistakes With Destiny Expansions http://m.ign.com/articles/2015/01/25/destiny-developer-says-mistakes-will-not-be-replicated?

1 Reply31 titan. Never done vog or ce. I want to. I never have more than an hour to play at any given time
-
1 ReplyAlready been said here, but it's not easy gathering a group of 6 to sit and play for long sessions when your in your 30's. I've done VOG once and half of crota but that was just this week finally
-
Yep had this the other day started playing lost 1. One of the guys brought in a friend who had 2 out of 4 pieces of crota gear so we thought nothing strange. Than we start going n hes amazed by the vog n says "yea ive never done this b4 i only did crota because i knew i could cheese the whole thing." I didnt even know what to say.

There needs to be different leagues in this game. The ones that can beat the hardest thing in the game should stand out overwhelmingly. Bungie went the other route to keep people who don't raid, playing. If you didn't raid, or couldn't find a team to walk you through it, then what do you have to look forward to? The answer was vanguard gear with the new dlc. With only a 1 lvl difference, it is not right. Why don't you have an Xbox friends? Are you a dick? Stop being a dick. Are you bad with directions? Stop that. People who are terrible at fps, or can't take directions, shouldn't be raiding in the first place. Aside that, the raiders all feel that it is not right that all the time spent in the vault, is now beaten with a few hundred vanguard marks. It's bull. Bungie are either too stupid, or they are looking at this from a sales aspect, and If that is the case, they aren't working for us, we are working for them. We should get what we pay for. In all honesty we should be playing a beta before another dlc drops. I won't continue to pay for your garbage DL CRAP, just because you care about new players and their numbers more. They are trying to get more money by targeting new people. They have already gotten their money from the vets from launch, now they want the rest of community, and they will eat it up for a little while, and then they will be on these forums while we are all playing something else. It's a bad cycle.

I've done up to Atheon on easy/hard but never completed it. I've done Crota once on easy and only need a helm or chest to hit 32...
-
My gt is MultiClassGamer im not at home for the rest of the week but add me possibly so we can do something later
-
If they really lock content for customers that are unable to raid, the real system requirements for Destiny are 1 Destiny DLC, 6 identical consoles, 5 additional players, and 5 additional copies of the DLC. That's kind of like a Pocket Infinity and Invective bounty rolled into one.
-
I have never done it. Would love to, have 2 kids and a full time job + play sport (soccer and bball) 3 nights a week. Finding the time to learn and a group that can fit my timings has been tough. I have 3 x 30+ characters I play a fair bit. It's more finding a solid 2 hour block of time easier for me to sneak in 30 mins here and there.

Edited by Tha 7th Saint: 1/25/2015 9:54:08 PMJust did VOG with one 32 and three 31s that didn't know how to do it.
-
Join big groups on the groups page for finding other players to play with. Most aren't jerks, as long as you're honest and let everyone know you've never done it before, it's usually all good. Took me a while before I got into my first raid, but now I do it a lot. It's a ton of fun.
-
I just dont have the time or know enough people to complete the raid.
-
1 ReplyEdited by w4rpblade: 1/25/2015 6:26:47 PMI just did vog for the first time at 30 on friday. Now I'm 31 and want to try ce soon. I don't have the schedule to spend hours learning a raid when it comes out. It's nice I can level up my gear and not hold back a team when I do get the chance later. Btw 3 shards, 6 energy and Aetheons Epi! Now thorn wont suck so much to finish.
-
1 ReplyI haven't done VoG hard mode yet got to Atheon but half the team had to leave etc :/
-
-blam!- anyone who plays this game and hasn't beat VoG. -blam!- all of you. (Not because you suck, but because you are missing out) I played the shit outta VoG and it was the best video game experience ever. I worked hard for my two sets of full raid gear and my two mytho's. Not playing VoG is like playing this game having not played Halo. Know your roots. I also agree that you shouldve had to be level 30 to buy vanguard DLC gear or Crucible gear. Keep in mind that Iron Banner could get you to 30 so it isn't all about RNG.
