I was in a strike lobby today and was talking to these two guys, all level 31. I asked if they wanted to bang out the vault real quick cause we were bored and one of them said they never tried it before. I didn't even know what to say.
Your guys thought?
EDIT: I'm not here to diss anyone who hasn't completed the raid yet I'm just pointing out a major flaw in the game. This guy who has never even attempted the games biggest and hardest challenge outranks someone who has completed it countless times and grinded hours for a full set. This is not right imo.
I'm also not saying not to but vendor gear either. I had 3 30s pre DLC and got full sets of vanguard gear for all 3 classes. That's just how the game goes. I personally thought that was interesting to see someone at nearly max level that never did VOG. So it goes to show that level honestly means nothing I guess...
EDIT 2: So a lot of people in the comments have come to a consensus that they feel like bungie handed out gear to everyone. I personally believe that they should have had a higher level requirement to buy vanguard gear instead of 20. In a perfect gaming world the minimum level to buy gear should be 30. But obviously many people never got full VOG gear due to lack of time or just didn't have the luck. I think it should have been at least 28 or 29 tho as it is fairly easy to obtain that rank. This would have also prevented people from buying the game and going from 20 to 31 in a matter of hours. Also it would kind of force people to complete the VOG before taking on the next raid head on.
EDIT 3: I think some people are getting the wrong idea here. I never said anyone was forced to raid even thought it's the biggest piece of content in the game by far. I just pointed out a shortcoming on bungies part. I don't think that the biggest and most enjoyable part of the game is made obsolete with absolutely no incentives or reasons to play it anymore. I loved the VOG and even offered the poor guy to try it out for the first time. For some reason he had no interest in completing it at all and just left after the strike. I thought that was pretty weird to be honest.
EDIT 4: Well it seems like there are a lot of you guys who also are 30+ and haven't competed the raid yet. If you haven't done either VOG or CE I will happily help anyone do it (I'm on Xbox 360).
Lvl 32 Hunter

I can help with pretty much anything in game and get a team together very quickly if you guys want a raid team. Just leave you GT down below and I'll try and hit you guys up as soon as possible. For those on other consoles good luck finding a team and try to bang that out. I use the recruitment section a lot in the forums to find quick and good teams to raid with. Hope you guys are able to get that raid done!

It's part of keeping the game relevant. To use WoW as an example, when Burning Crusade came out the level cap was raised from 60 to 70. There were players who argued that people should have to level 60 raid content before progressing to 70, so those players would "have to do the same work I did." However, it wouldn't have worked and not requiring that injected new life into the game. Obviously, the scale of Destiny is much smaller, but imagine when Destiny's level cap is 40. Would you honesty expect players to do VoG to get to 30, Crota to 32, and so on before they "deserve" to be able to get to 40? It's a flawed line of argument in my opinion.

I have done vog once and was 31 when I did it. I know people seem irritated about non raiders getting 31 pretty easily. Would you rather grab an underleveled noob with blues or a 31 with purple guns? Lot easier to semi carry someone who isn't at a big gear disadvantage.
-
I still haven't finished VoG. Those that I started with never answer my messages or invites to continue on, so my Titan's cp just sits. And recruitment from the forums? Pffft, most of those people ask for adds and shit, then never effing play! I don't see how a 31 that's never done VoG is all that surprising, tbh.

3 RepliesYesterday in our Hard-Raid FT we had a guy (32) who had completed Normal twice just by cheesing and didn't know there was no chalice in Hard. He didn't know about the Ogre spawn room or to not kill the boomers. He also had no rocket launcher. Bit of a let down!

1 ReplyIt's not that hard to find a person like that. Tower gear is LL31. If you can buy it, then it makes running the raid obsolete.
-
1 ReplyYou can thank the great match making.

Bro that's nothing! I know a lvl 32 Christmas noob that hasn't even played VOG only CE. He said it was because of the lvl 30 gear being useless. I play for the experience not the rewards. And IMO the VOG armor set looks WAY COOLER than the CE armor ( except for crotas warlock helmet)

1 ReplyDid VoG hard last night and invited two 32's with glowhoo. They didn't know how to use the relic and proceeded to call us shit because we died for their faults.
-
5 RepliesThere is no point to play it. Bunjie practically killed it off

5 RepliesI'm 31, about 400 hours logged and never run a full raid. Would love to but have no one to do it with and now that most people know the raids like the back of their hands I'm actually embarrassed to go as I'll slow them down and probably get kicked.
-
Yeah, only part of the VoG I've ever done is the Atheon fight on hard mode. I'd really like to go through it fresh, but I don't know. I feel like someones gonna bust my chops whenever I admit that.
-
1 ReplyIt doesn't really surprise me, I've got a friend that has never attempted the raids or the nightfall myself. He never seemed interested when I asked him either.
-
That's kinderguardians from Christmas will give you. Had the same thing but on crota I wasn't host so I couldn't kick his scrub @$$. Never done a raid before when we were saying wipe he didn't understand and we said kill yourself and he swiftly responded kill yourself muthafuqer. 2 tries later I left.
-
2 RepliesWas I that person? Lol. I'm 31. Never raided once. I'd like to... But I lack time. And the lacking of matchmaking sucks.
-
5 Replies32 and not tried VoG yet. I'd like to do it though.
-
I also am a 31 that never did any raids. Potential 31 across all 3 characters too just missing plasteel on the Titan and need some minor grinding on the hunter
-
I have done bits and bobs of both raids but no completions yet.Not really interested in them.
