If you want to know what unbalanced looks like, I'll tell you read on.
Tonight I jumped onto Destiny. As soon as I do, I join one of my Destiny friends whom I play with almost every day (meaning 5 out of 7 days a week). The conversation is a bit choppy so, we go to set up a chat. By the time I can set up a room he sends me an invite from someone else's chat party. He asks me if I want to do the new raid(FYI, we raid together all the time). He says that they are at the final boss and asks me if I had done it before. I reply that I have done it one time before but that we didn't beat him. Then another voice (that I don't recognize cuts in and says, "Do you have Gallahorn?" I reply, "No" because I don't. He then says, (I can't tell if to me or to my friend) "Sorry man, we need to grab two more Gallahorn guys." (It's not mentioned but I know that my friend has Gallahorn) There is about 3 or 4 seconds of background talk. Then it flashes across my screen, "You have been kicked out of the party." The guy kicked me out because I don't have Gallahorn.
If someone like me can be screened out on account of not having 1 particular weapon, then that weapon is broken.
That's not a brag or conceit, it's simply a fact. I play 6 or 7 days a week since release date. I have 3 level 30 characters, now one 31 and two 30's since the DLC. I ran the Vault of Glass 35 times. I have 12 exotic weapons and 11 exotic armors, not counting duplicates. I fit squarely in the "People who play Destiny too much club". But because I didn't have that 1 weapon none of it mattered. I just wasn't lucky enough to get a Gallahorn so that means I'm second tier.
No other explanation makes sense. They know that Gallahorn creates a separate tier. Gallarhorn is too overpowered to be offered at random.
So fix it Bungie. I'm not the type to rage quit over something like this. I know people make mistakes and any endeavor as big as creating Destiny is going have some mistakes made. However, I'm not the type to keep playing and more importantly, to keep paying, If I'm going to be considered a second tier player because of the luck of the draw.
EDIT: Dec. 16, 2014, 12:40PM CST
I posted the below in response to someone's comment further down in thread, but no one reads that far. Some people are still missing my point and I thing the response I gave below provides some context to what I mean.
..................................
But the issue not the competence of the other team. The issue isn't whether or not you actually do need Gallahorn to beat Crota. The issue is that one particular weapon so stands out from the others that it has started to become a basis of inclusion in the minds of gamers. That's what I'm reporting.
And nerfing the weapon is not the only solution. The problem is if a weapon both is a basis of inclusion AND is randomly obtained. To fix it you only need to solve one of the two. Either make it readily available, or make other substitutes that perform equally and are readily available. If the basis of inclusion were for instance, "The Devil You Know" or I guess now, "The Devil You Don't" that would not be a problem even if it were OP, because everybody can get it at will. Or if it were Hawkmoon as the basis of inclusion, but Thorn performed well enough to be create a legitimate argument as to which was better that would be okay. Thorn is close enough and is obtainable by everyone willing to do enough bounties; therefore Hawk would cease to be used as a basis of inclusion.
But Gally is a non-bounty exotic, and you can't get most non-bounty exotics at will, that is a problem.

You should delete that dude from your friends list.
-
Stfu no weapon is overpowered you're just being a bitch
-
Ok ok your complaining because a group had a set standard and you didn't meet the requirements? That's called self entitlement, and sorry bud your not taking in any group. I have had requirements since VoG. You want to nerf a weapon that is strong because it's a rocket launcher based off you got kicked from a group for not having one. I recommend find a group who doesn't require certain items then try Crota. Just because your nancy ass didn't get in a Crota group doesn't mean we should attempt to nerf the Ghorn. Take your self entitlement to CoD
-
You clearly are not serious a out playing if you do not already own the jellyhorn
-
1 ReplyYour theory makes no sense...because one its not op ...Your reason for saying so is because you don't have one and you have crappy friends who have crappy friends and you got booted....hmmmm I would suggest you rethink you situation and thoughts

5 RepliesExotic dude

Edited by beta 3: 12/24/2014 2:53:49 PMI can't see the problem with Gjallarhorn, seems like you just have shit friends. Get a proper raid team together. Gjallarhorn is outstanding, but the only thing that needs nerfing is your shit taste in raid buddies. There are plenty of weapons to substitute against it. Ice breaker, unfriendly giant, Thunderlord, etc all have similar damage output. The problem was that you didn't make your damn case when they said they needed a Gjallarhorn. Don't get the only exotic that feels like a damn exotic nerfed, just because your "friends" are c*nts.

Is it just me or does it seem like he's angry becuase he doesn't have it
-
1 ReplyAlso get new friends who aren't -blam!-
-
You need to change friends. I would never kick someone who didn't have a certain weapon
-
What a horrible post.
-
2 RepliesIf your on xb1 I'll run it with you. Any rocket launcher will do if it has tracking. Message iii fear LLL and I'll inv u next time
-
Xur sells it and yes it's a tough weapon fact is you can still get into those groups with rocket launchers with cluster bombs usually ;) also parties will ask whether or not you have ice breaker to and can't use Ghorn with ice breaker but you can use hunger (or my unfriendly giant with cluster) and it if you don't have a viable argument for why you can play with them and your only argument is you tried and lost then why would they want you (note I'd play with ya as long as you can carry your weight)
-
The gh is op for sure. Stupid thing does like 4x the damage of the next closest rocket launcher. I don't understand why that one launcher can be THAT MUCH more powerful than any other exotic. Doesn't seem balanced to me.
-
Man, those dudes suck if they're relying on Ghorn rofl. Don't worry about it bud.
-
Stop bitching about something you dont have...if you had it you wouldnt be reading this
-
Why "officially"?
-
No its not.

2 RepliesIf your friend was a real friend he would've left the party with you. Kind of a dick move on his part to let his buddy get kicked while he stays in the fight simply over a rocket launcher. He should've left with you and helped you find a new group. Ghorn doesn't need a Nerf all other launchers need a buff. You must join the no nerf club. Buff things, don't Nerf. A rising tide lifts all ships.

5 RepliesFirst off, Gjallarhorn!!! Seriously dude, that is the only misspelled word that drives me up a wall. Second, now that the retārd in me is out of the way, my only joy(In Destiny) left is the fun of running around with Gjallarhorn, wrecking shit up. Just because you don't have it doesn't mean you can ruin it for anyone else. Please sir, I understand that one game hurt you, but don't take other people's joy and fun out of a game. Personally, when I go into lobbies without my Gjallarhorn equipped, Crotas end and all, I have never been asked if I have it, and only one person in my friends list does. Crota isn't that hard to kill, if they think it is, and need it. well they aren't very good at the game. Sorry but it's true. If your on Playstation I will go through with you, add me @ZLAYERZ50

It's kind of sad how you think anything that happens in a video game actually matters. Move on.

I do understand where you are coming from even though I have a ghally. I never get left out of raids because of it. People dont seem to understand that you can beat the raid without it. After many raids with the same party of people we have got to the point of being able to beat the raid without the ghally. You don't need to have the most op weapons you need to work together more than anything. We have beat crotas end with multiple people in the party being lv 29 or 28 and most people might think its because we have op weapons but it isnt. The reason is because we are just more experienced than others. Stop kicking people for not having the ghally and give them a chance they might even be better than you think.
-
Maybe he kicked you because he knew you were a whiner?

Edited by DEATH CHEETA32: 12/24/2014 5:05:28 AM1: Sounds like you have crappy friends. 2: Since we seem to want to make everything politically correct (PC), then let's nerf or buff everything, because someone got their feelings hurt. Lol. 3: Everyone doesn't have every exotic weapon, I don't have the gally, but I still do raids just fine. That's like me saying ban the vex because I don't have it and it's too OP in crucible. C'MON MAAAAANN

Edited by Charkleshaha: 12/24/2014 4:55:00 AMNo offense but I don't even have gjallahorn and I think you're nuts. Gjallahorn is the most useful thing in the raid. Just because you have shitty friends doesn't mean you get to call it OP.
-
Dude this is invalid, you have a sucky raid group if they are kicking you find new people. Also this is invalid because you can call every exotic op for a reason. Ghallijorn good boss launcher. Ice Breaker boss sniper unlimited ammo. Red death heals you. Bad juju unlimited shots. Vex op but fun. I guarantee you if you list just one exotic you have I can give a reason why its op. BECAUSE YOU KNOW WHY ITS EXOTIC. not legendary
