If by produce the same outcome you mean play the games that have been cross platform developed then yes... However they do not play them exactly the same.
Ps4 supported 1080p gaming out of the box. Xbox one (while my fav console) does not

Both consoles are decent. Neither console has had a good release of a flagship product that actually warrants upgrading to current gen.
