Is this the "10 year plan"?
Regardless how you feel about it, this is what's happening.
We buy the game, level up and gain rewards. We are told to become Legend. We invest our precious time into an often times unrewarding system in hopes to get said rewards. Once we get these rewards, we spend more time leveling them and making them better because that's what we wanted.
A few months later some DLC drops.
We are told that out of all the content we just spent our time obtaining and leveling will be getting pushed to the side besides the selection of exotics we've obtained (which we can continue to level).
Now the DLC drops and we have to start over (not entirely) and spend our time gaining new weapons and armor, not only because we want the new gear but because now we have to replace our old gear as well.
In 3 more months this process will start again.
When the second 'season' of DLC is announced and dropped, this will happen again.
When Destiny 2 releases... seeing a pattern?
After 2 years of playing this game are we still going to be using the SUROS and Gjhalahorn because those are the only viable options we've been allowed to keep?
What becomes of the VoG? There will be absolutely no point in playing it. Why? Because who wants to farm for gear that does below average damage?
The same thing goes for Krota. No one will play it when House of Winter releases.
Many people said the game was lacking content but instead of adding content, they are replacing content.
This is their 10 year plan?
We could stop playing now and come back in 6 years and be on top of the food chain in a couple weeks.

Coming back to this thread 6 months later and still surprised as to what's still true and to what's changed in order to retain/bring back users...

I can't say anything about the 10 year plan. But in the datamined information it does state there is a level 32 version of the VoG, which I am assuming will be released with house of wolves. Which could mean we will finally get the second tier raid stuff.

Haha you just said it takes ages to lvl up then you say leave it and come back in 6 years then it would only take 2 weeks to be back at the top, if you don't like they way it is then stop playing, no one has wasted time on this because it's a game, games are fun if you aren't having fun leave

They accelerated over time in wow. Gear tiers are closer to three months now.

9 RepliesOr they could have said all together that your exotics that you have found now are worthless when the new DLC drops...I like the route they are going because now the exotics will be useful and to me from what I've read it won't take long at all to upgrade them once again

All legendaries except the new raid gear will still require ascendent materials which are best farmed in the VoG. The new raid will give a new material only good for thats raids items. VoG will still be relevent for said materials as its the beat way to get them.

13 RepliesYou've obviously never played an MMO. That's how they work. Look at WoW for instance. As soon as they release an expansion you get better gear from random quests than the gear you spent months raiding to get. It's how MMOs work. It give the game the ability to be replayed.

3 RepliesI truly don't get what you are saying Here are 3 scenarios 1- you are a level 30 (congrats) on Tuesday you can start raiding Crotas end to start getting loot drops that will ultimately level you up to 32...profit 2-you are a lower level, if you are 29 on Tuesday you can buy the piece of 30 light gear you are missing and be level 30 and raid Crotas end for gear that will make you 32...profit 3-your level is lower than 29 so it will take you a bit longer but you to can buy vendor gear that will make you 30 so you can raid Crotas end..profit Of course VoG gear will be come obsolete that's the point of dlc and expansions it's how a LOOT BASED GAME WORKS End rant

7 RepliesCan't get my warlock to 30 from 29 because NOBODY is running through normal and all the 30's are too good to take a 29 even though I have maxed everything including gally lol. And the new dlc hasn't even dropped. I have 2 30 hunters btw. It's ridiculous

Yup. It turns out that the point of Destiny is to actually like playing the game. Sure, you could come back in 6 years and catch up quickly, but it also means you didn't get to play for 6 years. Which is more appealing to you? Shooting aliens in their face-parts, or knowing that the number next to your name can't get higher?

My guess is VoG will get a new lvl of difficulty and with it higher lvl gear.

Yeah. That's how grinding based MMO type games work. I quit WoW during WotLK, came back during MoP and maxed out my character.

4 RepliesWoah bro you figured it out, destiny is a game where you continually get new better gear to replace old gear. But it's okay because unlike many games of this kind, and despite what people who are ranting and raving are saying, your current gear WILL NOT BE USELESS. The only thing that your current gear won't be effective on is the level 33 raid because everything else is still based around a level 30 max, except if you want to do the VoG on the new hardest difficulty.

I wish the wouldn't have increased the level cap so soon and just added more exotics and raid gear to give us some variety to choose what we want to wear. One raid set for 30 and one set for 32 is kinda lame imo
