Regardless how you feel about it, this is what's happening.
We buy the game, level up and gain rewards. We are told to become Legend. We invest our precious time into an often times unrewarding system in hopes to get said rewards. Once we get these rewards, we spend more time leveling them and making them better because that's what we wanted.
A few months later some DLC drops.
We are told that out of all the content we just spent our time obtaining and leveling will be getting pushed to the side besides the selection of exotics we've obtained (which we can continue to level).
Now the DLC drops and we have to start over (not entirely) and spend our time gaining new weapons and armor, not only because we want the new gear but because now we have to replace our old gear as well.
In 3 more months this process will start again.
When the second 'season' of DLC is announced and dropped, this will happen again.
When Destiny 2 releases... seeing a pattern?
After 2 years of playing this game are we still going to be using the SUROS and Gjhalahorn because those are the only viable options we've been allowed to keep?
What becomes of the VoG? There will be absolutely no point in playing it. Why? Because who wants to farm for gear that does below average damage?
The same thing goes for Krota. No one will play it when House of Winter releases.
Many people said the game was lacking content but instead of adding content, they are replacing content.
This is their 10 year plan?
We could stop playing now and come back in 6 years and be on top of the food chain in a couple weeks.
[EDIT]
Coming back to this thread 6 months later and still surprised as to what's still true and to what's changed in order to retain/bring back users...

With other games it's a week or two of gameplay and on to the next. Within 3 months this game has put out a dlc come Tuesday to refresh the game and advance it. Yes what was promised to us was not fully delivered and you make valid points, but really a game like this trying to blend the mmorpg and fps genres I think is doing a fair job at keeping a lot of people happy with the game. So yes in my opinion this is a good start to a 10yr plan. Because if everything is set and done too much too soon it will be another game you will trade into gamestop for something else. This was just my opinion and in no way is it meant to bash you or your opinion, just stating my point of view.

9 RepliesEvery piece of armour & every weapon should be upgradable to legendary level. By making only a few armour legendary/exotics they are limiting the individuality of the characters. Everytime i see level 30s they basically look the same, the armour & weapons are too limited. For example the khostov is the 1st gun you get, imagine if you could upgrade from a white to a green to a blue etc, with different perks becoming available with each level. The same could be done with the armour. It would make alot more armour combinations available & the game better imo. wont happen tho so its just a pipe dream.

Well seeing as you can only do raids once every week, people will still play VoG
-
Same reason people run Molten Core in WoW. The dungeons/raids get new difficulties (Bungie already said VoG will have a new higher level) with new rewards and people run the old versions for classics they never got. Also leveling exotics is pointless now since you can just buy an upgraded version. Would have liked to see them make it so you have to max out lower version before upgrading. Or a continuous leveling. Both would have been better

6 RepliesStill have yet to see any of the scrubs formulate an argument that isn't based on WoW... Destiny =\= WoW

9 RepliesDoes everyone realize that the 1 new strike, 1 new raid, 3 missions, and 3 pvp maps is all the New content that youll see until Fall 2015. We are all going to finish our Crota raid sets in a month or so and put the game on a shelf. Ya we might do a guild pvp night every once in a while. But even the hardcore players are gonna be off enjoying other games. The content just wont sustain a daily player base. Will people return Fall 2015 ? Depends if Bungie reads the forums and listens. Theres a lot of time for people to forget about Destiny. If all people remember are the weapon nerfs and bugs that never got fixed they wont return. 10 years.... out of this game ??? Some ones delusional. An expansion this size every 3 months and sure theyll keep interest for a year or 2. But they put 9 months of nothing after an expansion this small... Destiny killer

Every loot based game does this
-
3 RepliesYou obviously never played wow before.....no one still plays the original raids, unless they just want the achievement. I imagine it will be the same for destiny.
-
2 RepliesExactly. 10 years worth of bending you over
-
5 RepliesI don't know about you, but I'm excited for 2 raids a week lol.

5 RepliesEdited by abelsinh: 12/7/2014 7:24:58 PMThis is exactly like every other loot based game out there is. At least we have an option to keep our gear relevant in this one...

8 RepliesYou need friends who are physically active and outgoing. You playing video games all day is not good for you.
-
Edited by TheWiscoBadger: 12/7/2014 7:18:57 PMMost people will continue to complete the raids just for the free mats and possible exotics.

10 RepliesI agree with ya 100%. Now after you post this you'll get a bunch of stuff about people saying this is what mmo's are like. but they never elaborate on how eliminating the old gear is a good thing for destiny. They also can't explain how adding additional elements like allowing us to relevel old legendary gear is a bad thing. We still get new content and and new gear so someone please explain to me how adding more options to play destiny is a bad thing for the game.

1 Reply10yr contract = 10 yr plan..good, bad, or ugly.
-
That seems to about cover it to me...
-
1 ReplyPlp act like they don't upgrade they phone every year for the newer model & get rid of their old one
-
1 ReplyI am about to use a term many will not be familiar with, "Power creep." This is Bungie's "solution" to dealing with it. If you're curious what it is look it up.
-
15 RepliesThis is why i would love the option to fully refund my $90 Digital Collectors Edition. Of Course they will never offer refunds on this since the majority of people who bought this game would get there money back as they thought the game would be what bungie spent 2 years promising it would be. However this is not the game that was advertised to us. But i promise you that when they release Destiny 2 following the 2 planned dlcs for Destiny 1 i already regrettably payed for i will not spend a single penny on it or any game that has the word Activision anywhere in the credits. I foolishly believed and hoped that it would be different with Bungie but that was pretty stupid in hindsight since Activision makes it's billions off exploiting peoples hope.

1 ReplyYeah, Pokemon never had any plan when it came out and now it will be alive longer then the average human, I believe. I agree, ten years is a bold statement and if Vegas has a betting line I'm going all in on the under.
-
7 RepliesYou lost me at
We invest our precious time
Your time when you are playing a video game is not precious. It it was, you'd use it for something else
-
3 RepliesI'm guessing you have never touched an mmo in your entire life. This is literally how 95% of mmo games work.
-
2 Replies2 raids? I'll be playing both thanks 6 a week on all my characters hell Yeah
-
This is how every rpg works and all have series in the genre... Seriously. You pay cuz the gameplay is awesome or you quit cuz you don't get enough of it... The end
-
3 RepliesYou clearly havent played many mmo's. Welcome aboard.
