threatened by iron banner gear?
Question.
Why are some of you 30s threatened by iron banner gear? Why is cheesing the VOG better than actually winning in PvP? Is it because people can actually get to 30 AND have to be good at PvP (because many thirties are terrible at it)? Or is it something else.
Ultimately, there isn't any reason to hate on 30s with IB gear. It looks better than the raid gear. that's for sure.
EDIT: So many of you have answered me with a wealth of knowledge. Most of you have given a fair and solid answer. Some people who are only a high level due to IB gear say they are experienced in the raid, but in fact, they are terrible and uneducated on how to complete the raid.
There are two things. lvl 30 raiders who feel as though they are superior because they run the raid three times a week and then wait merely because they have to wait longer than people did for IB gear. Then, there are the IB 30's and 29's that lie about their raid experience and drag their team down.
Seriously? Why lie about your raid experience? Are your egos so deflated you need to boast about how you're "A pro at the raid"? If you say "I've never Done the raid" your group will direct you what to do.
Also, The 30's who think they are better than the rest or every "fake" 30 they see you are just as bad. Self esteem needs a boosts by believing you are better. Terrible. Also, no you aren't that good. Last night, a couple buddies of mine played skirmish with a team of all 30's with 100% raid gear and weapons. We DESTROYED them. 10000 to 2400. Raiding does not make you superior in any way.
If someone is lying about raid experience that's on them. If someone cheeses the raid, that's on them. Not on all of us.

4 RepliesI think Iron Banner armour shows more skill and determination than Raid Gear. Besides Raid Gear will be around forever, Iron Banner was an event, temporary. It takes more determination to get LVL 30 armour in this small time period, while you can take more time to get Raid Gear. There's no - "Ah we can just get it next week!" With Iron Banner armour. I think raiders would be feeling a mix of emotions: Jealousy, anger, 'omg nerf Iron Banner, iz too OP', and would be feeling intimidated. No offense or disrespect, but I can tell this is what some Lvl 30 Raid Veterans think and feel.

If I had to choose which was the worst between the two. I'd choose Detriments/Full teams > RNGesus Now please, go ahead and check my character looking for IB gear. While you're at it. Tell me what shader I have on.

I got my iron banner boots and gloves but I suck at pvp. You don't have to be good at pvp to get them you just have to grind.

I was already level 30 but I still picked up the arms for my Hunter and titan because they look bad ass. Also I won't look like every other level 30 clown out there.

4 RepliesJust got the IB boots to get to 30,never would drop in the raid for me.Decided to grab the gloves to give better reload for auto rifles(mostly use Ice Breaker so no need for faster special weapon reload). Of course wouldn't you know after getting the IB gear the very next raid got both the boots and the helmet.

why wear my raid boots when my exotic chest has carry more heavy? why wear raid gloves when I like using ARs and scouts faster reload yes please? I don't see the big deal, I myself don't really like the raid I've done the raid, know who to beat the raid and can use the relic ect. Im not level 30 yet cuz I don't play the raid every week im propyl just go for a chest raid and exotic helm to bring myself to 30 but if they had the option of all pvp gear 30 as well id pick the pvp gear to get 10x over the raid. that's just how I like to play I can only grind the same missions and patrols over and over. but pvp keeps this game fresh for me.

Only difference from raid and IB gear is the perks that come with the gear. Raid gear has specific perks that only work while playing the raid (perks that come in handy and help the team greatly) IB gear has perks that are mostly useful in pvp. But using IB gear in a raid (although it's not much of a difference) is not helping out your teammates. all players should think about getting both since they do play a key roll depending on the type of game you're playing.

I dislike that every person who has IB gear always accuses raiders of cheesing, it's like you're trying to justify your gear choice. Sure, some people cheese the raid, but it's not fair to accuse everyone for it. The raid vs IB 30 debate is -blam!-ing stupid. My first 30 is all raid gear, my second 30 has an exotic piece and IB boots. WHO GIVES A -blam!-? 30 is 30. No one is any better than anyone else, maybe IB guys don't like to raid... I sure as hell -blam!-ing hate the crucible, so I raid for my fun and have gotten the gear. I don't see why everyone can't just be happy for their level 30 brethren for making it to the top of the tower...

2 RepliesIn my opinion either way it was handed to you, you could get carried through the VoG and get lucky raid drops and have full gear even if you didn't contribute much at all, cuz it's random. Just like you could get carried in IB and still rank up.

To be fair iron banner had alot of crutches in its own.
