Beware Of Iron Banner Lv 30s
Be sure to check out the gear of the randoms added to your raid team. We have a lot of new 30's with IB gauntlets and Legs looking to do the Hard Raid Mode with Zero to NO HARD RAID EXPERIENCE.
I unfortunately had the opportunity to run not 1 but 2 endless raids with IB level 30s who just tried to run and gun Atheon. IB 30's who didn't know how to use the relic. They refused to listened to strategy.
CONGRATS TO ALL THOSE WHO HAVE FINALLY ATTAINED LEVEL 30. (Now run the raid on normal endlessly until you know it like the back of your hand!!! And then attempt the raid on hard mode, so you're not wasting everyone's time)

This post isn't meant to discredit those who tolled hours on hours to reach level 30 with IB gear. I just want everyone to know that being 30 doesn't automatically make you good at raiding.

Gear is not limited to just Legs, chest, arm &, helm. Gear also includes weapons and space ships. Other than raid armor these things can be used to gauge a players hard raid experience.
And for the all the players that have commented gear shouldn't matter it's all about skill. Skill only works when you have the experience to back it!

I just wanted boots to get to lvl 30 but after 6 attempts of doing the raid RNGesus was not nice to me. I just want to do the raid on hard so I can get the helm.

5 RepliesAnd just because they have IB gear doesn't mean they can't raid. I've beat normal raid several times, and played parts of hard (the groups could never beat Gatekeeper or Atheon). IB gave me the one piece I needed to hit 30. I hope people don't discredit me just because chance wouldn't give me a piece of armor.

1 ReplyTBH, who cares if they have IB gear... you shouldn't judge on armor as much as you should judge their weapons. If they have maxed Gjallarhorn, Icebreaker, Vex Myth, Atheon's Ep, VoC, Fatebringer, Corrective, Foil, etc, etc.... would you not take them because they have IB gauntlets? Regardless, what's wrong with just taking someone new to hardmode and teaching them as long as they are opened to learning? Too many people are intimidated by this elitist attitude and won't even attempt finding a group.

On the flip side, I have 8 regular players that I play with and raid with, including my brother. However, there are plenty of times where we have to pick up multiple randoms from destinylfg. A good raid leader should be able to explain each of the roles to newcomers in a fashion that they can understand and then have a little bit of patience for them to master. We have never put together a group that hasn't been able to clear the raid in a reasonable amount of time. And I never ask for players level of experience when picking them up from lfg. The only thing I require is at least lvl 29 with 300 weapons. The point - if we have a whole bunch of new hard mode raiders coming in, but they are level 30, it should be EASY to teach them what to do. They are not going to incur all the extra damage an inexperienced 29 would.

2 RepliesJust ask people before you start playing what level of experience they have, and if they don't know how to do something then explain it to them. If you get someone who doesn't know what they're doing and won't listen to instructions, that's what the kick function is for, boot that fool out of the fireteam and find someone else who either knows what to do or is willing to learn. Really this Iron Banner route to 30 is all good, the perks on the armor aren't as good as raid gear so Raid people get to feel special still while all the people who couldn't get to 30 before are now able to, which gives everyone more 30's to play the raid with (and they won't all be scrubs who don't know what they're doing).

I've killed Atheon on hard twice (for now until it resets) as a 29, and I dismantled my raid boots for the Iron Banner leggings, because they look better in my opinion. I'm semi-experienced and I use IB gear lol

Yes. I agree. I will hit 30 with my IB gauntlets in the next day or two. But I've only run the normal raid a few times and never run the relic. I wouldn't attempt the hard raid yet. Just because you hit 30 doesn't mean you are ready for prime time. If you tell somebody your lack of experience and they are willing to teach/help you, good on them. But don't have people waste significant amounts of time because of your own inexperience. #knowyourlimitations #fulldisclosure

1 ReplyI have an IB level 30 Hunter as well as a full raid gear level 30 Titan. I was kicked from a fireteam yesterday because they saw I had IB gauntlets and boots and thought I didn't know how to raid. It's funny because I'm generally the essential relic user in any raid group.

Well, some Lv 30 use this IB gear to look different. I do know the raid and relic very good, even if i have an IB armor...

1 ReplyYeah but you also don't need to be level 30 to be experienced with the hard raid. My lock has all raid gear but after 15 hard runs my hunter was still missing boots. Why don't you check out if they can play and know the raid rather than judging by equipment. Also you find plenty of crap 30s with all raid gear who don't know how to do the hard raid.

4 RepliesBe sure to check your fireteam's gear before entering the crucible. Just because they are level 30 didn't mean they know anything about PvP. They may have gotten all of their gear from the raid. #kindatrolling

PVP your crap stats are proof of this, you're lvl30 and rubbish, this game is easy shooting at mindless adds, it's hard when the adds have intelligence and can shoot back.

4 RepliesThank you for the edit. I can agree with you now. I respect those who played Iron Banner and purchased armor. It took patience and time. However, it takes more than high stats for the hard raid. It takes both knowledge and skill.

4 RepliesAlright you jackass im a LVL 30 I have done the hard raid 15 times, I have all uograded raid armor for every armor slot but I use the IB boots because the make my intellect and discipline awesome and the look badass

As an IB rank 5, I actually agree with this. There's no reason but greed over need to delve in on the hardest pve content in the game with no experience. I was 27 before IB and 28 with after about 2 week's of play., hopefully tonight I can pop my VoG cherry on normal ;-)
