Beware Of Iron Banner Lv 30s
Be sure to check out the gear of the randoms added to your raid team. We have a lot of new 30's with IB gauntlets and Legs looking to do the Hard Raid Mode with Zero to NO HARD RAID EXPERIENCE.
I unfortunately had the opportunity to run not 1 but 2 endless raids with IB level 30s who just tried to run and gun Atheon. IB 30's who didn't know how to use the relic. They refused to listened to strategy.
CONGRATS TO ALL THOSE WHO HAVE FINALLY ATTAINED LEVEL 30. (Now run the raid on normal endlessly until you know it like the back of your hand!!! And then attempt the raid on hard mode, so you're not wasting everyone's time)

This post isn't meant to discredit those who tolled hours on hours to reach level 30 with IB gear. I just want everyone to know that being 30 doesn't automatically make you good at raiding.

Gear is not limited to just Legs, chest, arm &, helm. Gear also includes weapons and space ships. Other than raid armor these things can be used to gauge a players hard raid experience.
And for the all the players that have commented gear shouldn't matter it's all about skill. Skill only works when you have the experience to back it!

2 RepliesOkay, this makes no sense to me. First off, in order to hit 30, you need to have at least one piece of raid gear. Whether it's a chest piece or a helmet. If you've got the chest piece, you've at least run the raid on normal and if you've got the helmet, you've at least run the raid on hard. Rocking Iron Banner gear doesn't mean you've never run the raid, it just means you either like that gear better or you just never got lucky in the raid. Regardless, even before the Iron Banner, there were plenty of level 29s and 30s that were terrible in the raid and did all of the things you just listed. So, I fail to see how Iron Banner gear comes into play much at all.

Edited by TheyCallMeHodor: 11/24/2014 9:50:39 PMI hit rank 5 on my warlock and rank 4 on my titan to get the gear to get to 30 because I was having bad luck in the raid each week, I mostly seemed to get a weapon or shards the majority of the time so that is the only reason I did the iron banner. Iron banner gear does not make someone a shit player, those 2 runs you had were most likely shit players to begin with considering 'they refused to listen to strategy'. Its all about communication and team work. I understand where you're coming from though, just because you hit 30 doesn't mean you're ready for VoG hard mode.

1 ReplyI completed 20 hard raids with my hunter and never got boots or gauntlets. Did them all the way through too, only cheesed atheon the first time way back when I was a 27. Anyway, I got boots from the IB and exotic gauntlets from xur and now can be a 30. Please don't ask me to raid with you because you'll only slow me down and irritate me. Thanks.

1 ReplyJust because someone has IB raid gear doesn't mean they don't know what they are doing. Your an idiot for even bothering to post something so stupid to get attention. I have done the raid on hard about about 5 -6 times and never has a 30. I never struggled either. And cleared it no problem. Someone having IB gear means it will be easier for them in raid since they are not being held back by a lvl. Not that they will be useless.

7 RepliesYeah bro, sorry but this post is weak. Pretty I've ran the raid as much as you but have had no luck with RNG for my raid gloves or helmet. The banner was my way of breaking the curse and getting a 30.

I've run both normal and hard raid tons without getting that last piece of gear. Having IB gear does NOT mean you don't know how to do the hard raid. Just ask people if they know the hard raid and if they lie just block them. Simple as that.

I simply ask people if they have solid experience in Raid, I have raided every week since raid came out, and the only piece of raid armor I have received is the Helmet. Now I am 30, and look stylish too thanks to IB , and Raid is simply that much easier. But my skill is not less cause I have better looking gear than the rust colored lucky Raid scrubs. If people cant answer questions about raid that raise flags for me, but if they seem willing to learn, then I will take them anyways. But I don't raid with many randoms as it is.

I bought the IB gear because I wanted the scout rifle perks instead of special weapon reload speed (I use icebreaker for the raid) and extra heavy weapon ammo (doesn't stack with the Armentarium anymore so totally useless). Just because someone is wearing IB gear hardly means that they haven't ran the hard raid. I have no doubt I've ran the raid more than you have. Edit: Yep, just checked your Grimoire cards, I have.

Yeah I've run into a few that think lvl 30 means invincibility. I've hit 30 twice now on the same character. I traded out some raid gear for IB gear because I like the way it looks better and also the perks. Now if I could just get an IB helmet, I don't like the Cyclopes look.

I've kicked plenty of raid level 30's out of my hard raids because they got all their gear in 2-3 raids on normal. Their skill in the raid and experience level has NOTHING to do with their gear. I was a level 29 until got IB boots and I've beat the raid over 35 times between 5 different characters. Don't come in here spouting some ignorant bullish!t like that.

Their gear has nothing to do with their experience. I'm wearing the IB armor because I prefer how it looks, I have every piece of raid gear except the boots.

I played IB for the gloves. I know every aspect of the Raid, but only gotten to gatekeepers check point. It was 1 30 and then 5 29's. The 30 and 3 29's had crap weapons while I have the VoC, AE, Ice Breaker, Corrective Measure ALL up to 300. At level 29 I was at over 200 kills while everyone else was around 125. Due to the others being under powered, we gave up. Was not my fault. BTW.......There are SO MANY 30's out there that do not deserve to be. The majority of them, cheesed the Templar AND Atheon. You really will respect 30's knowing they got lucky drops from cheesing than someone grinding and killing for hours on Iron Banner?

I do my main raid runs with people I know and trust, the rest of the week I just help out anybody who needs help regardless of being new, old, or just needing to run the hard. I don't worry myself with how others play because when it matters I play with people I have good synergy with. Everything else is just time killing.

I can agree with most of this because I had a lvl30 random join me the other day and didn't even know how to get to the confluxes from the first chest after the door. But you can't always judge at a glance. I've beaten the hard raid a lot and I know what I'm doing but the boots refuse to drop on my warlock so I grabbed them through IB to be more useful in the hard raid. I have 4 full sets of raid gear on my Titan which is great and all but my luck with my warlock is subpar.

8 RepliesI have no hard raid experience. I've done the normal raid multiple times. Unfortunately raid boots or gauntlets never dropped for me so this iron banner gear was a real gift for me. I'm hoping now to have a crack at the hard raid for the first time next week. But of people like you aren't willing to take on people like me with zero experience, should I even bother? I mean everyone has to do it for the first time at some point.
