Beware Of Iron Banner Lv 30s
Be sure to check out the gear of the randoms added to your raid team. We have a lot of new 30's with IB gauntlets and Legs looking to do the Hard Raid Mode with Zero to NO HARD RAID EXPERIENCE.
I unfortunately had the opportunity to run not 1 but 2 endless raids with IB level 30s who just tried to run and gun Atheon. IB 30's who didn't know how to use the relic. They refused to listened to strategy.
CONGRATS TO ALL THOSE WHO HAVE FINALLY ATTAINED LEVEL 30. (Now run the raid on normal endlessly until you know it like the back of your hand!!! And then attempt the raid on hard mode, so you're not wasting everyone's time)

This post isn't meant to discredit those who tolled hours on hours to reach level 30 with IB gear. I just want everyone to know that being 30 doesn't automatically make you good at raiding.

Gear is not limited to just Legs, chest, arm &, helm. Gear also includes weapons and space ships. Other than raid armor these things can be used to gauge a players hard raid experience.
And for the all the players that have commented gear shouldn't matter it's all about skill. Skill only works when you have the experience to back it!

1 ReplyI've run into plenty of useless 30s in the VoG BEFORE iron banner who got lucky in the normal raid or had their hands held through hard. It's impossible to judge the abilities of a player through their gear alone, although maxed useful weapons is generally a good sign. Bottom line: 30 does not equate to raiding skill, whether they're using IB gear or not.

2 RepliesI've run the hard raid as a 29 and completed it with my hunter, just waiting on a chest piece or helmet. My Warlock, however will be a lvl 30 because of IB...my Titan is a 28 and has no raid gear. My point, whether you are a 30 from the raid gear or IB gear doesn't mean you are good at the hard raid. You can become a 30 from raid gear and have never done the hard raid

1 ReplyTalk about a double standard, you can cheese the whole raid for gear, but when someone actually works for gear in IB they're useless? I bet a team of 29s that actually grind for their gear in VoG could clear it faster than your team. Pull your head out of your ass. Git gud™

1 ReplyIs it me or this post is retard? What if I bought the IB boots because it as different perks, so now I can change my play style like I want? What if I bought them because i'm a collector and I want every single thing that can be "rare" or different in the game? It was the only gear missing to get me to lvl 30, and you know what? Just got the raid boots after buying IB boots. I know exactly how and what to do in the Raid and i'm pretty good at Hard. It's not because you have all your Raid Gear that you don't suck in the raid!

I was 30 before the IB and I have enough gear to have 3 30's. Why don't i... I don't feel like grinding all the materials. I'm wearing this IB gear because the gear IS MORE PRACTICAL IN PVE THAN THE RAID GEAR!!!!!! Auto rifle ammo and auto rifle reload... I don't need special weapon reload (icebreaker) and who uses heavies in PvE outside of the raid or nightfalls. It takes 2 seconds to switch gear. So get off your high horse and just play the damn game. If they don't listen "you know what the shape of Italy is" them

Lol you said [b][i]zero to no[/i][/b] hard raid experience. They have to have done normal raid to get at least 1 piece. People that have never done the hard mode have to eventually do it to have done it. Who gives a -blam!- how they got their gear.

2 RepliesYou forgot to mention to see if they are wearing the hard raid helmet if they have IB gear. It's at least proof that they've run the hard raid before. This is my case. I ran it many many times as a 29. Only ever got the helmet twice and the greaves twice out of all the times I've run it. So I bought voidfang vestments and then hit the grind for the IB boots. I deserve my level thirty. Now I can help my friends do the hard raid much more easily than before. Of course I need to get home and level my boots first

4 RepliesCan't we all just get along? It's frustrating I know, ever had to kick someone because they were so drunk they couldn't survive the basic jumps down to the Templar? It happens man. I don't knock anyone who is a 30, they played the game to achieve it. I don't even raid with random people much anymore, however on occasion with five level 30s we take a level 27 or 28 with us if their a friend outside of destiny.

Yea man, this whole post is dumb. I've played with lvl 30's before who suck at the raid because they only do a then checkpoints and got lucky, where I've ran the raid dozens of times across 3 different characters on normal and hard (except my titan, he's only been on normal) and i only have 2 peices of raid gear. -blam!- rng and -blam!- you man, I worked my ass off like so many others trying to get raid gear but in pushed me to 30. So I'll remeber your name, I'm sure you're good at the raid, but your train of thought is shit.

2 RepliesJust stop...and get your head out of your @ss. Spoken like someone who spent ABSOLUTELY no time in IB. There were so many raid-experienced level 29s competing in the IB this week, it was nuts. In fact, for the first two days, every loading screen was basically a FLEET of raid ships flying in formation. If you haven't run into LOTS of players---regardless of level---who are uncomfortable using the relic, then YOU haven't been paying attention. Or have been so busy patting yourself on the back in delusions of your own superiority to notice. 1. Many people don't know how to use the relic, because their teams didn't require them to do so until after the patch. 2. Now they are reluctant to try, because people like yourself make what is already a ridiculously difficult and stressful LEARNING environment and IMPOSSIBLE one. Through your arrogance and impatience. Yest, being a level 30 DOESN"T automatically make you good at raiding. Nor did being a level 29 prior to this IB week make you BAD at it. But too many arrogant level 30s who misitnerpreted superior luck for superior skill, seemed to think so. So much so that I climed into IB---AS A NON-CRUCIBLE PLAYER----because I so no other reasonable alternative to getting to do the hard raid with my Hunter. character. So thick is the anti-29 bias. Especially against non-Sunsinger Warlocks.

Remeber, just because they're 30 and in raid gear, doesn't mean they're good. They just got lucky. At least with iron banner you worked for it, glimmer, rep, and bullets.

1 ReplySo are you just not gonna run the raid on hard with people with ib gear on? I prefer the ib gear, because it looks nicer and it works better for my scout rifle. Yes I understand that doin the raid on hard with people that have never done it sucks, but you cant just not accept em cuz of it not to mention the raid on hard is TOTALLY different then normal you can run it on normal as much as you want when you go to hard its a whole nother story. Though if theh dont listen f em.

2 RepliesOkay, this makes no sense to me. First off, in order to hit 30, you need to have at least one piece of raid gear. Whether it's a chest piece or a helmet. If you've got the chest piece, you've at least run the raid on normal and if you've got the helmet, you've at least run the raid on hard. Rocking Iron Banner gear doesn't mean you've never run the raid, it just means you either like that gear better or you just never got lucky in the raid. Regardless, even before the Iron Banner, there were plenty of level 29s and 30s that were terrible in the raid and did all of the things you just listed. So, I fail to see how Iron Banner gear comes into play much at all.
