Bungie gives us voice chat : No one uses it

Like really? There were so many complaints about it not being implemented in the game. Bungie listens and gives it to us, and no one uses it. There was only one guy I've seen with a mic so far, and he didn't even talk lol.. This community man... Edit: Whoa, I didn't expect this post to blow up with comments. Thanks for all the positive feedback guys! Edit 2: I would like to point out that Control is my favorite game type. So if I'm playing alone, the voice chat would really come in handy if people actually used their mics. Edit 3: Thanks for all your input guys. This post got HUGE on the forums. hope to see some of you in Crucible/Iron Banner. (I'm on PS3)

  • I never asked for it. It meshes with all game sounds, would be nice if they add some -blam!-ing sound options to complement their voice chat.

    • Ik right? I switched chat channels constantly during match because I thought it was broken, but nope. The entire lobby was full of a bunch of introverts I guess lol.

      • Never wanted it because I'm either in Party Chat while playing or I don't want to talk at the moment.

      • It should be on all chat by default. Instead if the other way around cause I kind of forget its there and I'm sure there's many people who do t even know it is an option now.

          • Its a shame really. I'm so sick of screaming into the abyss not to take A on blind watch. And I only play crucible very rarely besides during iron banner.

          • If you play by yourself it's a good feature. The thing is most people play with friends and party chat is much easier to use and has a higher voice quality, I will never use voice chat in-game.

            • I used it once in a strike. Fortunately I wasn't paired up with idiots. They were very nice. We talked about the Grimoire and Last Word and Thorn.

              • its kinda like the whole dark souls thing... the first game didnt have voice chat... then the second one came out it DID have voice chat but no one used it because people got use to it and conversed in different ways either through gestures or messages through PSN/Live

              • If I was playing I would talk but how many can even join that Team chat thing in the open world? I mean in GTA 5 for 360/PS3 up to 15. if this game can't even hit that benchmark then um- But they need to improve Comm and Group for most of us to return and a damn good story to keep us here. Period.

              • Give it time, more will start to use it. It's only been a few days, so that's not really a lot of time to set a precedent of not using chat. I'm sure some people are still completely oblivious to its existence. Give it till next month, if the majority hasn't started using chat by then, there's a problem.

Im sure plenty of people see the need or wanted chat in strikes and crucible, but me personally i was wanting tower and patrol proximity chat. as these are the places i need to be able to say "hey you wanna get together and do a strike or im looking to build a raid party want to join" once we have a raid group or strike group we could use party chat anyway as it doesnt have the game volume overpowering it. at this point of the game almost everyone knows how to do a strike and doesnt need chat during the event. but meeting people that want to do the same thing is still a choir thats not enjoyable. wait let me go in the other room hop on my computer and search for a raid group. oh wait i have a app let me put down my game and play with my phone for a half hour. im sure there are people that will disagree with me that they dont want to hear kids running around the tower. yes this can be true but this is why there is a option to turn it off if you dont want it you dont have to have it. the tower or crucible you can always turn it off. EDIT: this was a afterthought, adding voice in matchmade strikes is like the game deciding this is the person you are going to be working with for the next 30 minutes(yes i know you can do a strike in 5min cause you are a pro super badass genius hyper glorious gamer and a half) but lets be real a strike can take a half hour sometimes. now if this person is a tool you cant stand then voice was useless. meeting up in the tower gives you the ability to decide if this person is a tool or this one is cool i can spend the next half hour with them. this can also lead to friend making for further matches. so as i can see voice added in strikes MIGHT be useful, i see using chat in the tower to build your own groups would almost always make for a well communicated group in the event. Because you decided who you were going to be going into battle with instead of being randomly matched.

                • I see so many people asking why communication is near scary in low level events. It's not. Am I crazy for thinking that a game built around social interaction would have players interested in chatting? Even if just to shoot the shit while playing.

                • I actually used it the other day while running the Phogoth strike with some randoms. One of the guys kept going back in the entry causing the extra Knights and Wizards to spawn and wipe him out. I threw on my headset, let him know to stay out of there, and everything was gravy. No amount of "pointing" would have helped in this situation, it was actually quite nice.

                  • I never even noticed you COULDNT speak to match made players. I never wanted/needed to speak to them. Why would you need to communicate in a LVL 24 strike? There was nothing stopping people adding people to their own party chat, so didn't see a need for this chat garbage to be implemented in the first place.
