what I just experienced is the full reason why i refuse to raid with lvl 29s
we just just did the raid.
three lvl 29s
three lvl 30s
eveyr wipe was caused by a lvl 29
they deal so little damage that we made a habit of sending a 4th person into the portal to finish off oracles because of how little damage they do.
lvl 30 raid is lvl 30 for a reason

Me only 29 completed raid hard with 2 lvl29, 3 lvl30 and guess what? Other one only lvl27. Only one wipe at atheon.

ive never had a problem with any raid and im only 29 because bungie only wants me to have 100 of each weapon and no 30 raid gear, i am ridiculously good though.

I've rocked 28 hunter few times with no problems.. i would not spend shards unless it was raid gear lol. your team or who ever your playing with may not have fully upgraded weapons that make a huge difference... but it also skill. Man chill play with different people

I just did the raid yesterday with 4 29s and 2 30s and we breezed through it. When I was 29, I took down the oracles faster than the actual 30 could, using Fatebringer. The only bad part is, a 29 [b]should not[/b] grab the relic.

I started running VoG hard mode at luck 28 with minor difficulties. It is more about knowing what you are doing and communication. A fireteam full of 30's is not necessary by any means.

8 RepliesAs a level 29, ive raided in a similar 3, 30's 3, 29's party and each and every wipe was caused by a 30 without maxed weapons. Myself running a maxed vision, icebreaker, and corrective had little to no trouble throughout the entirety of the raid.

Beat it last night with three 29s and three 30s if guns are maxed out and deal extra damage to oracles that helps plus coordination.

1 ReplyI agree with you completely there. I'm not level 30 yet and I will not do the raid on hard mode until I can get to 30. I think I saw either on another post or the destiny planet website that just being ONE level below the enemies causes you to deal 33 percent less damage to them. I was raiding with a group who had one of their members get to level 30 and now they think they can do the hard raid now lol I tried to explain to them that it doesn't matter how close you are to level 30 you are still doing reduced damage. I stopped joining their parties and as far as I know they can't get past the Templar lol

Im level 30 but i did it just fine with 3 level 29s last night, finished in 30 minutes, we killed Atheon on the second Times Vengeance. Mind you i have been raiding with these guys since the raid opened and we have completed it multiple times a week and we all know what to do and i have a Gjallarhorn which makes the whole raid so much easier. I feel like generalizing all 29s as bad is not fair because in this case a few bad apples does not ruin the bunch. Some 30s are just as bad and just got lucky. Everything about this game is easy but that doesnt mean everyone gets it.

7 RepliesThat doesn't sound like a issue of level 29s. That sounds like someone walking into hard mode without maxed out raid weapons. I've done gate runs in the Aheon fight on hard mode...and I've had no problems taking them out as level 29. Especially once I had maxed out raid primary and heavy weapons. Yes, you will do noticeably less damage and the time-to-kill IS noticeably longer without those raid weapons. But even that can be managed if you're dealing with a good player who is confident in their role. But you see the same thigns in the normal raid...and it has nothing to do with level. ...and everything about people not being confident about using the relic. One team---on normal---that I ran with, it was so bad that by the time we sorted out who was going to take the relic (I wound up taking it because everyone else ran AWAY from it), that when I jumped to attack the add below the platform I ACTUALLY HIT THE FIRST ORACLE AND BOUNCED SIDEWAYS. Inexperienced raiders are inexperienced raides....regardless of level. Raiders uncomfortable with using the relick are uncomfortable with the relic....regardless of level. The damage nerf 29 take on hard mode just makes those things harder to HIDE, than it is for lvl 30s. But I just laugh everytime I hear people act as if the only way to reasonably clear the hard raid is with level 30s.

A lot of people say that they are worthless and then a lot say that they run just fine with 29s I think the big thing I've noticed is that most of the time when someone says their team of 5 or 6 29s rocks is because it's a TEAM. Having people who play together regularly makes a huge difference and can help compensate for the level difference. Most random teams Im with even with mostly 30s struggles due to lack of team work. The point: running with 29s can work but they need to be a good team not just good individuals. Most of the time that doesn't happen when your just pulling people from LFG

Level does not translate to skill. As a 29 in hard raid I have done far better than some 30's.

If they do not have fully upgraded weapons them kick them. We had one 29 cause us to wipe everytime once found person was using a suros regime at 280 damage

Umm lvl 30 Titan, lvl 29 Titan, lvl 25 warlock. Done hard a few times with 1 lvl 30 and 5 lvl 29s. We completed it so I'd say you just had a bad team... The level difference does make a difference but the players skill does too

I am a level 29 warlock sunsinger, I have a Gjallahorn and a maxed set of raid weapons. I usually out perform most level 30's in a hard raid simply because I have done 11+ raids and most people get to level 30 haven't done it as many times as I have, they have just been blessed by RNGsus. I am just not as lucky as them. (Freaking raid boots man....)
