someone else on these forums brought up an interesting point i would like to share. grinding for level 30 doesn't really have value with the new DLC coming out. as we all should know, the normal mode for CE (Crota's End) is level 28 with the hard at 32.
so if you are level 30 you shouldn't be doing the hard version (its equivalent to a level 28 doing the VoG hard). so regardless if you are level 30 or 29 you'll need to complete the normal version to get the new raid gear which will let you reach level 31+
so is there a point to grinding for current raid gear? i mean i had no problem getting my main to 30, but i don't feel like putting in that much effort for my alts which i don't really care about...so should we procrastinate?
EDIT: too many of you keep pointing out the obvious damage/reduction bonuses. however doing the VoG normal was easy at 27, the CE normal will be easy at 29
EDIT: my main is level 30 (like i already said). i just dont feel the need to grind twice more for my alts that i dont really care about (which i already said)

1 ReplyEdited by GigaChrome: 11/16/2014 5:10:55 AMIve been lvl 29 for almost 2months. I see lvl 26's get run through the raid once and get full raid gear to reach lvl 30. I have 98 ascendant shards and nothing to use them on. Common Bungie!!

17 RepliesEdited by HumanTitan8: 11/16/2014 5:53:37 AMCorrect me if I'm wrong, Wizard weak against solar damage Knight weak against arc. As of right now I'm currently leveling all my guns with the following elements to max for this raid. I'm leveling my raid gear. So be honest, do you think I'm READY to take on this raid?

If you enjoy it go ahead it will definitely be easier at 30 but no it seems like it wont be necessary.

3 RepliesThe raid boots are truly amazing +2 Gjallarhorn rockets are really game changing. Also once you get two pieces of the next raid gear you will hopefully be 31 allowing you to transition into hard mode easier. If it's three pieces than yeah it won't really matter unless you don't get raid boots, then you'll be rocking 27 light boots. I'm guessing they'll keep the light level as is so 120 is 30 132 is 31 144 is 32 So the new raid gear would be 36 light. 36+36+30+30 is 132(level 31) 36x4 is 144 (level 32) If you never did VoG you can be level 29, but need 3 light level 36 pieces to hit level 31. All if this is theory so it could be wrong.

2 RepliesActually the mobs at the end of the raid will be around lvl30 so its supposed to pose a challenge even to 30s

1 ReplyI am going to be able to run that raid 3 times so I should hopefully be lvl32 in 2 weeks. And which case I will run it on hard and get that exotic auto rifle.

2 RepliesThe current normal mode Raid is a level 26 mission. However by the end of the Raid you are facing level 28 enemies. It is not unreasonable to think that even though Crota's End will be a 28 mission, by the end of it you will be fighting level 30 enemies in which case your level 28 characters will be doing much less damage and taking much more. I have yet to see or hear about people completing the normal mode raid with only 26's. Level 30 characters for the next raid will have more defense and by the end of it will be the only ones equally leveled to the enemies/bosses.

There will be exotic materials that allow you to upgrade your current raid gear to reach level 32 I believe.

4 RepliesYou don't make good points. You're not a 30. So how could you possibly know how the raid is at 30?
-
If it's "grinding" to you, then don't do it. Just play for fun, and if that means waiting til DLC, then wait.

1 ReplyYeah but if I'm 30 I'm closer to lvl 32 than I would be if I was a lvl 29...........

Getting to level 30 seems bothersome. Once at level 30 people expect more from you. You'll get random invite spams. When you do a raid, the 29s will have you do every single hard just their is in the raid. Mainly you'll always hold relic, as the typical phrase they say is "Only the level 30's should pick up the relic." This always makes me ask, "what if all the 29s get ported?" At which they just wipe. Then they look at you for like the plan or the tactic and if they cause a wipe, they will blame it on you. Basically you will just be used A LOT. I remember that once I helped a bunch of 29s do the Atheon on hard and after we got him to like 10% I was kicked and couldn't rejoin because they had a friend waiting to join once I was kicked. It's just more responsibility as a level 30. Sometimes you just want to take it easy and kill some supplicants.

4 RepliesI raid for the fun of it, I like helping other when they are short handed

2 RepliesWhy do you call it grinding? You can only do the raid once/wk and it takes less time than a full set of one day of bounties if you have a good team. So, 1-3 hours/wk. Seems like just something to do rather than a grind. If you get 30, good for you... if you don't, then you can test your theory.

42 RepliesInvalid post. Lvl 30s will have an easier time than 29s.

1 ReplyWhy would you not wAnt to be 30? What if u need this raid gear to get there? Just seems it makes most sense to max out and store up.
-
5 RepliesThe raid is fun that is why I do it, the fact that I am 30 has nothing to do with it.
-
Because full raid gear let's me change out exotics at will without sacrificing my level. And it looks sweet as hell
-
2 RepliesThe normal raid right now is 26. Do you recommend 26's to group up and do the raid? No because there are level 28 enemies. Most likely the Lvl 28 crota will contain level 30 enemies. 29's can still kill them, but 30's will have a much easier time.
-
Talk about alts, I just use them as extra vault space. I tried to go through the story with other classes but I asked myself a question after finishing all earth story missions. "Why the fvck am I playing through this shit again?"
-
6 RepliesThey are going to release items to upgrade current exotic and raid gears to light level 32. Point nulled
-
12 RepliesEdited by RenownedZ3r0: 11/15/2014 10:04:25 PMAre you serious? Getting the new raid gear in the new raid does not make you 31 or 32. If you actually read up on the new DLC coming out, which obviously you haven't, then you would know you become these lvls by doing questlines given by the new NPC that they are putting in the game. So stop giving out misinformation before you even know what your talking about.

Of course there's a point; do VOG hard easier. It's not going anywhere, and you may still want weapons from there.
