Raid Etiquette

I try to run the raid daily and most of the people I run into out there are cool but OMFG there are those few morons who really need to learn some manners. Here are some things right off the top of my head that I've wanted to say to a few of them: 1. If you are a level 30, it DOES NOT mean you are better than anyone else in the group, it means you got lucky with drops... that's it. So stop acting like a complete douchebag and quit trying to lord that 30 over everyone else in the game. 2. If you get invited to a group who has a solid plan, don't try to boss them around with statements like "well, we do it like this" or "you should do this or that". If you are the add to an established group then be a team player and go along with their plan or start your own f'king group! Of course it's different if they ASK for advice or don't actually have a plan, but even then, be nice about it... don't start ordering people around.. 3. OMFG, stop with the insane chit chat. One of the biggest reasons I try to avoid little kids and teenagers.... they simply won't shut the hell up. [EDIT] I am not talking about casual conversation, which is fine. I'm talking about non-stop-how-are-they-even-breathing chatter boxes. 4. Don't be drunk. I can't tell you how many times I've heard "I play better when I'm drunk"... Ummm newsflash, no you don't, you just think you do. If you really do, then I'd hate to see how much sh*ttier you play sober because you are not playing good in this game. Passing out at Atheon... JFC... really? Seek help! 5. Don't join a game if you don't have a minimum of 2 hours. Yes, it can be done faster, a lot faster, but sometimes there is someone in the group struggling because it's their first time so it might take longer. Don't join a game if you have to leave in 20 minutes. 6. Please don't be that a-hole who gets mad and yells when someone makes a mistake and it causes a wipe. They didn't do it on purpose, your yelling doesn't do anything but bring the group down and newsflash YOU AREN'T perfect either! These are the first things that come to mind... anyone got things they want to add?

    • Your number 4 varies from person to person. Trust me I can play drunk. I also play better when Im drunk because Im more likely trying to have fun and am less serious. When Im trying to have fun I actually do better at most FPS. LOL I actually get mad less when Im drunk.

    • Breathing heavily into the mic. Just grinds my gears. If you have respiratory problems, look into breathe right strips.

    • Pick your battles carefully, especially if you're underleveled. Try to keep track of snipers and stick close to walls or corners when you can. If you get shot, duck back for a moment and see if you can shoot something else until your shields come back. Being gone for 6 seconds to get back to full health is better than going down for 30 and certainly better than not coming back at all (Hard). Sometimes, you just need to find cover.

    • I'll agree with all except 1. Were we lucky? Yes. Are we automatically dicks? No. I've seen someone get booted from a fireteam for being 29 exactly twice, and it was back to back by the same level 29 who, after being waited on for about 15 minutes inside the vault before he could play, wouldn't listen to anyone and quit when we didn't finish hard mode Atheon fast enough. So you can change #1 to: Don't be an ass.

    • Some people who are 30 are more experienced than other 29 and therefore have the right to lead, not boss around, just lead In the proper direction. Also if someone joins and has an idea, instead of pushing it off how about you be open to new things and at least try it out. Heck, his plan might be way better than yours.

      • I've attempted VoG twice now and suffered from the 6th point both times. It's quite disheartening and has me reconsidering joining raids. It's not like I haven't dealt with difficult people before, but between that and tackling other aspects of the game without any sort of friction, I've been sticking to strikes, crucible and heroics. VoG is really awesome, but it's not worth a minimum of 2 hours of social tension every time.

      • This might help some people - There is a scale which shows how much more or less damage you deal and take depending on your level. Example is that if you are one level lower than the enemy, you deal 33% less damage than you would if you were at the same level. You will also take 33% more damage from them. So a 26 guardian up against a 28 praetorian is doing 66% less damage to the baddy. His 28 friend will be doing the normal damage. A 29 will be doing 33% more damage. I'm pretty sure this is right, but if not, please correct me - people should know this isf they don't already. It's worth understanding why being a lower level will have you dying more :)

        • Awesome post! Thank you! Also joined that Need Help With the Raid group you are in, looks like it will be immensely helpful in getting me a full run through the vault. I have joined two "fresh" runs so far one of which was at the Templar and one of which started at Aethoen! So I guess another addition to your list could maybe be If you say you are starting a fresh Vault run make sure you actually do and don't lure people in with a fresh run and then say "Oops, oh well" when you "forget" that you have a checkpoint farther in (it isn't that hard to go back to orbit and start a fresh run if you really did forget).

        • I have something to add. If you're in the tower, looking to add someone to your raid, and you see a level 30 walking by... Maybe he's in a fireteam, maybe he's looking for people like you to help out... sending him a message saying "Hello, we are about to go on a raid and could sure use someone of your experience to help us along" may get a favorable response. Sending someone 30 "PLAY DESTINY" messages in a row, will not. Just sayin....

I've never experienced any of those things in all my raid completions, with randoms everytime.

            • Why are level 30s the target? Do you know how often I come across a level 29 performing all these annoyances you have listed? Maybe it's karma getting back at being such a nuisance and ass in the raid, not allowing them to hit level 30. Never have I had an issue you listed above with these "douchebag level 30s".
