Raid Etiquette

I try to run the raid daily and most of the people I run into out there are cool but OMFG there are those few morons who really need to learn some manners. Here are some things right off the top of my head that I've wanted to say to a few of them: 1. If you are a level 30, it DOES NOT mean you are better than anyone else in the group, it means you got lucky with drops... that's it. So stop acting like a complete douchebag and quit trying to lord that 30 over everyone else in the game. 2. If you get invited to a group who has a solid plan, don't try to boss them around with statements like "well, we do it like this" or "you should do this or that". If you are the add to an established group then be a team player and go along with their plan or start your own f'king group! Of course it's different if they ASK for advice or don't actually have a plan, but even then, be nice about it... don't start ordering people around.. 3. OMFG, stop with the insane chit chat. One of the biggest reasons I try to avoid little kids and teenagers.... they simply won't shut the hell up. [EDIT] I am not talking about casual conversation, which is fine. I'm talking about non-stop-how-are-they-even-breathing chatter boxes. 4. Don't be drunk. I can't tell you how many times I've heard "I play better when I'm drunk"... Ummm newsflash, no you don't, you just think you do. If you really do, then I'd hate to see how much sh*ttier you play sober because you are not playing good in this game. Passing out at Atheon... JFC... really? Seek help! 5. Don't join a game if you don't have a minimum of 2 hours. Yes, it can be done faster, a lot faster, but sometimes there is someone in the group struggling because it's their first time so it might take longer. Don't join a game if you have to leave in 20 minutes. 6. Please don't be that a-hole who gets mad and yells when someone makes a mistake and it causes a wipe. They didn't do it on purpose, your yelling doesn't do anything but bring the group down and newsflash YOU AREN'T perfect either! These are the first things that come to mind... anyone got things they want to add?

    • Some ppl do play better drunk. I used to play cod and gears while hammered, I'd be run n gunning with a sniper getting no scope head shots with a solid k/d. Plus the games more enjoyable.

    • Raid Etiquette - I don't care how long we've been friends or how you got food poisoning. if you go 'afk' with a blutooth headset on to explode in a toilet while we can all listen, you are no longer my friend.

        • 1. I am level 30. I hold it over everyone. Not because I am an elitist, but I can remember when I was 29 I wasn't that bad. Nowadays every 29 seems incapable of just staying alive. 2. A raid groups typical plan is terrible. They go the longest more risky path in gorgons. They set off gorgons. Their are incapable of survivng. I joined a group once whose plan was to stay in the back with the relic shield. There is a reason why you go to the center and that is because supplicants cannot reach you there. Also their plans have huge flaws. Saying only a level 30 should pick up a relic is beyond stupid when there is a chance that no level 30s get warped. At that point they just decide to wipe. Even when only 2 people get warped, a third person can run in via portal and help out instead of preventing a wipe however when I do it and try to save the run, they cuss me out like I'm a noob even though we still completed that portal phase. Most of the time I end up as a designated relic holder. I never wanted to do the relic, or lead raids. Too much responsibility. But because no one else ever knew how to do it I just fell into that role and now its become a part of who I am. A raid leader, who rules with an iron fist and a loud voice. 3. I talk all the time in raids. The silence is so boring, I brighten the mood with some jokes at my warlock buddy. Things like "you're so overpowered you can dual wield Vex Mythoclast type stuff." Then he jabs back at me with another "you're so overpowered" joke. Once we did the raid with 6 people (before the Atheon random teleport) where 5 of us actually did work while we had one guy who we told to just sit back, hide, and sing us a song while playing his guitar. It was pretty good. 4. I get drunk off the blood of my enemies. 5. If I got to go, I pimp out one of my other level 30 friends who's good at the raid. I never just leave, I make sure they have a good replacement. 6. I yell all the time. It is how I take command. They -blam!- up they get yelled at. Sometimes it makes them play better because they want to prove they arent incompetent. It's like how a coach shouts at his players to make them play harder.

          • Identify a leader before you start the raid and listen to the leader. If you are the leader and things are not working out according to your strategy adjust your strategy and try again. If you don't understand your position or role ask questions. Don't screw around unless you are with friends. If they tell you to knock it off stop horsing around and execute. Don't panic when someone goes down or you are about to die. Retreat, reorganize and request help. Stay alive at all costs. Don't be high while playing. It will not make you better and it will piss people off having to wait for you to smoke. I know it's a lot to expect from people but use common sense. A few common sense things: It takes one person to open a portal the others should take up positions away from supplicants and help take them down. This is doubly important on hard mode. I have seen multiple people die because of supplicants when someone jumps or gets pushed off the pedestal. If you are the low level guy you should volunteer to take out supplicants during times vengeance. It's better to live and go another cycle than wipe because you wanted to do a Little bit of damage. Use your best weapons. You don't get exp during the raid so it is not the time to rank up that new weapon or try something out. Bounties and patrols allow you to do that. If you are not going to follow the plan (i.e. Going to the center during times vengeance) then you a better not die or b better be focusing on supplicants. Follow the plan or be prepared to get booted. If you want to be a cowboy go play a solo strike or mission.

            • I remember there was this one time that i was in a raiding party and we had all six guys that we needed. Some of us had to do somethings around the tower before we started so one guy decided to go get something to eat "real quick" while he had the chance. Just one problem. He went out to eat. We started without him with someone else and he didn't get back until we were in Atheon's lair. When he comes back he was pissed off. We were tired of waiting for the love of God! Can you really blame us?

Here's some raid etiquette for ya, and it all deals with 29's: 1) If you're 29, get out of the way of the mighty 30's. We are the true master race, and those who think it's just "luck" are just in denial. You are our water and towel boys, stop trying to be something you're not. 2) 29's show respect to your superiors. When in tight passages get to the back of the line where you belong. Time after time I will get 29's who insist on being in front. Time after time they cause us to wipe, even when it's my fault! Furthermore, when we're about to open a chest don't you dare be the one to open it. We earned the right to have the honor of opening our loot chests, DO NOT steal of us of this small glory. 3) When your lordship 30's are taking enemy fire, you're already wrong. AT NO POINT SHOULD A 30 EVER BE SHOT AT WHEN 29'S ARE IN THE GROUP. I cannot not emphasize enough how important this is. Let's face it, we're the reason our group is beating the raid, you're cannon fodder. Get in there and soak it up. And don't you dare die, or you'll get the boot. 4) For the love of God do not pick up that relic. I could care less if that's the only thing you like about the raid. I don't care that that's the only thing you're good at, and I don't care if my guns are stronger than yours and that they'd be more useful. The Relic is an honor reserved for the 30. Get in line and show some respect. 5) Don't you dare cry if one of our other 30 friends gets on and we give you the boot. I could really care less if Atheon is one-shot, you haven't earned squat and you're place was never cemented in this team. Do not send us messages asking "WTF?" WE ARE 30'S, YOU ARE LUCKY WE EVEN PLAYED WITH YOU IN THE FIRST PLACE! 6) We're all tired of these error codes, but if one of us has to go, it's you. Think about it. We're 30, you're 29. If any of us end up getting error coded then we know you let that happen and didn't take the boot for us. Get off you're freaking high horse, intercept that animal, and take the boot. If you do we will invite you back, if not you will quickly learn what the shape of Italy is. Us 30's are really getting tired of you 29's. Either become 30, play by the rules, or get the hell of our games. We're sick of your shenanigans and we won't tolerate them any longer. You think getting to 30 is hard? Try doing it without us. EDIT:
What's funny is that I never thought in a thousand years that this would ever be taken seriously. The stupidity of some people (unless they are trolling) is breathtaking. This isn't normal stupid, this advanced stupid.
EDIT 2: The new, expanded version of Raid Etiquette is here! • 2 worst things about the hard raid: 1. -blam!-ers spending 15 mins getting the oracle checkpoint on every goddamn character 2. Having the dude who is clearly not meant to be in the hard raid die repeatedly. Had this exact exchange happen today on gatekeepers: Me: ok does everyone know what they are doing? One more time,Shorty (dudes name is shorty) you're gonna pop your bubble and get weapons of light for the left raid team and then help defend your plate, is everyone good? Everyone: yes *open both gates, dude pops his bubble and sprints to venus side* Me: ....... Shorty: You said defend the plate, I didn't know which one. Sad part is this happened multiple times. Was totally and completely useless in every aspect as a 29 gunslinger. Finally, had to hit him with the "what is the shape of Italy". 2nd time I've ever had to kick someone, first time I've ever done it out of complete rage. My god, the gatekeepers can be soul crushing with randoms who are clueless.

              • Agreed with all, including the 'wait for everyone to be at the chest before opening'. Also, use your mic, or at least get into the party chat if there is one for the raid. Really, the dumbest excuse I've heard on PS4 is 'i don't have a mic'. yes, you do! It comes free with every single PS4. It's not the best, but it gets the job done. Especially if it's a group of randoms, communication is key.

                      • I also hate when someone's mic is so loud you hear so many unnecessary things. Like if someone tells you that your mic has too much interference then just lower it all the way down or mute it.

                      • I put up with at least one of these behaviors nearly every single raid. I must be one of the most patient people on videogames because I've never really "snapped" at anyone before. I always talk in a calm manner no matter even if I'm on the brink of going on a rampage. The problem is a lot of these people who are the cause of my frustration don't know how frustrating it is to try and lead a raid with a bunch of uncooperative people. I'm sure the majority of people would have flipped out at least once by now if they had to go through what I go through all the time during raids. I always play with new people, so every raid is another challenge learning how to adapt, instruct, and be patient with others. What really annoys me is when lvl.30's are very harsh on the lvl.29's. This problem happens more often with people who became lvl.30 off the normal raid, so because of this they never learned the struggle of being lvl.29 fighting lvl.30 enemies. I always tell those guys, "Why don't you replace a piece of your gear so you can be lvl.29? Tell me just how easy it should be."

We were stuck for hours and decided it would be better if we do it the next day, we set the time accordingly with everyone's timezone and succeded in meeting... it happend all over again. So in the end he got kick for being AFK and finished the damn thing in 20 minutes after he was gone with no one to replace him. He asked if anyone was still doing the raid six hours later... enough was said.
