Raid Etiquette

I try to run the raid daily and most of the people I run into out there are cool but OMFG there are those few morons who really need to learn some manners. Here are some things right off the top of my head that I've wanted to say to a few of them: 1. If you are a level 30, it DOES NOT mean you are better than anyone else in the group, it means you got lucky with drops... that's it. So stop acting like a complete douchebag and quit trying to lord that 30 over everyone else in the game. 2. If you get invited to a group who has a solid plan, don't try to boss them around with statements like "well, we do it like this" or "you should do this or that". If you are the add to an established group then be a team player and go along with their plan or start your own f'king group! Of course it's different if they ASK for advice or don't actually have a plan, but even then, be nice about it... don't start ordering people around.. 3. OMFG, stop with the insane chit chat. One of the biggest reasons I try to avoid little kids and teenagers.... they simply won't shut the hell up. [EDIT] I am not talking about casual conversation, which is fine. I'm talking about non-stop-how-are-they-even-breathing chatter boxes. 4. Don't be drunk. I can't tell you how many times I've heard "I play better when I'm drunk"... Ummm newsflash, no you don't, you just think you do. If you really do, then I'd hate to see how much sh*ttier you play sober because you are not playing good in this game. Passing out at Atheon... JFC... really? Seek help! 5. Don't join a game if you don't have a minimum of 2 hours. Yes, it can be done faster, a lot faster, but sometimes there is someone in the group struggling because it's their first time so it might take longer. Don't join a game if you have to leave in 20 minutes. 6. Please don't be that a-hole who gets mad and yells when someone makes a mistake and it causes a wipe. They didn't do it on purpose, your yelling doesn't do anything but bring the group down and newsflash YOU AREN'T perfect either! These are the first things that come to mind... anyone got things they want to add?

    • So many time i've joined a group, and completely changed up their strategy. it doesn't end with people griping. it ends with us going to orbit with loot. deal with the fact that some people do know more viable strategies than you do. but don't expect us to beat our heads against the wall trying to help YOU. when you're 30, you have no need to do the vault. you're doing it to HELP OTHERS (or for weapons that you probably have 3 of by now).

      • Solid solid points. Normally when I join a party (myself having two 30's and a 29), even if they ask me for advice, I just respond "this is your party guys, you let me know what you want to do". Unless they insist for ideas I normally won't even give them, I don't like to impose myself on other people, it's crappy. When I'm with my group, it's another story. I'm generally the one that has raided the most so I just naturally assume the role of leading... lol.... Good post... solid advice.

      • While I agree with most everything you have said. . . issue lies in the point that these people that you complain about most likely don't even know the word etiquette ( eticket to them ) let alone if they do they don't care about it. The people that would be willing to follow these rules, or suggestions are people that don't need to be told this while the ones that need to follow it won't read this and don't care. They just want to "earn" the raid gear. Hope your Raiding gets better.

        • Like most, I agree with most of this, I do want to add something from experience that for the lower levels 26-27 that weapons actually make the big difference in the Raid and not so much the level. Come in prepared with ammo synthesis is a given but a little preparation like upgrading all of your weapons goes a REAL long way. Also for the first timers communication with what's happening and effectively relay information to your team is of key. Try your best to be self sufficient and DO NOT DIE, and this means helping each other out the 30 second revive counter will either make you or break you.

              • I love this. You're my hero for today. : ) I'm always worried about accidentally dying because of #6... Like you said, it's not on purpose!! Believe me, i didn't want to die any more than you wanted me to! I'll add a #7... If you want to do the raid, DO THE RAID. Don't just "rock climb" for 30+ minutes. This didn't actually happen to me but i was watching my boyfriend play with a bunch of randoms and apparently instead of moving on, they were all just jumping around climbing up the walls, etc. My boyfriend was a lot more patient than I would've been! I would've blown a fuse! Just because you have hours to blow sitting on top of some ledge in the raid doing nothing doesn't mean everyone does! Okay. Rant over. For now. LOL

              • Find a clan. Mine has a good mix of "older"/younger gamers. All of us are respectful and helpful and we have teams running the raid all week. The name should show up in my gamer tag here on bungie. Eliminates the need for random 'surprises'.

                • First timers; please don't run in a group any larger then 2 at a time. If you and your 5 buddies have never run it, don't expect one veteran raider to get you through it. Split up learn different attack strats.

                • well worded :] i've been waiting to see one of these threads pop up. It's appalling how people treat each other over live. the amount of "dad hit mom at the table, and now we're just trying to eat dinner" silences we've had in raids is unbelievable... but still. i can count my bad raids on one hand ;] all in all, everyone I've come across or offered to help through the raid has been appreciative, curious to learn, and willing to adapt. 1 person can make or break the raid group.

#3 ... Not that we can't have fun or tell jokes, but when someone try to explain something, just listen. Don't be that guy who, at the second we ask: are we ready, said, what do I do ? I'll add #7: PLease don't have 7 poeples in your room when you're doing the Raid, or ask them to STFU ... I don't care that your freind just reach Prestige 2 in COD, and I need you to focus.
and teenagers.... they simply won't shut the hell up.
This is what encourages me to not speak whatsoever. People think that if you're a teenager, you are: -Irritating -stupid -too young to understand anything - more likely to rage quit - you're just as bad as the little kids Which generally isn't true, most people my age which I've played with generally shut up and play, with occasional warnings of enemies, or in the vault of glass, oracles and praetorians
