I try to run the raid daily and most of the people I run into out there are cool but OMFG there are those few morons who really need to learn some manners. Here are some things right off the top of my head that I've wanted to say to a few of them:
1. If you are a level 30, it DOES NOT mean you are better than anyone else in the group, it means you got lucky with drops... that's it. So stop acting like a complete douchebag and quit trying to lord that 30 over everyone else in the game.
2. If you get invited to a group who has a solid plan, don't try to boss them around with statements like "well, we do it like this" or "you should do this or that". If you are the add to an established group then be a team player and go along with their plan or start your own f'king group! Of course it's different if they ASK for advice or don't actually have a plan, but even then, be nice about it... don't start ordering people around..
3. OMFG, stop with the insane chit chat. One of the biggest reasons I try to avoid little kids and teenagers.... they simply won't shut the hell up. [EDIT] I am not talking about casual conversation, which is fine. I'm talking about non-stop-how-are-they-even-breathing chatter boxes.
4. Don't be drunk. I can't tell you how many times I've heard "I play better when I'm drunk"... Ummm newsflash, no you don't, you just think you do. If you really do, then I'd hate to see how much sh*ttier you play sober because you are not playing good in this game. Passing out at Atheon... JFC... really? Seek help!
5. Don't join a game if you don't have a minimum of 2 hours. Yes, it can be done faster, a lot faster, but sometimes there is someone in the group struggling because it's their first time so it might take longer. Don't join a game if you have to leave in 20 minutes.
6. Please don't be that a-hole who gets mad and yells when someone makes a mistake and it causes a wipe. They didn't do it on purpose, your yelling doesn't do anything but bring the group down and newsflash YOU AREN'T perfect either!
These are the first things that come to mind... anyone got things they want to add?
-
I agree with all of these, but more specifically the last one. I tried VoG for the first time a few weeks ago, no idea what I was doing, and the entire time I had some guy yelling at me for dying. Really, I can't learn how to use the relic shield if I've got someone jumping down my throat every time I use a move they don't agree with.

3 RepliesEdited by THE N0D: 11/13/2014 4:28:25 PMMe: Looking for someone to do hard raid Some Noob:
I am a level 30 warlock
Me: You must be a noob, checkpoint stealing, exploiting pusher then. Next.

Agree totally!!!

8 RepliesWhile I do agree with this post, you could rephrase #1 a little, it's true that whomever is currently a 30 had to reach that level through a luck based system, but it's not JUST because of luck, a vast majority have had to push themselves to 29 with non raid legendary gear to qualify for the hard raid to have a fighting chance at more drops when normal mode has not been enough, and many(myself included) had to create alternate characters which had to go through the monotonous task of leveling from the ground up and exchange gear between characters after lvl 20 to increase the chances of gear dropping but still having to go through more raid runs to finally get that #30, which means some hard work and forward thinking has been involved from many who are now level 30, again I am not saying that it makes them better than other players and luck is still definitely involved in the drops, but it's no reason to diminish the had work often times involved to reach the accomplishment of finally getting to that coveted number. my 2 cents.

2 RepliesTotally agree... This one Time doing the hard raid the guy with the relic died so I picked it up, but the cleanse wasn't recharged, so my screen was completely black and the oracles killed us. The fire team leader was going insane. "DONT PICK UP THE -blam!-ING RELIC IF YOU DONT KNOW HOW TO USE IT! GOD,THIS TEAM SUCKS! WELL NEVER BEAT ATHEON WITH PEOPLE LIKE YOU!"
-
-
You sound hot.
-
Edited by MerrickAU: 11/13/2014 2:30:37 PMHow about you don't -blam!-ing start a raid that you have no idea how to complete. I'm not here to hold your hands and get you gear. There is no excuse for not knowing the fights at this point, -blam!-ing Google that shit
-
3 RepliesI agree with u, but 30s are better and know more
-
I like this guy
-
3 RepliesTwo hours for a raid? That's a lot.
-
1 ReplyRespect level 30s, and I'm talking about the ones who carry you through the raid. The ones that understand all the mechanics and ends up getting you all the chests. Respect the veterans, non matter what level they are

One person dying at or shortly after the beginning of a checkpoint does not always mean wipe. I, along with many others, still believe we can push on. Communicate with your group as much as you can. Know each other's strengths and weaknesses. Especially with Atheon's Random teleport. If the group can't take out the oracles due to a glitch, a death, etc. It isn't over. The portal should be open. Provided that there is more than one person alive in the present, you can get help to come through and blast away. Okay that was somewhat off topic. When running with people you have not run with before, only talk when you need to during Atheon. And establish how you intend to call things out. (Past/present, Left/Right, etc.). Just throwing it out there that there is no "Mars" side. Also, cheeseburgers.
-
3 RepliesHere's one. Establish which lingo you want for the gates before hand. New people get confused and some people can't tell their left from their right. Lol. So I usually go with colors. Red left Mars desert and right green jungle Venus. Also helps with the oracles. Left hidden right front etc. etc. Communication makes an alright team into a coordinated bad ass killing machine.
-
Don't tell people not to open chests, you sound stupid.
-
3 RepliesEdited by Scissors: 11/12/2014 7:38:07 PMGreat post. The only things I'd add are: 1. WAIT FOR EVERYBODY BEFORE OPENING CHESTS (unless they communicate that they don't need said chests) 2. Don't try to be the hero in the Gorgon's Maze....just follow along with the majority of the group and if you all fail, step in and offer an alternate path/method.
-
3 RepliesDon't eat while raiding. Especially with your mic un muted and ESPECIALLY IF YOU CHEW LIKE A COW. Thank you.
-
7 RepliesShut up meg
-
About the whole needing 2 hours thing, another good "strategy" when you can tell the raid is gonna take a whole Is just splitting into 2 days. It might not work for everyone but on my first raid we we're all kind of "stressed" from the gorgons maze, and the first stage of the actual vault. So we just called it a day and got 5/6 people together, and then just invited a 6th
-
also if someone has invisibility and goes through the gorgon maze alone leaving the team behind he should know that he is stupid because 1 we all need to make it through or the door wont open 2 the gorgon didnt spot you but you"interupted" its patern so the rest of the team may get spotted and it will be your fault i know the way to get my team out of threre with my eyes closed, i just need them to stay grouped and follow me, if they dont i usualy quit the fireteam, get to gatekeepers in about 1 minute alone and invite them on my game
-
2 RepliesThe WORST was on our 2nd run we needed a 6th...it was a little kid. When we wiped a lot trying new strats he CONSTANTLY said, "Let's skip to Atheon to push him off!". Needless to say, we wanted to strangle him...so now we make sure they are of a decent age if we need an extra. I know not all kids are like that, but it isn't too fun being dumbarses with a young one in the team, lol.

7 RepliesEdited by Pixkils: 11/12/2014 6:34:02 PM7. Share your knowledge and educate the members of your fireteam. Before you pick up the relic in the Templer room, or before you walk into Atheon's Chamber to start the Gatekeeper phase. Assess how your fireteam is doing; if your going smooth and haven't wiped ask and let members take on new roles or do things they have not done as often. I was using destinylfg.net and ran into a mixed group of level 30's and new people. I stuck around and ran the VoG raid twice with them that night. Two of the people had already collected all the chest/boss rewards and were there for the soul purpose of helping and educating. In a dozen runs it was the first time I wasn't topside during gatekeeper relics... The first time we had a level 26 Titan going through on his first raid and instead of carrying him and telling him to "shoot here" we took the time to explain almost all of the raid mechanics... The Oracles in the Templar room (where he only helped cover right conflux area, and learned the three right oracles), and going down into Mars/Venus on the two relic stage for the precursor to the Atheon fight were the only things he didn't have exposure to. We still wrapped things up in about an hour and twenty and this first time raider learned more on this one raid then I did during multiple runs. It is groups like these that make better Guardians and lessens the chance of headaches for all of us in the future. It wasn't a particularly fast clear, but it didn't have to be. It was fun, and we all learned something that will make us better players in the weeks ahead.

3 RepliesI am a 29. I always see 30s and think they're better then me. Why wouldn't I think that? 30 is hard to get. Until proven otherwise I always listen to the 30s when they give advice. And yes I know this isn't true in all cases.

Nailed it! nailed it! nailed it! Great post dude :) As it is mentioned in the crucible 'Work together guardians and you may survive!!!!!! ''
