I try to run the raid daily and most of the people I run into out there are cool but OMFG there are those few morons who really need to learn some manners. Here are some things right off the top of my head that I've wanted to say to a few of them:
1. If you are a level 30, it DOES NOT mean you are better than anyone else in the group, it means you got lucky with drops... that's it. So stop acting like a complete douchebag and quit trying to lord that 30 over everyone else in the game.
2. If you get invited to a group who has a solid plan, don't try to boss them around with statements like "well, we do it like this" or "you should do this or that". If you are the add to an established group then be a team player and go along with their plan or start your own f'king group! Of course it's different if they ASK for advice or don't actually have a plan, but even then, be nice about it... don't start ordering people around..
3. OMFG, stop with the insane chit chat. One of the biggest reasons I try to avoid little kids and teenagers.... they simply won't shut the hell up. [EDIT] I am not talking about casual conversation, which is fine. I'm talking about non-stop-how-are-they-even-breathing chatter boxes.
4. Don't be drunk. I can't tell you how many times I've heard "I play better when I'm drunk"... Ummm newsflash, no you don't, you just think you do. If you really do, then I'd hate to see how much sh*ttier you play sober because you are not playing good in this game. Passing out at Atheon... JFC... really? Seek help!
5. Don't join a game if you don't have a minimum of 2 hours. Yes, it can be done faster, a lot faster, but sometimes there is someone in the group struggling because it's their first time so it might take longer. Don't join a game if you have to leave in 20 minutes.
6. Please don't be that a-hole who gets mad and yells when someone makes a mistake and it causes a wipe. They didn't do it on purpose, your yelling doesn't do anything but bring the group down and newsflash YOU AREN'T perfect either!
These are the first things that come to mind... anyone got things they want to add?

123 RepliesI'm probably one of the very last few Guardians at level 29 who has not even attempted the VoG. I think the main reason why is because even without having experienced that RAID, I have dreaded that I would run into many of the problems you cite. I am 50 years old -- somewhat older than the regular gamer, and I suspect I would encounter a lot of logistical and skill difficulties learning the RAID for the first time. As a result, I worry that I would engender irritation by strangers who don't know me, especially if I died a bunch of times or made a mistake that got not just me, but one of my teammates killed. I really don't want to deal with such grief. On top of that, realistically the only time I expect I will ever have sufficient time to even attempt the RAID is a weekend, and even scheduling a minimum of 2-3 hours then may be a challenge. Sadly, therefore, I may never do a RAID, and just remain content to handle less time-intensive and more friend-cooperative activities like Nightfall or the weekly strikes. Maybe as my network of friends gets more familiar with the RAID format they will want to guide me as the last N00b through it. Otherwise, I am content to remain 29.

55 RepliesIs anyone one here looking to team up maybe 1 or 2 more experienced people and we could invite 3 or 4 un-experienced people to help them through the raid? I feel terrible for all of you in the comments who can't even have a go at it for selfish ignorant players that don't want nothing but 'experienced people' or 'all level 30's' or the most annoying one yet 'warlocks only' these people can't even do it legit. I really want to help people through it. We were all new to it once and I had to go through a lot of terrible games with some horrible people to get experienced. I am not perfect, far from it (hence me asking for maybe 1 or 2 more experienced people to join me) but I have completed 4 or 5 times and understand what needs to be done and so want to help people get experienced in it so they don't need to encounter anymore of these arrogant players. I am on PS4. Feel free to message, reply to this post or just add me. my PSN is: Gunntox1. I am in work just now so won't get on until later tonight but I am up for smashing the VOG tonight hopefully with first timers.

I get what you're trying to say here, in one way or another everyone has had to deal with what you're talking of but without assigned raiding parties things will go bad one way or another. A personal comment tho, 2 hours is way to long. You should only need 1/2hr - 1hr normal. What else can I say to you but if you're not happy with the raid crew, get as many of you're friends together and just pick up the rest most people are willing and thankful.

These are the first things that come to mind... anyone got things they want to add?
1. Actually it does. Level 30s do 20% more damage and take 20% less damage than a 29. 2. If their way sucks, they should expect to be called out on it. Just because you think a 3 hour run is acceptable doesn't mean I do. 3. There isn't really a lot of communication needed anymore. If you're having side conversations and keep dying or not doing what you're supposed to though, then you're getting kicked. 4. If someone wants to have a few beers after a long week at work while playing a video game, let them do it. If someone is being counterproductive, then kick them. 5. A two hour run is unacceptable. Step your game up kid. If you're not completing it in under an hour, you're doing something wrong. A little bit over an hour if you're doing it on hard. 6. You shouldn't be making silly mistakes frequently at this point. If you are, you're getting kicked. One or two over the course of the entire run is fine, more than that gets you the boot. Your list has nothing to do with etiquette. It's you whining and moaning about "how mean the other players are". Grow up and play the game.

1. If you are a level 30, it DOES NOT mean you are better than anyone else in the group
Well, technically, it does mean they're better than anyone else in the group. More light means more damage being dealt to enemies, and they have higher defence due to the raid armour they wear. Jus' sayin'.

5 RepliesHere's some etiquette for ya - Don't have any form of gender in a username for anything, especially if it is displayed online. Also - I play terrific when I drink, don't you judge me.

Edited by AudioSoldier: 11/15/2014 5:49:02 PM7. After raid is done, say goodbye and disconnect from the party before fapping. Or at least mute your mic. But in all seriousness though, i raid with a group of friends that i know and have played games with for years, so our atmosphere is pretty fun and relaxed. everyone is allowed one mulligan per raid, they get one free pass at a costly mistake leading to a wipe, after that one mulligan they get harped on haha.

3 RepliesI've got one: Don't tell other people how to act when they're raiding. If you have a problem with people be an adult and suck it up or leave, don't make passive aggressive forum posts because you had a bad experience. I'm looking at you OP.

Edited by NeonTigrr: 11/15/2014 9:35:49 AMWhatever/Whoever is suggesting a certain strategy should always be open to questions and potential improvements to it. If people question when I ask them to do something, or say eg. 'I do it this way', I always explain why I asked them to do things the way I said. As an example: I helped a random group beat Aetheon, it was the first time for at least 3 of them. - I told the group that we should always have a player positioned on top of each Sync Plate immediately after teleport. When one of the other players... debated this, I explained the why. The reason I like this strategy is that it ensures that whichever side the other players were teleported to the portal will be open ASAP it eliminates unnecessary communication ("Left portal"/"Right Portal") allowing the team inside the portal to get on with it, and communicate with each other more easily it ensures that the 2 players on the Sync Plates are safe from Supplicant explosions it ensures that players are positioned on each side of the map in order to more effectively deal with the alternating left/right/left/right Supplicant spawns. A good raid strategy eliminates as many things that can go wrong as possible, and minimises the rest.

7 RepliesBeing level 30 kinda does mean something. I mean its random but thats just means you grinded the raid more than anyone less than 30...
-
7 RepliesYou are half right (kinda). 3, 4 and 6 are correct. ESPECIALLY NUMBER 4!!! A lvl 30 is in fact better (more damage/defense) Someone with more experience should lead and you should follow since you are lvl 29. I tell my clan mates if you need to leave it is all good. Once you have enough friends you wont have a problem replacing them on the fly, plus blocking out 2+ hours to play a game is going to turn off a lot of gamers.
-
Why don't you just start your own little group instead of posting a rant.
-
2 RepliesI had to laugh at number 1. By your own argument 30s are no different than 29s... I'm a 30 warlock, and I can lead a group through a hardmode run, (meaning I know the raid in its entirety enough to explain the obstacles and how to overcome them.) and there's a couple 29s in my clan who could do the same. That one level only matters to the people who keep crying about how much it doesn't matter. How about this: Raid Etiquette: Listen to each other; don't be assholes.

8 RepliesEdited by OldboyVicious: 11/12/2014 7:02:02 PMWhen playing through the raid with people you aren't familiar with, it's sometimes hard to tell who should pick up the relic. Obviously the person to pick it up should be the one who is most competent with it. A friend of mine came up with this method of figuring out who picks it up: Be honest with yourself and how good you are with it. Then rank yourself Expert, Decent, Needs Improvement Expert is a "one second" relic user Decent is a "two seconds" and Needs Improvement a "three seconds" After some experience, the team leader can assign these rankings to players in the team. What this means is that when you get teleported, if you are a one-second relic user, you pick it up within the first second of teleporting. A two-second relic user waits two seconds, and a three second relic user waits three seconds. One of the best things we did to make the Aetheon battle go much more smoothly was to establish a ranked order on who should pick up the relic so that we aren't deciding last second during each teleport.

18 RepliesThat middle platform Atheon strat that randoms seem super fond of only works if you have the dps to either down him in 2 phases or control supplicants. I don't trust a PUG to do it, so I always advise that relic user uses relic super to down supplicants and everyone else trade aggro. Even if it's slower, a PUG has a better chance of survival with that method. I won't yell at you if you die a few times. I've done carry groups for bad people. But if you aren't listening to the strat the group agreed on then I will yell at you. Yeah, I can come in as a thirty. Maybe I am lucky, but it took me 6 raid weeks and two titans to get that RNG. So if I'm trying suggest strategies without being asked, then it's from experience clearing. I'll try a group strat to clear, but if it isn't working for some reason or another, I will tell you exactly what I want you to do in order to win. In hard raid, this could mean asking a 29 to die immediately to lower the chance he gets in the oracle group for atheon. Don't get butthurt because of some false sense of RNG bad luck pride or even try to argue that it's better you live. In hard mode, the damage reduction for a 29 for portals can make or break a run. Be a team player. Getting butthurt only makes you look like you can't play as a group. We're either after the loot too or helping you get it. If it doesn't work, the group will be open to try something else. Level up your weapons. If you're coming in at 26 in normal or below 30 in hard, please have maxed out weapons. You get an estimated 25% damage reduction for every level lower you are. Having weapons that aren't capped out makes this worse. Don't be the third wheel if you don't have to be

Add For Competitive Raider. Frost Inbound (Level 29)

Someone who thinks they're funny by screaming "Leeroy Jenkins" then getting destroyed by the templar; except doing it with everything. Minotaurs, Prespeterians (that's what I call them), Gorgon, Aetheon, Suicidal Herpes, basically everything. Hey buddy, you're level 26 and we're carrying you, have the decency to either shut up and stay in the back or don't play at all. /rant

All of this should never have to be said, but the fact that we have to just goes to show how sad our lil society is. Good post. Buyp

16 RepliesEdited by sunburndsol: 11/11/2014 6:47:56 PMI agree that the VoG is a load of BS. 4 times I went at the vault and all 4 times there was one A hole who was just a tyrannical douchebag. I can't stand the vault anymore because of that. And I'm a cool, calm patient gamer and when someone starts to the time I have to play this game, I just ignore and move on. Unfortunately I can't find a raid group with manners so I'll be a 29 hunter for who knows how long. :( meant to say "when someone starts to ruin the time I have to play this game." Oops.

PlayStation or Xbox?

I agree with all of these, but more specifically the last one. I tried VoG for the first time a few weeks ago, no idea what I was doing, and the entire time I had some guy yelling at me for dying. Really, I can't learn how to use the relic shield if I've got someone jumping down my throat every time I use a move they don't agree with.
