What's up with 30s boycotting 29s In Hard Mode Raid?
I have both of my characters with Atheon Check Points for days now and every time I look for a group with a couple 30s I never get invites!! I ONLY ever get invites from groups of 29s, what gives? I mean I know 29s are a little bit of a liability, but damn man I need a Helmet and I'm a 30 instantly and no groups with 30s will invite me. I know I'm not the only one either cuz every group of 29s I'm with all say the same thing.

6 RepliesI feel you, Ive gotten kicked from mutiple raid because the fireteam leader finds a level 30 and im only one piece of raid gear short of being 30. Also got kicked once because the other person they wanted to join had JUST gotten the VexMC, even though I constantly had the most oracle kills and supplicant kills and had only died when they wanted to wipe. Im mean how do these people think everyone got to lvl 30, they had to play hard mode at lvl 29. Definitely gets on my nerves, sorry for ranting lol.

I know right?! At some point these pricks were lvl thirty and just got lucky on the three armor drops, so why is it they refuse to be decent? Half the time I live longer than the lvl 30's in my groups, yet they still blame me for us not winning faster because I choose to play as a defender titan and not a warlock with two lives, in fact I've been kicked from groups just because I'm not a sun singer warlock -__- come on, really?

4 Repliesi understand your pain, i do like to help players, but most of the time i spend 2 and a half hours trying to do the raid on hard at atheon and they just keep dying and dont know what to do, i think that they should get the other raid armour first, then get an exotic helmet, get to 30 and THEN do the raid

Since most games have a ranking system the person that is a higher rank is usually perceived as having greater skill. In this game that is not the case. It takes skill to get to level 29 and luck to get to level 30.

I have always helped level 29 groups in the raid I have never heard of this, but if this is indeed true, then that has got to stop that sounds like a bunch of people stuck in greed than anything else

It's because atheon is so glitched now you have to out race bungie wiping the party over bullshit. I'm level 29. I hate getting passed over, but I get it.

3 RepliesA lot of level 30's prefer to not have 29's due to the fact that their ego blinds them, making them think all sub-29's are pathetic. I prefer to have a few 30's on the Hard raid, but it's not absolutely needed.

14 Replies30 is RNG - not skill. However - 30 is not nearly as squishy as 29. Most people are in the interests of finishing the raid as fast as possible, with as little wipes as possible. That is why I in particular will wait for a 30 rather than accepting a 29. [b][u]Atheon in particular....[/u][/b] - You can thank Bungie for randomizing teleports. Before random teleports, having 29's was not a big issue. Now - 3 or more 29's = suicide. If 3 29's get ported, it's likely a wipe will occur.

Agree I am now in this boat after becoming level 30 and just seeing how much easier it is with a group of 30s. We don't want to waste time and get it done

12 RepliesBecause most the 30s think they are superior. There is videos proving full groups of 29s can fully clear the raid in about 45 mins to an hour, videos proving they can even do it with 28s. The first hard mode raid ever cleared had a 28 in it. Most people who say it cant be done with 29s just lack the skill to do it. Since hitting level 30 yeah, things die a bit easier, but you don't take any extra shots, even testing it out with max armor rating, 2 hob shots = dead. Same as 29. I will however say this, I on my 29 hunter and had 5 30s with me doing Atheon, and I was always the last to die if we wiped, and I would have either 1st or 2nd highest kills. I would use the relic over the 30s not wanting it. And they kept wiping cause people would think they are awesome and either get blown the hell up by harpy's or would try and jump right into hobgoblins and get killed in a blink. Took an hour for them to get it together. And we had to wait several times, while waiting I just explored alot. That is the most fun thing to do in vault anyways, find all the secret areas and just relax in them. I wish I knew about the youtube videos for some of them, spent days just dying in the vault finding spots.

The feels of being forever 29 in need of only boots for all 3 of my warlocks. I understand both sides...during the conflux with 5 29s and 1 30, it took us a while due to inflicting very little damage output to the Minotaurs and taking waaaaay too much damage from everything. But after the conflux, it was smooth sailing. Fwark the conflux stage. But on another note, I help lower level guys run the normal raid almost daily even when I don't reap any rewards. I find it that the raid is the only thing left that is somewhat entertaining and somewhat challenging which makes it worthwhile. So i don't mind at all.

2 RepliesIt's simply because most of them don't trust random 29s to know all the roles, have maxxed weapons, or possess the ability to stay alive. It's perfectly possible to complete hard raid with a group of 29s, if they all can perform what I previously stated. And it's not just 29s. I have played with other 30s who think they're awesome because of the gear they have; and they're garbage. Don't get discouraged. Find a group and experience it with them. You'll know who can play and who can't.

A lvl 29 with no good gear is more of a liability than a 29 that has the best weapon to compensate with the lvl... I'm lvl 30 with no gjallahorn and killing atheon gets tough... The faster he gets killed the better, the longer it takes the mor glitches and bug that shows up... If you still don't understand that part then keep finding a good group or make some friends... Lvl 30s are not boycotting... Note: if you realize this the "update" bungie did with the random teleport fix and the baby bumpers ruined the whole game mechanics. There's more bugs and glitches... And i will bet that you can't even finish atheon on normal without wiping several times...

First time I completed the hard raid, start to finish. We had one lvl 30 and everyone else was 29. Bit of a pain but it can be done.

You can get 29 by maxing out any legendary gear, you don't need exotic or even raid gear. Unless your inspect an view gear,30's will probably think your trying to get a easy vog run. Wich I have encountered by a few people. Bragged about being 29, ended up being full dead orbit gear.

1 ReplyI have been allowed in to several groups on hard. We never bothered going to Atheon and when we recently tried we had one level 30 who was OBVIOUSLY used to being carried by the rest of the raid. He left claiming he only tried 5 times with any given group and that we were the "worst group he ever raided with". Lol. He couldn't use the relic and dies faster than the two level 29s in the raid. Obviously a RNG blessed skill-less. I am not the greatest player in the world but I have a Hunter AND Titan with exotic chests missing only the arms to be 30 and a warlock that needs arms and chest. Max VoCs, launchers, fusion, and snipers of every damage type. I eventually find raids and after I play with a group of peeps they ALL send me friend requests and often invite me to raid with them. Just keep at it and eventually you will find a good group you will consider friends who will forgive your off days and appreciate more those days when you are dead nuts accurate.

2 RepliesI've beaten Atheon on hard with a team of 29's if just takes longer but you can still get him before he it's rage mode. But the 30 superiority complex I see when looking for a group on LFG is annoying 30 just means you've got the gear required to hit the level doesn't translate to you being a pro raider if your ass was carried for all raids you went on and you just got lucky on normal. For me a team of 3 30's and 3 skilled 29's can clear the raid on hard with very little hassle

All I'm reading is people can't do this or can't do that, this is a team effort, if everyone pulls their weight you'll be fine. I have run the raid prolly 15-20 times hard and normal. My team clears it in 40 min on nirmal, hard is usually 2 hours cuz of the wipes and bugs. Just need the right strategy.

Just finished hard mode with 3 29s. 2 of them were hunters. As long as smart play with communication is happening then the vault is easy.
