I am trying to join my brothers fire team in Destiny but the game comes up with the error of "Unable to join target player. Please try again". My brother and I are on the same network and we are able to join other peoples fire teams but never if one of us is in the fire team. We are trying to prgress through the story together and this is preventing us.

Same problem, but i fixed it by having one person use wireless, and the other using a LAN/ethernet cable.

All you have to do to fix this problem is to make sure you have both finished the mission where you recieve the warp drive. After you have both completed this, you should be able to join the fireteam.

I have the same issue with my fiancee. We were so addicted to destiny that we had to buy another xbox one so that we would be able to play. After this recent update, we haven';t been able to join. It says unable to join target player. We have reset the consoles, reset the router, existed, relaunched the game, cleared the cache, changed the modem, and even changed the channel on the router, we also tried tricking the router and gave one of the xbox's a different IP and that didn't work. This is seriously frusterating. IT would be nice if they would fix this issue or have a customer support number to contacft to resolve the issue.

Hey bungie why don't you fix this already. I've already spent around $150 to play your game and now I can't even play with the people I want to. So you even care or are you just out for the money?

Same thing 😡😡

Edited by raccoon eyes: 1/27/2017 5:07:14 AMSame problem... tried having one person on wifi, one wired. Tried rebooting. Tried restarting Destiny. Tried EVERYTHING. Still doesn't work. Would really like to play some destiny with my SO. :'( Would REALLY like to see some resolution for this issue. EDIT: REBOOTED THE ROUTER (then a PS4) AND IT WORKED!!!

Same issue. Wish I knew about this before I bought a second Xbox one and the collection to play with my son.. is there anyway to fix this issue???
-
Bump because seriously.
-
1 ReplyThanks for fixing this issue that has been around since destiny launched.
-
Same issue. The whole reason I bought a second Xbox for my kids for Christmas... So they can play together. Worked for a week. Seriously, plz fix!!
-
Same issue
-
Same issue here, going on 5 months now it seems. You would hope they would do something about it after that long.
-
I'm having the exact same issue. This really sucks
-
It literally sounds like every time someone finds a fix, it gets patched so that people on the same network can't join the same fireteam. We had it so that resetting the ps4s together usually fixed it and now it does nothing.
-
2 RepliesMan I wish I knew this was an issue before wasting money on a second copy of this game and system to play with my wife. Really lame. Having the exact same fireteam issue.
-
My buddies are having this same issue, they live in the same house and use the same network but can't connect to each others fireteams. It's bs.
-
OK bungie seriously we pay good money for you guys to provide us a game that we can play fire teams with our families and it's not like we aren't all buying the game so we can all play together fix it I shouldn't have to go in and try every stupid trick in the book on my router on my Xbox and everything else to get it to work it's bull crap and still doesn't work

Edited by THE JaDeFoXXXX: 12/31/2016 3:50:28 AMAlso having the same issue and was super frustrated. We had purchased a second Xbox one just so we could play destiny together! Out of desperation we changed the DNS one of the Xbox's to Google's public DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and surprisingly it worked! Just thought I'd share in case it works for others. EDIT: This worked yesterday but doesn't seem to be working now...

Same thing here I'm not Playing Destiny for a long time. Plenty of other games i enjoy. This is a bad sign for destinys future with my console. (issue : connecting to fireteams on same network. but unable to target player. resetting the console and the other. not success. ) once it worked well for an hour. ... on Christmas.
