I disagree with the premise of trading weapons. Bungie wants the weapons you get from missions, strikes, raids, PvP, to feel special. To feel like you EARNED them them through blood sweat and tears. And for you to be able to show them off and for others to know what you went through to get that. Being able to trade those weapons to others who haven't gone through that would neuter any special meaning those weapons had. They would then solely be a sum of their parts. Nothing more than a good weapon without the meaning behind that.

 • With such a system in place I'd suspect that the rarer the loot obtained, the less likely it'll be traded amongst other guardians. It can be useful amongst lower tier weapons. Even so, legendary gear can be acquired by doing bad within the Iron Banner (as seen in the beta) so the loot system can be too random to make anything really feel "earned". Besides, one would have to trade loot they earned for another player's loot they earned. It creates another social experience within the tower of allowing players to exchange what they need to combat the darkness. I see where people are coming from with loot having to be "earned" but the current loot system allows me to go afk against a spider tank and allow my friend to kill it for me to receive a rare item (happened in the beta). Albeit that was only the beta, the idea of "loot stories" and feeling like you've earned items can be almost squandered. If you were to say this loot system can be improved, why not improve upon a trading system as well? Players must still earn loot and, the rarer the item, the less likely you'll ever trade it as there isn't another weapon exactly like it.

 • In an ideal world, I think you would be right. But what I've seen of trading systems in the past has me concerned if they were to implement it here.

 • I know what you mean. Trading systems have been exploited and or broken before. That doesn't mean Bungie is incapable of creating a balanced peer-to-peer trading system. The one I thought up was only a mark up, but I honestly believe one could exist in this game as there are other successful trading systems out there. Glitches are common with any aspect of the game as well as balance issues, but those can be corrected.

 • Well to be honest, I wouldn't ever use the trade system. But I could get behind a friend to friend trading system. And traded items are then marked forever and can't be traded again except back to the original person. That would cut down on abuse and probably satisfy most of people's complaints without completely screwing over people that share my opinion.

 • A mark on items could be placed. That's interesting, you may only trade that item once and it can't be traded again. There could be certain restrictions on upper echelon loot, even though they'll less likely eh traded as they are one of a kind items. Even if you may not use the trading system, someone might. Maybe your friend and you'll decide to look at his wares and negotiate :P
