Destiny really seems to be chock full of themes like hope and the return of the civilized world from the ashes. In such an idealistic game I doubt there will be room for GRIMDARK guardians.

True, but even in Mass Effect the Renegade option was still focusing toward the ultimate goal to save all life in the galaxy. It was just with whatever means necessary. Not exactly diabolically evil. There could be room for Guardians who would protect us and the City at all costs, no matter the consequences.
