I most likely won't buy an Xbox One, but if I did I would not even use the packaged headset, as I own a pair of Turtle Beaches.
That doesn't excuse the fact that they won't package a mic with the console, but for me that isn't an issue. But I easily could not have owned this 3rd party mic, and if that were the case, I really would be upset with Microsoft for making that terrible decision.

Kinda forgetting the fact that current gen headsets wont work with the xbox are we?
-
Never read that anywhere myself. But if that's the case that they won't use a basic jack that seems like the standard, and appears to be the case with the PS4, that is just dumb.
-
Yea, they made a proprietary port.

Tis true. 3rd party headsets won't work with the Xbox One. Kinda the thing I hope the internet latches onto and bitches about next, because that's stupid and money grubbing by MS.
-
This has actually been my main concern since Microsoft released the picture for their standard headset.

It is pretty money grubbing. I mean it doesn't really look like adding a special port is going to improve your experience with the Xbox One, unless for some reason it makes the quality of people's voices better, which I highly doubt. There really isn't a defense for adding a special port. I mean this is basic Apple behavior. Pretty soon we won't even have basic USB ports and we'll have to use products with the special Microsoft brand port.
