The good news is, people tend to start opposing oppressive regimes more when those regimes attempt to prohibit citizens' religions, or attempt to impose a single religion on everyone. The more they tighten their grip, the more the oppressed citizens will want to work against them. History has shown that, in the long run, totalitarianism is ultimately self-defeating.

Not likely. The PRC knows how to walk the line. They won't do anything that would seriously jeopardizes their territorial integrity.

Yes, and it's rising. But it's a very regional growth. Areas like Hong Kong are not as high as say Shanghai.

Yea, it's that whole 2 systems, 1 nation policy. Hong Kong kind of just does their thing, but ultimately submits to Chinese authority. Macau was like that too before it became Mega-Vegas.
