I used to read all the books, then I realized Bungie ignored the books so I was wasting my time and haven't read one since Onyx. Then 343 took over and made the books mandatory reading. I can't win.

  • I always hated that about Bungie. The games could have been so much better if they had included just a fraction of material from the books. (Reach)

  • Exactly. I went back and reread the Reach book just before the game came out, and that was the biggest disappointment since the Halo 2 cliffhanger. All the timelines I'd been studying of when battles took place, how the war was at that time etc. meant absolutely nothing.

It took me a while to accept they retconned the true method of the Covenant's invasion. I was pretty disappointed and befuddled at first, "What, what are the Covenant doing here a month early?"
