The majority of psychologists are Freudian, or neo-freudian, believing in the psyche (which is interchangeable with "soul') generally, psychologists who use psycho-dynamics believe in the psyche/soul/spirit.

It is also an opinion that we were once something other than homo sapiens. There is evidence is evolution, but not that we were once anything else other than homo sapiens. There is literally no proof for that, it is simply an opinion. For all we know, we could have been genetically formed by aliens and dropped off here a long time ago.
