No. If I know I'm not going to survive something, I'm not going to do it. Giving my life to save one child prevents me from doing any more good in the future.
No. If I know I'm not going to survive something, I'm not going to do it. Giving my life to save one child prevents me from doing any more good in the future.
Kinda arrogant, no? I'm assuming I'm not going to do much good with the time I have on Earth. Saving a baby may well be the pinnacle for most. You also have the chance that the wee babby is going to grow up and do better than I.

If saving a baby is the "pinnacle" of your life, you must be at the bottom of the barrel. I, for one, have various commitments and responsibilities that I need to take care of, many of which involve people I care about. Throwing all that out the window for the sake of some kid is extremely irresponsible.

I can't say that many people would agree. Saving a life is not something many people do, and those that do are well regarded for it. I can;t imagine I'll amount to much. I can't imagine many people amount to much. Allowing someone the chance to live their life, and allowing their parents to see their baby again is something I think you may be in the minority of people for seeing as not being all that important. Unless you're a parent yourself, I guess I'd argue a single parent, then your responsibilities aren't so important as to overlook the saving of a baby.
