You can get As on matchmade, even if you don't kill everything. I do it frequently. All you need is enough base score, time left on the timer, and [i]you have to use new/featured gear[/i].
It's that last part that's ruining things the most at the moment. The requirement that you wear "new gear" because Bungie hates people using what they already have is why you're getting capped at B+.

I am already running all new gear except my Exotic armor. If that is the reason, then that is ridiculous

And that's where the problem lies. You can't force people to play new/featured gear to get an A grade in activities to get best tier loot, while saying you can play the way you want and get best loot.

And even then, the scoring still feel random.
