The fun factor of the game starts to taper off as you get close to 400, and once you get to 400… you have to jack up the difficulty so high, in order to get higher LL gear, that it’s just not fun. You can’t chill and enjoy the game while slowly chipping away at the grind to 450. There’s a reason that I don’t do contest raids, I don’t enjoy being stomped on for hours on end. I understand that some do, and that’s perfectly fine, not me. But to make it so that you have to jack everything up to contest mode level just to progress your light level after 400, that’s absurd. The old system made more sense at this point than the current one. Anyway, just my two cents, I’m sure I’ll have some agree and I’m sure I’ll have some flame me. Just, if you’re going to flame me, set yourself aside and try to see more than one perspective. I understand that some people like the challenge, and I do too within reason, just not in almost EVERY aspect of the game. Thanks for taking the time to read the post.

1 ReplySo why grind to 400? What’s the benefit? Tier 5 gear with better stat distribution? This new armor grind for gear ain’t it. I’m quickly losing my love for this game with this grind.

I'm bored at 270
-
It sucks. I'm only in the low 300's right now. Good grief..... I was in a the master pale heart strike last night via the portal and players kept dying and baling out. By the time I hit 400, I think that will be my opportunity to move on to some other games that are in my "to be played" pile. Plus, I'll just be grinding out again when the next season rolls around. As long as I've gotten a few great new weapons, season rewards, and have experienced certain events, even if it's not for 100 or 1000 times over and over, I'll be happy.

But if you don’t that’s fine. Customize your activities to match how hard you want your stuff to be.

Just Stay at 400. U will be gping down to 200 anyways lol. Just get those t5 loot. Thats the real grind not LL.
-
What are you babbling about? 400 is cake, you only need a few modifiers which don't even change the power from 400, to get b+. Makes no difference how hard you make it you are still at the mercy of rng & facing a punishing grind, no drops are guaranteed
-
here's a tip: don't grind past 400 if it isn't fun for you and another: get to 500 power after Sep 9 much more easily for the same or greater level of rewards you would get at 450 last one: you do not need to have a projected "A" score to get "A" rewards, meaning less modifiers are necessary than it seems you are currently using

1 ReplyYup it feels like a full-time job lol Pretty sure the prime engrams are either bugged or the drop rate is like 5% Its not fun as there isnt a single thing in the game currently that can give get u prime drops apart from going to see Zavala. This is not the way forward in the game, no way i am reaching 450. I've seen 4 primes since last reset 9 days ago

6 RepliesOnce i got to 400… i ran a ton of solos until i got bored with it. Ive actually got bored enough to resort to playing Trials, comp, regular control… just to get my blood pressure up a bit. I am actually finding myself missing iron banner… and i hate pvp.
-
💯 agree, I've stopped playing now I've reached 420, it's not a fun game anymore.
-
During the solstice, the scaling was dirt easy for leveling. FOMO is here for not only gear/weapons but efficient leveling.
-
I used to be an adventurer like you. Until....
-
l actually feel bungie should pay anyone who plays this trash. once at 400 you will see how bad bungie screwed up.
-
Yep no reason to -blam!- to 450. I’m just working on my hunters armor to try and get better rolls. All I get is health rolls even though my mod is focused differently. I’m eagerly waiting for Borderlands Destiny is in a bad place right now. Although I don’t mind the portal and I do like the armor and weapons tiers but it is deflating how brutal the grind is and how bad the drops are.
-
I am broken at 390, I cannot play the same stuff time after time. I am so bored.
-
Ding ding ding ding ding ding -blam!- ding -blam!- ding dang ding deng -blam!- ding. You've Won!
half a sandwich, and some cranberry juice

It's all I had.
Yes i enjoyed getting to 400 , now i can't level up 1 level, for 7 hours of grinding. Maybe you have to be in a clan.
-
I think my new plan is to only grind super hard during events like solstice. If I can grind event stuff with a chance to get higher tier gear i will do that instead of wasting my time on getting to 450. So I am 300 the next time I really play will be the ash and iron story, the new activity, the exotic missions and finally festival of the lost. Then wait for renegades.

9 RepliesNow Solstice has gone you shouldn’t be trying to boost your score up to an A, leave it at B+ and use a couple of the positive modifiers. As I’m writing this the daily solo-op is the Salt Mines and brawler and grenadier are featured as positive modifiers. Your focus should now be getting through these activities as quickly as possible anywhere from 4-6 mins depending on the map is decent, I say this and as you’ve already mentioned once you hit 400 the true grind begins and only prime engrams will increase your power level. Prime engram drop chance is supposedly set at around 5% so it would take 20 runs to get a guaranteed drop although I have seen them drop after 8-10 runs and upwards of nearly 30 so figure that one out. Why the bigger score doesn’t really matter as much now (now solstice has gone) or at least why I think it doesn’t is because the game will only give T4 gear upon an activity completion, if you’re prepared to grind from 400-450 it should be with the mindset that you’re wanting to get T5’s so anything between 400-450 should just be fluff and filler and a nice source of unstable cores. The TL;DR is once you hit 400 speed run the activity (if you weren’t already) and aim to get 10-12 runs in per hour. It’s incredibly boring and mind-numbing but it’s the most efficient way to farm those primes.

5 RepliesEdited by PROCK7: 8/21/2025 12:25:51 AMWhen I was 320, I could do solo ops and get an A with +4-5 for an award. Now I’m at 347 and at A I’m seeing +3 only. I also hit 110 on the seasonal reward battle pass. I never hit that before hitting max light and going up +10-15. My point is I’ve done a similar amount of grind from previous seasons but I’m not at max power. That’s a bad system. And in less than 3 weeks the max goes to 550. Just insane how they did this.
-
I stopped last week when I realised it resets . Also that’s how strong the power grind is in destiny . I control now and again , I get gear to push up my power which I still get a small kick from then instantly remind myself it really means nothing now 🤷🏼♂️
-
1 Reply40 light under honestly isn’t that bad, so I don’t mind the difficulty, the issue is how LONG it takes. The fact that I have to complete multiple activities to just ONE prime drop is the exact reason why I’ll be taking a break until Ash and Iron. This is ridiculous.
-
it was fun before that?
-
Really? I think it sucks, and is incredibly boring.
