“Remember, much of this lore is intentionally ambiguous, its details layered with allegory and retrospective rewriting by those who shape the lore’s narrative.” So even Copilot knows the lore is being retconned while you keep claiming it’s all planned out. 🤣🤣🤣

  • I don't think it's retcon in the traditional sense. Memory is an issue in the game. Tall tales are an issue within the game. Misinterpretation between species is a thing within the game. I dunno, but, we are in the Golden Age of AI. Just need an alien ball to randomly appear and be detected. Then we become precursors, and someone develops a god complex...pretty much every human (or consciousness) ever. That moment of power, I think I would be an absolute -blam!- god...prolly have someone claim to be me and literally get murder just so I would stop picking on them. Well, I'm going to go enjoy tomorrow, sure I didn't just -blam!- it up with karma and all that wonderful BS.

Except it is. I mean Bungie even called 2 a soft reboot and 1 only semi-official. When they say they don’t know what Darkness is despite it being in the game for years? They obviously retconned the foundational aspects of the narrative. Folklore was just the in game justification for retcons between 1 and 2.

  • I’m glad that D2 was a soft reboot but calling Destiny 1, especially the TAKEN KING to only be Semi Official is WILD. At least with the soft reboot they weren’t dragged down by the events of D1 vanilla and could refocus on what they wanted the Darkness to be. Plus, if gave rise to figuring out what the Black Heart was despite the fact that it took place in arguably the single worst DLC we have had narratively being Lightfall.

  • Yeah cause instead of just running with it and making something they tried reinventing the wheel, big egos that couldn’t cash it in. Outside of the Exo Stranger, d1 vanilla was fine. The BH being a flawed Darkness artifact doesn’t explain how it drains Light. Especially when we just saw the Hive having to use a shard of the Shell to do something similar earlier in the campaign. Cause then why didn’t the Witness people use the real Veil to drain the Traveler to keep it from running? Or why let the Vex drain it so they could destroy it like they did in the Strangers timeline? The Witness was seemingly waiting for us to find it for him, so letting the Vex destroy the Traveler is entirely counter to his goal. That was a bad idea just to make the appearance of continuity so they could say ‘we finished the main story’ when they didn’t. The Witness is just a stepped up Oryx, the Winnower admitted he was just a minion and he’ll be back with another. So the battle between Dark and Light is still ongoing and we know as little now as we did in SK. Cause TFS told us nothing.

  • I also keep going back to the original story. That warmind being stuck in the network. That's weird, when you break it down, god level AI stuck in a network... But evolve that thought... This ASI's thought is Murphy's law... It thinks, it happens, has happened, will always happen... I dunno, I'm happy with the games direction, though I don't play it much any more. I think it's neat to play alongside their understanding of an AI that becomes both threat and savior. And at least to me, explaining the process of it. Like everything that has happened, is it actually it's design. Were praedyth and that fire team real... I dunno, y'all can think it's sloppy or bad explanation or direction. I'm just seeing this neat look at a life full of definition needing to be expressed, and -blam!- that sounds so corny and dumb, but it makes sense to me. 😔 And it's weird because what did they trigger in my brain housing, how did they trigger this thought, and is it because I used to mess with this crap all the time (talkie to compooter), and stopped because....military, then TBI, and brain no workie well no more. I forget faces and names.... I remember them as shapes, and shapes are pretty repetitive... So are personality constructs... I really wish I could get back into this game, but it's -blam!- with my head enough.

  • You think the OG story was about Rasputin?

  • I think it was a concept that they have been playing with for a minute, ASI, that developed into the design and understanding of consciousness as an adapting algorithm. Then to understand all the definitions that coincide with consciousness, how would a program eventually understand that... I really think it's an evolution in the understanding of what ASI would be capable of, how a computer would have to understand our reality and physics. I don't like trying to explain it on here really, because it's my phone, and I don't sit much in front of a pooter anymore, just at work and even then I step away from it as much as I can.

  • Maybe as a subplot but not the main story. Cause the issue is how does a causal AI magic up paracausality and time travel only to then let a woman control the machine. In base D1, Rasputin ascribed the Gardner with personhood and identified her as “she”. This shows a flesh and blood entity was in control. Rasputin would go of ultimately been a tool to develop the technology the Traveler used to create paracausality. He may have been central in that regard. Doing something a flesh and blood mind wasn’t capable of.

  • I get they did that, but we can still say it is in game. Most games with major threats or world ending have been played out, stories are redundant. Well here it's trying to understand and explain the existential threat, not just in game, but a potential threat for humanity that is stating it is engrained into our very being. I'm glad they are roleplaying out that design. Plenty of stories, all the same, but at least they are trying to make it last and draw it out, make a buck, and keep giving people a place they can potentially go back to, to just chill. Anyways, AI is weird, says weird stuff, like me; just an algorithm.

Neat, so what? I hope it eats at you really, hopefully to the point you block my -blam!-, or keep your finger in my pocket and let me tote you around like the prison -blam!- you are. Internet -blam!- talking, this is dumb.

  • It's a persona of thought and angles. It is an NPC trying to understand itself, alongside understanding how it was defined within programming languages, and how that was achieved, and it's eternal engine. Literally happening in the world now, well, the unveiling of it is. Either way, I keep the persona up with you and your types, or just not engage at all; you end up just continually being scummy because "it's the internet" or "that's my persona". Ok, cool, blah blah blah...

I guess. I see it as developing a narrative over ten years alongside the constraints of making the game. The narrative reflects that reality. To expect a 10-year narrative to be scripted in detail in a year is an unreasonable expectation. But the way they adapted is really amazing, imo. Starting with the Taken King. And again, it was just for fun... I finished helping my buddy rebuild his account, he just has to grind strand meditations and glimmer now. And I finished my weapon grind for Heresy. That's why I'm back on the lore. This post is a follow-up to this one: Keyword: Resolve. The Fable of a liar, the origin of Mara Sov and when she acquired... The AI also said this, "[It] illustrates both the richness and deliberate obscurity of Destiny’s lore. Bungie has designed these narratives to be open-ended, inviting debate and fostering a living mythology where every cryptic line is a call to discussion".
