As an experienced players I advocate for a Mod Kiosk

I since day one have never liked, nor agreed with FOMO as a way to push season pass sales. And now New Lights don't have half or 3/4 of the mods experienced/bet players have, it's starting to get in the way for them, and for those of us tryna help people get better builds. So I present: A kiosk in which all mods all available for the same price as banshee or Ada that way new players don't have to keep asking where to get this mod or that mod that other players have.

  • Lol wow- your timing here is hilarious. Literally the day before Bungie announces they are unlocking all non raid armor Mods for all players for free. Kiosk idea was good! But just getting them for free is even better, albeit unexpected

Does anyone remember when Bungie gave everyone the G'horn and then nerfed it a few weeks later? I won't be surprised if their doing something similar with MODS because they don't just give things to people. This is Bungie we're talking about after all.

Apparently, bungie are making all non raid mods available to all.

    • Just unlock them all for everyone, no kiosk required. 2 years since there was even a new one introduced, and there's more than enough FOMO in the game already without having to check for mods daily and cutting the legs out of people's build crafting.

        • Or just give everyone all the non-seasonal mods for free. There's no good argument to why everyone doesn't have them.

        • Why don’t we just give all new players all the mods, why require any effort on their part? I will agree there needs to be a better way to farm mods, but handing them out is not the way.

          • Smart idea. At the very least we should have more than 4 mods available daily.

          • This is a good idea. They could still have top tier mods cycle weekly or even tie them to Banshee/Ada bounties. TBF I feel like they threw mods on ADA for people to have a reason to go see her in the basement beyond cosmetics. Someone else suggested a shader vendor... they could even combine the mods and shaders into one vendor.

          • The game has been out awhile. Items we had gotten thru gameplay, they need immediate access to. If they do enough activities, each weekly reset should give them shards.cores, upgrade modules.prisms and ascendant shards.

          • To all the people saying you “grind” for mods… I call be in that. There isn’t a single mod in this game that required grinding. The closest thing to that was like season of dawn and the different vendor points on the different zones if I recall… and if you played the seasonal activities at all it happened naturally. Honestly they just need to add a page to Ada-1 with all of them for sale for glimmer or shards. Make them expensive and keep the weekly/daily rotation for discounts. Who in the world gives a flying flip if another player gets a mod quickly instead of some other time gate?! This community man… eeeeesh

            • As a response to those saying new lights should have to grind to get them, I suggest that when they reach a power level where blues no longer drop at the end of playlist activities, they instead get one random mod (not including mods only available from certain locations like raids). This would still require lots of time spent in the playlists to get them, and delays giving access to mods until they are in a near endgame position in terms of light level. Or you know, people stop gatekeeping stuff that helps people enjoy end game content and Bungie sets up a mod kiosk.

              • Should new lights be given everything straight off the bat ? No tbf. I and many others have grinded this game for things. Adding mods as a random drop is fine.

Something like what you're describing should definitely be considered because the goal for getting new players to start and keep playing should be for them to start out by playing the game instead of playing a prohibitive amount of catchup. There's already enough of a learning curve to getting into the game as it is without also having to pray for certain mods to show up randomly. As far as people thinking it would be the equivalent of giving handouts, having a giant list of mods is something that no veteran player had to deal with because they were able to basically acquire them slowly and passively over the course of years. So its not really logical to expect new players to randomly acquire mods to play what's in the game currently over the course of years or really even months given the current pacing of seasons. Something like a kiosk would be good because it wouldn't really be just giving them all immediately but it would allow targeted acquisition where new players would have to still think about what they're getting and why they need it.

                • Trying to explain to my new light friend how to get mods and what they are used for is so frustrating because the game makes it unnecessarily hard
