They are essential as game is suffering massively from power creep only way champs go is if our gear gets sunset (personally think that’s the best solution imo)

They don’t fix power creep, just stall it a season or two in some content. Bungie has power creep under control. Just let GMs use the current meta.
-
Apple vs Oranges, if you say that so pvp should restrict weapons too, which isn't the case.
-
I’d take champion mods over sunsetting any day
-
It’s little to do with power creep. It’s about trying to force a PvE meta, and eventually force some people off their preferred loadouts. It also helps fill out the artifact to make curating 25 mods every 3 months a bit easier. They’re more like negative power creep. You need to equip specific gear, in some cases maybe even double primary, just to have the power to kill a champion and progress. Combined with things like match game and locked loadouts and for many players much of the fun was all sucked out of the game. If the next raid required a mod that could only be used on energy handcannons and kinetic side arms, and it was the only way to damage the bosses, I think people would be more than a little annoyed. Though I don’t know, maybe streamers would think it made for the best day one raid race ever.
-
At least you get it
-
The problem for me, and I see it in others, the more and more restrictive the game gets in our loadouts it doesn’t make me want to play that content more. It has the opposite affect. I’d be less against it if we could even just get 9 permanent champion mods. Primary, special, heavy, and for each champ type. We still have to use them, we still have to give up some of the powerful arm mods to use them, but we can better create a loadout that we prefer to attack the champs and shield types.
-
We had that back when they were introduced. But they were assigned to weapon mod slots so people complained
-
They were still seasonally rotated back then, and still limited what weapons could be used with what mods. All they did was change where the mods needed to be equipped. The number and variety has been relatively unchanged since champions were introduced. It also meant that exotics could not get anti champion if it wasn’t made intrinsic so it would limit the loadouts even more. It was also even more rare to get any mods on a special or heavy weapon in the season. We’ve never truly had a “pick what ever you want” way of dealing with champs.
-
Would rather sacrifice weapon mods any day as nearly all of them are useless.
-
Yeah, though maybe that’s the point. For Bungie it wasn’t enough sacrifice. lol
-
What power creep? Enemies scale up to your power so if there's something too strong, it's on bungie for releasing the "power creep" like stasis on release despite knowing they need some nerfs
-
We are currently way way too powerful … abilities, exotics, armour and builds…
-
Heaven forbid literal GODSLAYERS have power amirite?
-
Heaven forbid we have challenges in a game going forward
-
There's enough of a challenge already, You want more, go play a souls game
-
We are currently way way too powerful … abilities, exotics, armour and builds…
The unfortunate casualties is when you just can’t use the Primary you want. Or you finally get the god roll you’ve been chasing for two seasons, but can’t use it, because “oh no, no mods for [insert weapon class here] this season”. Or a lost sector just lines up in a way with the mods, champions, and shield types that based on what weapons you even have in your vault, a player may not even be able to make a good loadout. Which is two problems manifesting itself. Overly restrictive champion mods and limited vault space. It also hurts for a friend I play with that has a very limited loadout they can even use. They barely keep anything but a few weapons, mostly auto rifles. So when there is not an auto rifle mod in a season it’s up to me and the other friend to loadout completely for the champions at. It would be nice if he could equip a champion mod of his choice just to help fill in a gap or double up. Should he have to use pulse rifles, side arms, scouts, etc? Maybe. But he hates using those weapons. It’s not like him being able to put any champion mod towards his AR would make him way too over powered. It’s not like I think Gjallarhorn should be Anti Barrier and Disruption at the same time. Or I’m saying let us swap champion mods on the fly like alternate firing modes to get around locked loadouts modifiers. Without an intrinsic champ mod on an exotic, or a seasonal mod that gives my melee or grenade anti champ, we’d still be limited to two champ mods of our choice. Maybe make the general use mods have a cost of primary -3 special -5, heavy -7 energy. Then seasonal mods can be like they are now, targeted to specific weapon types for a cheaper energy cost, which could still allow for double primaries if you wanted, as they could allow the seasonal mod to override other mods.
-
Then it's on bungie for making them too powerful and no reason on shoehorning players to only a handful of weapons because "power creep"
-
U want no champs we need a reset on gear
-
They are essential as game is suffering massively from power creep only way champs go is if our gear gets sunset (personally think that’s the best solution imo)
This is delusional. Our gear is not power crept at all. There is no difference between a scout you will have now, or when they rerelease/re-skin it 3 seasons later. The only weapons that were an issue were purged. Bungie regularly nerfs and obliterates the outliers on a frequent basis. This power creep you keep going on about does not exist in this game except in very short bursts. Anarchy was go too, nerfed. Machine guns too strong, nerfed. AR meta? Nerfed. Swords -OP…nerfed. So stop this sunsetting Crusade you are on, gear gets adjusted accordingly all the time. Next on the chopping block is Divinity. This power creep you keep talking about is not an issue.
-
Thank you its nice to see some understands how bs the powercreep argument is for this game.
-
It is delusional to think it doesn’t exist
-
It is delusional to think it doesn’t exist
You have done exactly 1 grandmaster nightfall, so where are you seeing this power creep? You do not participate in high enough level content to get a good feel for “power creep”. Don’t bother replying, because after seeing this I know I won’t.
-
Ok… gms are the pinnacle pve activity correct?? I’ve had no reason to do any, no desire to and the one I did was a joke it was so ez… why??? Power creep 2 stasis warlocks with osmiomancy gloves perma froze everything … did it first try no resets that’s showing we are too powerful

And you only cleared it by cheesing out of bounds at the boss.
-
No I didn’t didn’t need to… everything was perma frozen lol
