I am definitely playing more PVP now and the main reason is because of SBMM I definitely loose multiple runs but it’s fun and enjoyable as you don’t get destroyed by pro players instead you can see other players have a similar skill level and it’s more enjoyable. Hope Bungie can improve it the SBMM as I know this is just start of it.
Thank you Bungie

50 RepliesEdited by hate n payne: 9/12/2022 4:04:37 PMThe fact players are comparing your experience in fun to your stats is alarming. This community is toxic and it starts with stats aligned with elitism. Bungie should have never switched to CBMM while attempting to bring competitiveness into the game with Trials. That mess has gotten to these clowns’ head.

1 ReplyI can't even tell the difference in my lobbies compared to what they were before. Still laggy, still whatever team mates, basically same ol same ol.
-
7 RepliesApparently reading through the forums they are also punishing quitting as well now 😂. No more stat padding.👍
-
45 RepliesNow lag is unbearable, worse than ever before. SBMM is an abomination that should have never existed.

2 RepliesLmao your playing rift that has no sbmm

You're cringe

2 RepliesAnd im not playing pvp because of sdmm.

Disagree. The amount of quitters in the small amount of control matches I’ve played is astonishing and I hate it. I had problems with cbmm too but at least they stayed in the damn match. Played hella IB last weak and it was a breath of fresh air in both freelance and normal matchmaking.

6 RepliesThank you bungie for catering to my incompetence! Next up: sb for raids, since I suck at raiding oryx should spawn in at 25% health. If you're a team of skilled raiders you should be required to flawless the raid while doing all triumphs and challenges. This is only fair since you had the gall to improve while I was lazy.

Edited by kime: 9/13/2022 2:54:56 AMI used to like playing Momentum Control and Iron Banner, but now I just can't stand them anymore without SBMM. It is such a pain to play a game mode with CBMM after enjoying playing SBMM lately! I will stick with SBMM only going forward unless I'll want to grind something in IB

1 ReplyEven for sweaty pvp its honestly a lot more fun

30 RepliesMy SO plays chess online. He usually plays his friends (who aren't as skilled) and wins easily, so his overall score is @ 1800. He claims he is really a 1400 player. He gets matched with 1800 players because the app has him ranked at 1800. When he plays strangers in the 1800 peer group, he loses every time. His opponents wipe the floor with him. He had to start throwing games with his friends to get his score down so his "chess K/D" would be lower and he'd get paired with his real peer group. In the 1400 peer group, he has a chance of winning and he can work on his skills. This is what is happening in SBMM. Better players think it is sweaty because their K/Ds are inflated from playing lesser-skilled players. They'll eventually lose enough to fall into the peer group where they belong and the games will be fun, not sweaty. The problem is, they egotistically believe they are "1800 chess players" instead of humbly realizing they are "1400 chess players". Lesser skilled players will also notice their K/Ds go up and games will become more challenging. Your real K/D is wherever it lingers most often and where games are challenging but winnable in SMBB modes like Survival, or like the rest of Crucible now.

It’s absurd to think that players still think that Destiny pvp should be taken as seriously as it is. Since you get killed by random -blam!- and there’s lag everywhere, ones KD doesn’t mean -blam!- in this game.

3 RepliesGlad you're enjoying the changes! I've also noticed a huge shift in games! It's finally worth playing Control. Also, people need to quit bringing up stats. Stats mean literally nothing

2 RepliesI’ll say it in here I guess. I’m pretty terrible at pvp myself. I’m 38 years old and been playing since day 1. Destiny pvp is just very complex with all the abilities and aerial aspect….. I took more than a year off from destiny and came back a couple weeks ago. I’ve played a few games of control and iron banner and I just say that it is much much more enjoyable for someone of my skill level. It’s very nice to run into other bots that aren’t great and kill them instead of getting spawn killed by the same top tier player’s super that originally killed me.

4 RepliesI just reset my Crucible rank for the third time this season. I haven't even reset Zavala yet!! For me that's a radical change from the norm, I avoided PVP like the plague. Bungie hit a home run here.
-
1 ReplyEasy fix to make everyone happy, normal PvP and comp have separate skill ranking, if you want to play casually and not sweat then play normal, if you want to sweat play comp. done.

Im not seeing any difference with sbmm. I’m seeing flawless seals. That’s not my skill level at all. When the enemy team just runs through you like it was nothing it doesn’t seem to be this relaxing game mode. Oh it’s relaxing for the opposite team.

I don't know the last 3-4 days i think they turned it off. Been getting into some matches that are now mercy with 4.0-5.0 KD on the opposition. Mind you it don't help that they put stacks together and the other team is the randoms. Was good at the start of the season but the last few days have been terrible.

28 RepliesI have more kills in this weeks iron banner than you have in your pvp life.. now I know why you like sbmm 😉
-
7 RepliesI did a Rumble match for a bounty and all I got was 3 kills which put me in the #5 spot LOL. The number 2 guy got 6 kills. The number one guy...20 kills...SBMM doesn't seem to be doing much IMO

19 RepliesEdited by Dubufu: 9/13/2022 1:16:39 AMI can't wait for these same players to complain about lobby balancing in other playlists that use CBMM when they realize they weren't actually improving under skill based matchmaking. The truth is, these people don't actually want to play against players even slightly above average. Throw them into Freelance Iron Banner a few months from now and watch the reality check hit. Remember: If your control performance is notably better than your Iron Banner performance this season - you didn't improve, you're just being protected

Petition to change the name of Disjunction to "Perfect Storm." At least I can't say what happens on that map is all the game's fault.

35 RepliesAh... thank you Bungie for adding a manipulative algorithm that forces 50% W/L ratios with no regard for actual skill 👍

I too love sbmm. However I feel it isn’t working as intended this week. Last week was great. Last few days tho I’ve had and faced both new light players and bottom 30% players. Now I’m no god at pvp rather average in the top 20% and I feel that sbmm had failed those players. I can’t imagine they had fun going against me get a 5.0 KD while they had a 0.23. Now I know it loose sbmm and with iron banner the community being spit between the two game modes means control will grab anyone and everyone after a certain amount of time passes. So hopefully next week the these new players get better matches and these isn’t a reoccurring theme.

4 RepliesIt's not working right at all. It's matching teams on "skill" yet the lobbies are severely imbalanced. My last IB I came in 1st with like 23 kills and a 7.5 KDA. The 1st place player on the other team had maybe 17 kills with a 1.5 kda. Almost the rest of my entire team did better or as good as their first place player. The rest of his team got mopped up... How is this skill based then? Either we get stomped or we stomp. It's just like before with cbmm only more lag, melee hit reg is so unreliable that I'm afraid to throw hands bc it'll probably whiff...lol. Something else needs done.
