Unless you are in a Private match PvP should never be "chill", it should be competitive. You should always face opponents that are within a reasonable range above and below your skill level. Remember, that in order for one player to have a chill PvP experience means that it will be sweaty for others.
If people want a "chill" gaming experience then I would suggest running Vanguard Ops or going on patrol.
The ONLY concerns I can agree with in regards to the new Loose SBMM system is longer queue times and connection quality (players quitting is NOT a true matchmaking issue). HOPEFULLY Bungie will be able to dial in the matchmaking settings in order to provide a "best of both worlds" experience, but only time will tell.

Edited by SkinPoppeR: 9/7/2022 3:56:48 AMI mean I’m sure crossplay doesn’t help. Folks on PC have a massive advantage over consoles. You can train your hand eye coordination to be instantaneous and pinpoint with a mouse. You have to wait and measure joystick drift and targeting. I’m 40 years old and let me tell ya my console aim is not what it was in 2007. That said when I push or try to play good, I do play better. But almost all my deaths are Hunters just peaking around corners with scouts and hand canons. Or they just wait around a doorway. When you get sniped in one shot in a game like Destiny that’s not a “Skill” curve. That’s just someone using Meta to the Max. I don’t like Meta never have. I do not like Bungie telling me how I should play the game. What’s funny is I played all day today. I was utter garbage. Some games I didn’t even fire and just walked through the map so the other team could win and the game could finish. My K/D went from 1.00 to 0.99..... I’m starting to think nothing matters and it’s just a wild wave of ups and downs and zero consistency at all between actually putting matching levels together. One match it feels okay. Next it’s just instakill.

Cross Play for consoles should only include PS, XBOX and Stadia(?) players. Console players will never play against PC unless they join a fireteam with a PC player. That said, I think there was(still is???) a bug where PC players could get into Console lobbies, or at least I think I read about one but could be wrong. The match making still isn't "perfect" by any means and never will be as long as Peer-to-Peer networking sticks around. Neither SBMM nor CBMM really work depending on where you fall in the skill curve, so this new hybrid approach (Loose SBMM) will hopefully end up being better once they fine tune it a bit. It still may not end up working out, but at least they are trying. They still need to do better at lobby balancing no matter what the matchmaking algorithm ends up being. I think that is the main reason some matches feel OK while others are crap. Sometimes the lobby gets balanced out well, other times the 4-5 best players are on the same team and the match is over before it starts.
