[u]Update 5[/u] Just to recap the problem... Players are limited to 1 Silver Ash per Bash run (with no progress credited to the Ash Tray event challenge). The problem seems to start once a player has upgraded 3 or maybe 4 pieces of the event armor on a single character. So this problem mainly impacts players who run multiple characters. Reports of this problem began almost immediately, perhaps on the first day of the event. Bungie had yet to officially acknowledge this near event breaking bug. Instead (ten days and one patch later), they have focused on patching Silver Ash farming methods and a too good weapon perk. For those stuck in progressing the event quest and challenges, here is a work around that I have found to work. Prior to running Bash, spend Ash to upgrade a piece of armor. If you lack the kindling to unlock an Ash upgrade, buy a piece of already completed armor from Eva, spending only glimmer and shards (do no spend Ash as you may not be able to make-up the loss). As far as I can tell, using Ash to buy armor from Eva has no impact on this problem, other than leave you with less Ash. Using 20 Ash will yield 26 Ash from the Bash, for a net gain of 6. Using 40 Ash yields 51 for a net gain of 11. Using 60 Ash yields 76 for a net gain of 16. For those without enough Ash to upgrade a piece of armor, I guess you will have to farm 1 at a time until you have 20. At least until Bungie fixes this, but I would not count on it! [u]End Update 5[/u] As others (perhaps all) players have already reported, Silver Ash is not (stops after some point) awarded to alternate/secondary characters, preventing completion of the Ash Tray event quest. For me, the problem seemed to started around the time I had fully upgraded the fourth piece of armor on my main character. From that point, my alternates started having issues. Doing the Bash activity would take 20 Silver Leaves; the award feed would show 1 Silver Ash awarded, [b]but [/b]the Ash Tray quest would have no progress. Please note that I can still earn Ash on my main character. I have been searching for work-arounds (since Bungie seems to have no interest in fixing this). Here is what I've found so far. Any tips from others would be appreciated. Before doing Bash, use some Ash to upgrade a piece of gear on the (alternate) character, then run the activity. So far in limited testing on my two alternate characters: First one got 100 Ash on 1st run, 25 on 2nd run. Second character got 25 Ash on only run. I all cases, 20 Leaves were consumed. I really wish Bungie would acknowledge this problem and state their plans to fix it (or not). I realize that some forum moderators have responded to this problem [b]but [/b]until Bungie actually makes a statement, I have to assume that they do not care about the state of this game event. [u]Update 1[/u] Have done a bit more testing. Work-around seems to work... On problem character, apply ash to a piece of armor before entering bash. Should earn some ash, but usually less than the expected 100 (45-50 seems common). Must then repeat applying Ash as consecutive runs usually yield 0 progress. Hope to test again later this evening. [u]Update 2[/u] Still testing work around. Managed to finish Ash Tray on second character last night. Started on third this morning (has least progress on quest). First run after apply 60 ssh to armor, got 76 ssh with 75 credited to Ash Tray. No ash used before 2nd run. Got 1 ash with no quest progress. For third run, applied 20 ash. Got 26 ash with 25 credited to quest,. Need to earn more leaves... Wonder what today's update will break. Kind of doubt they will fix this. Note likely it is for the weapon perk that benefits the player since that is more important than ash not awarded preventing quest progress. [u]Update 3[/u] Final (?) thoughts on my work around for alternate characters not receiving silver ash... Use 20 ash on armor before bash. Expect 26 ash awarded witb 25 counted for Ash Tray quest. Use 60 ash on armor before bash. Expect 76 ash awarded with 75 counted for Ash Tray quest. Please note that using ash to buy armor from Eva [b]does not work.[/b] Expect 1 ash rewarded with no quest progress. Hopefully this will be all moot tomorrow if Bungie actually pays attention to player complaints and fixes this problem. But I hope to wrap this up before then in case they make things worse. [u]Update 4[/u] I see that the recent patch, rather than fixing the problem, has made things worse. Now my main (which has finished the event quests and all armor) now only earns 1 ash per run like my alts. Have not tested my work around since the patch on my alts... Need to finish the kindling quests so I can put ash into the armor. Just hope I can earn enough ash to replace the amount I use, or may not be able to fully upgrade my remaining gear. As for the patch, it is good to know that Bungie focuses on things that benefit the player (i.e. cannot have a weapon perk working better than expected or have ways to farm silver leaves). These need to be fixed ASAP while bugs like this silver ash problem are a low priority. I guess they will fix it for the next Summer Solstice event, probably by removing it and replacing with something that has a whole new set of bugs.
