Personal responsibility huh? How about the past generations take some personal responsibility for the state of the economy then and give us young people the same prosperous times they enjoyed because it is an objective fact that it is harder to make it in today's economy and that has nothing to do with my generation. We don't make the rules. We barely even vote. Stfu with your clown -blam!- takes.

State of the economy? You think that the state of the Economy is responsible for you not having a job? You're entitled to it all? Personal responsibility is looking at what you might be good at (perhaps even enjoy as a calling anyhow) and studying to do THAT. Not picking something that doesn't have a job at the end of it. Most of the people whining and whinging about this are the like that took Social Studies, Music, etc. thinking there was a por o' gold at the end of that rainbow. 35 years later, after I got my degree without ANY of the loans, etc. and I'm still employed in the industry...says something about Personal Responsibility. If you're not there...you're not even close to having the room to remark.

Edited by Cal O'Mari: 5/29/2022 6:37:01 PMEdit: I don't think the links worked, heads up. So the year was 1987. Here's info showing college tuition costs over the years https://educationdata.org/average-cost-of-college-by-year Here's info showing average housing costs since 1940 https://ipropertymanagement.com/research/average-rent-by-year Here's info showing wages, and costs of everything pertaining to a functioning society, though it asks for downloads. I trust it, but its ALOT of info and reading. https://libraryguides.missouri.edu/pricesandwages/1980-1989 Here's a more user friendly, but basic wage guide with some other info https://www.statista.com/statistics/185335/median-hourly-earnings-of-wage-and-salary-workers/ I hope these links work. Bungie's sight sucks, but my biggest suggestion? Stop blaming each other and past generations. It always has been, and always will be our politicians and businesses. The politicians make all the decisions that the businesses lobby for, and in some cases, the business drafts the documents to give to the politicians, to be put into law. Population adds to that. We're all to blame here to a degree, because we all exist, but our primary components for this mess are the ones in charge who make all the laws. Tired of this "Well YOUR generation!..." its nonsense. Both of you get it together, and open up your eyes.

Working hard doesn’t have the same return on investment that it did before. Pretty easy to see that. Why go into debt, work your hands to the bone, etc. just to live in poverty your whole life. Previous generations had the world handed to them on a silver platter. They got the chance to work hard and see a good return on that. Today? Today you get to work so much you have no free time just so you can never retire and live poor the whole time. Offer value to the workers and they’ll work. That’s capitalism functioning as intended. In terms of the economy? Greedy older generations have destroyed the economy, refused to even entertain ideas about how to fix it and blame it all on young people who have very little control over anything. So as someone who has retired in my mid 30s after growing up dirt poor… the entitled ones aren’t my generation. It’s the boomers. The boomers who were handed everything they have compared to millennials who work just as hard and don’t get even 1/10th as much in return.

When did I say I don't have a job? When did I say I took pointless classes that won't contribute to my own personal success. Your entire world view is based on assumptions of those around you. How on Earth is anyone supposed to take your seriously. It is an objective fact that it is harder to sustain one's self today, and your whole argument can be boiled down to avocado toast and smart phones. You aren't smart. Stfu.

You’re getting a taste of the 70’s economy right now. Yeah, the economy of your parents and grandparents. Young people have no idea of the sacrifices and work that went in to ‘prosperous’ times but experience is the best teacher. You think they didn’t have to work their asses off, pick up extra side gigs, sacrifice wants for needs.

Actually? You may be facing the economy of the 30's before it's all said and done...for much of the same reasons. There's a reason Great Grans kept tin foil after it was used, kept bacon grease, etc. You're all about to find out.

Preach it.
