Only having access to 4 emotes at a time out of such a large selection is terrible design, if pressing down on the d-pad or a designated keybind on keyboard instead brought up a radial menu while held down it would be possible to bind 8-12 additional emotes to a wheel that could be selected from with a thumbstick or mouse cursor, triggering the chosen emote when the button is released.
Plenty of other multiplayer games that have emotes have been using systems like that for years, why is D2 still stuck in the dark ages?!

personally, I'd rather the devs focus more on more important issues, like patching all the "killed by architect" BS deaths. There's absolutely no reason why tripping over a pebble should be an instant death
-
I'm imagining something like 2 emotes to a d-pad direction. Press a direction once brings up the emotes tied to ity and then press same button again to select the desired emote. However, the wheel idea does sound more user friendly but more design heavy.

Bungie buy our expensive emotes we constantly make and release. Also Bungie you have 300 of them? Well just pick 4 because......programming is hard.

I like the idea of a system to be able to map more emotes. I don't like the idea of it being a radial that you then have to use a thumb stick to select. It needs to stay on the D-Pad. They could make it where there is a second mapped grouping, and the down button toggles between the groups. This would increase the number of emotes you could map from 4-6 without making it cumbersome or intrusive by taking over other inputs.

2 RepliesI'd rather have a compass.

Please yes

20 RepliesProbably a good idea. Personally I wouldn’t care if they just got rid of the stupid things. But I know some people weirdly enjoy them. I wish they actually made useful ones though. Ones that could be used to actually communicate to players who may not be reading chat or have a mic. I don’t wanna pet a chicken in front of my team mates. I don’t wanna have a fake tea party. Give us actual useful emotes.

6 RepliesWow. That actually is a good idea. It is very original (never seen someone post about this) and very smart (you even told them what they need to do to make it useful). Good on ya

I say make down an Emote Wheel that can be used with both the joysticks. That gives you 16 bindings to make use of. In fact do that but make them custom bindings kinda like Macros but for controllers.

this is a great idea but i really hope bungie prioritizes other things like fixing the text chat or bringing new maps to pvp etc

I agree 100%

Or the UP to Mark enemies

Does anyone know if DIM saves emotes? If so I’m about to go make tons on emote loadouts…
-
We don’t need any more work to be wasted on emotes than there already is

Edited by Razgriz: 3/30/2022 9:02:22 AMAgree. At the moment I’m rotating 2 emote packs. The first where I’m solo or LFG and I need to communicate with my team when I cba to mic up. (Up = yes, down = no, left = thanks, right = eeww) The second when I’m with my guys and want to show off/have fun. Changing them around is a pain
-
I'd rather groupings. As in mark as many emotes as you like to each direction, and it'll do one randomly like finishers.
-
2 RepliesMeh on the emote thing really not a necessity. Now if the emote slots were converted to consumable hot keys, I’d totally go for it. Less menuing in pressure situations, providing there are enough consumables in the game to warrant it
-
9 RepliesI've never really understood peoples fascination with emotes.
-
They could allow use to bind consumables to the d-pad as well.

3 RepliesThis has been asked for years now. If I had to guess, not possible using their tech ( engine, bloated code or whatever)

The new emote wheel! Only 4.99 USD! Limited time offer…

Any extra work = not gonna happen
