Remember when weapons used to have weapon sights that could change zoom and aim assist? What happened to that? Now it's all barrel perks, even on scout rifles and snipers. Can we go back to having actual, changeable sights again? Maybe even add some for bows?

1 ReplyNot sure what you're talking about. True prophecy has sights. So does the guiding sight, the steady hand, horror story, nature of the beast, last perdition.

They release weapons skins that changes some of the weapons sight and selling it for real money. Its their policy to milk you for every dollar they can.
-
1 ReplyAs much as I liked it, they simplified it because everyone chose the low zoom scopes.
-
3 RepliesBecause everybody just chose the lowest zoom sight, making it completely pointless.

4 RepliesReally sights should stop effecting range and should be changeable. Really they already have this hole reload to change fire mode system. They should just add scopes with variable zoom, or offset iron and holo sights. ESPECIALLY to scout rifles. Let's think on it this way. You're carrying a hard hitting hakke scout rifle, engaging with a precision telescopic scope at range as your opponent attempts to close the gap. They've managed to keep to cover enough that your scope is a burden more than an asset. You have no special ammo so your choice is to try to open inventory and equip a hand cannon (unwise) or retreat. Only you have offset sights. So as the target closes you turn your weapon at a 45 degree angle and aim along your offset holosight, as your target pops around the corner you squeeze the trigger, at a disadvantage against a hand cannon sure, but because of the weapon, not the scope. The battle won you return to your scope and scan down range for your next target.

Or they don't want to design multiple sights for one gun. Maybe both 🤷

They’d need to change how zoom effects different weapons. They’d probably also need to increase the amount of stat changes each scope provides to be more similar to barrels. It’d be really nice, but a lot of work.
-
If I had to guess, mostly because barrels give more agency over your weapons feel. Barrels affect range, handling, recoil direction, and stability. Sights, if I remember right only do three of those.
-
Because that would be work, and we all know Bungle is Allergic to work because it's hard..

If they refocused in on foundries and their differences(I’d love a few seasons with one of the foundries “sponsoring” the weapons for each season). If Bungie wanted to reorient themselves towards having Omolon have multiple sights on guns since they were for more customizable options I think that’d be a good idea.

The reasoning behind it from my perspective is that they don't like how the scopes artificially make a weapons range beyond what it should. So in the process of weeding out big outliers they took it away. For the weapons that have higher zoom built into them due to the scope they give it (the number, scathelocke, etc) I'd assume it's because the actual scopes themselves are just the best feeling options of the bunch and as an added bonus to give them value, they just let them keep the zoom.

I’m sure you could find it if you search it up though.

5 RepliesOh, it's still there. You tend to see them on Sidearms, Fusions.

It's likely due to adding another layer of god roll hunting for some weapons (Alongside the perks, mag and rifling rolls) it would be a lot more work. That and for some weapons 90% of the sights wouldn't be used over a low zoom sight
