Dear Community,
I have a confession to make... I am leaving Destiny 2 for good.
I have been playing the Destiny franchise for many years, up and down. In fact: I was there when Destiny 1's Beta launched, I played Destiny 1 with all my heart, left, then returned again. Two accounts and one console later, I found myself playing on PC. But I am afraid, my time has come to finally leave this franchise behind. I am leaving, and it is better this way.
There are many reasons that cause my leaving.
This game has swallowed so much money and time. I purchased everything on PS3, PS4 and now on PC as well... it is getting too much. This might be an unpopular opinion, but compared to the OG Destiny 1, Destiny 2 has become a huge colorful circus kept alive by fanservice, transactions and repetitive activites that are all more or less the same. It is kept alive by cliffhangers, so we put in more money to be able to experience the next lore section. Once this game was very special to me, now it isn't anymore.
The Raids are nothing special anymore, the gear is not special anymore. The lore... is becoming confusing and it feels like, all that the lore is giving away to this recent day, was never supposed to be the way it is now. I think, that the lore how it is written today, is not even compatible with how Destiny 1 was originally planned. An example, one states Osiris and Saint-14 have a parental relationship, that Saint-14 was like a son to him... Next thing we know, they are in love. I wonder if you let the community decide what you write next. Time spent on details I never even thought about when I first played Destiny. All I ever wanted to know, was, what the Traveler was.
I remember when I ground out my teeth for a Sword on Destiny 1 because it was that good and special. Doing Raids in Destiny 1 made you feel like a true veteran, it made you feel special. Today I claimed the Lament and it felt underwhelming, just another tool my Guardian throws into her vault never to be seen again. It feels like doing chores and it doesn't excite me anymore as it used to. But hey, after this Season, the cycle begins anew... Though this time, I refuse to spend more money on it.
The Destiny franchise became twisted with Destiny 2. I know, Bungie is trying, but honestly, I wish the old days back. They are getting off-track and it feels like an endless cliffhanger. I feel like I throw coins into a slot machine where I put in money without knowing if it's worth the price (Beyond: Light) and just get anything. By the third game of massive grinding, I will probably still not know what the Traveler really is.
I appreciate a lot of things about Destiny. The merch is cool, the art/design is amazing, the Grimoire Anthologies are awesome - I even bought the cooking book. The soundtracks are tiny masterworks filled with emotion and the essence of beautiful music. The creative side does grand work... But the game has been packaged badly.
So, I bid farewell. Thank you for the memories, Destiny & Bungie.

Dude relax, it’s just a video game. Oops sorry it’s just a Reskined Lazy made game.

2 RepliesAlot is di*k comments here because apparently it's not okay to like a game enough to say something on a Feedback Forum when leaving. Because it's apparently great you're leaving don't let the door hit you on the way out mentality of who cares if people leave. People say the "Bungie Haters" are the sole reason for the toxicicity of this community? They should look closer to themselves instead.

Same here. Played since Destiny 1 and I'm just done with some of Bungies stupidity. 6 yrs to balance Match making and they still cant do it. Lmao. Pathetic.

Godspeed, fellow and former guardian. May the traveller bless you.

Agreed for the most part. In D1 I always used to hop on with something in mind to do, a goal to reach..etc. Now I just hop on for whatever reason there is, I got some free time, play Pvp for absolutely no reason, nothing to do in PVE apart from the new exotic quests. It's become more like a chore than a videogame.

1 ReplyIf the lore continues like what they did with saint and Osiris I’m going to leave. Your doing the right thing, good luck out there guardian.

Nothing wrong with that. Best thing about video games is you can leave whenever you want. No strings attached. You can come back if you please and have a good time. If you’re not having fun; there is no point in continuing. I’ve been gaming since 1984. Seen a lot of games come and go. There are so many good games out there across all platforms and all generations. Anyone only playing one game is missing out on a ton of cool experiences.

3 RepliesWhen Cyberpunk 2077 drops on Dec 10th I won't be around Destiny at all. I have found this Beyond Light DLC has no depth. I have never had an empty quests list EVER!! but alas this DLC has nothing to do in it and feels like an empty shell of the game I once loved. I had big expectations for BL, but yet again DISAPPOINTED!!! The only winners in this DLC are the F2P players, they didn't get ripped off for a lousy DLC. 3/10 is the best score I would give Beyond Light and that is being kind. Absolute Rubbish DLC!! PS to the others on this thread LAMENT is NOT THAT GOOD!!! LMFAO

1 ReplyEdited by lCertifiedl: 12/4/2020 7:39:01 PMI've noticed the streamers are all jumping on the I'm out bandwagon, I thought sunsetting was a good thing folks, loads of new content coming right? Lol It's absolutely hilarious, called this months ago. Edit - I should say I do think the game has some great qualities, but content and lack of is off imo.

Lament is quite possibly the best exotic sword we've had to date. Its nutty. However, it sounds like you've truly had your fill of this game. Have fun with whatever you move on to 👋

1 Reply“bYe” 👋 “dEleTe yOuR cHaRaCtErS tHeN” 🤪 “sEe yOu nExT ExPaNsIoN” 🤧 - The D1 Day 1 veteran levelling an artificial power number that has no use and grinding for reskins on the cut and paste 2014 cosmodrome

Edited by Jericho_Wolf99: 12/5/2020 12:10:19 AMHope you find a game to replace this broken dying game that will never be as great as it could be. I found buying a gaming pc and playing games that you can mod have been a great replacement for me. Modding Skyrim and fallout have been great since Sony and Microsoft have to much power to not let Bethesda allow modders for consoles to make anything other than water down mods that only allow cut content to be added back into the game. Been modding sims 4 as well and have had a much better time overall since leaving destiny and watching the game burn. Bungie killed there own game because they were listening to the wrong people and the game has become worse off than it’s vanilla version. If bungie would have ran with the intentions of we are going on a different direction and stayed on that path the game could have been better. But instead they reverted the game back to destiny 1 and players are leaving. Anyone still playing this game as if nothing is wrong your are doing a disservice to the community and the game overall and I can’t wait till the game dies again because of you. Maybe Microsoft can by this IP as well and make it better like they have been trying to do with halo.

See you next season.

2 RepliesI knew once I seen this post, the negative nerds will invade. Man its your decision to share in a forum (that's what it's made for expressing). I feel the same, even though I love the gun play of Destiny, but this DLC wasn't it. I grinded out everything I wanted in this season just to buy time for when something FRESH and new comes out (maybe Cyber Punk 2077). You know your worth and it's a game that consume time.....Bungie doesn't value that. Hopefully you find your next fix.....and see you next week for Reskin Iron Banner Day!!! Jjk 😂

1 ReplyI wish you much luck. Destiny's inconsistance (pvp) and repeating same stuff is for people with IQ 50.
-
2 RepliesEdited by hyperpool: 12/4/2020 12:26:37 PMI'm close to being my way out. played since the beta in D1 left twice but came back. but just don't see a future for Destiny. just Bungie take take take from bright dust to content. sad as this still could be a great game but there more interested in extracting cash from players then actually building the best game
-
I can cleary see from your long post how much you're passionate about Destiny! Sadly i can still see how much it pains you leave something that you loved to spend time with making memories. Wish you a goodluck whenever you'll ever come back or going to :D Take care Guardian!

9 RepliesOh look another long winded exit........... Here's the attention you ordered.

This game is nothing but a grind fest. Wish people quit acting like D1 was better. It wasn't, it's always been the same, some people just realize it quicker than others and get off the hamster wheel. Only reason I'm keeping the app installed is if I ever get really bored again. This game is seemingly always there if you feel like wasting a bunch of time.
-
2 RepliesStopped at lament. You think lament isn't good? Ok you should get off and play something else because you've lost your mind.
-
1 ReplyHope to see you back. Have been through this a few times myself. Good luck out there guardian

The drama 🙄

You could fill a library with how many novels people write on these forums.

2 RepliesEdited by Rain: 12/5/2020 2:46:26 PMLol at lament underwhelming. I'm kind of not believing the d1 thing considering there were 3 exotic swords we all grinded for. A lot of inconsistencies and just seems like an attention seeking post. How are the raids underwhelming vs d1? Just curious on your opinion considering you have 1 clear on that account. Wouldn't a "vet" post from the account?

Another guy writes a novel before leaving

3 RepliesThe swords were a terrible grind. Only a few steps felt cool but the rest were so garbage. Only dark drinker and razelighter were good too,I grinded out all three and can't even bother to remeber the third ones name. The lament is a damn hood weapon. Better than any d1 sword in my opinion.
