As we all know, Falling Guillotine is a very enjoyable sword to use in the game, and is widely considered the best sword in the game right now. It is the first sword in many, many years to actually be VIABLE in PvE modes, especially when dealing with bosses. Instead of having to use the same old boring xenophage/whisper garbage, we now have the option to actually use a sword to deal with bosses and raid/dungeon bosses. Excluding bosses that float and/or can only be damaged by ranged weapons, obviously.
Of course, to those of us who read the latest TWAB, that is all going away. Falling Guillotine is being heavily nerfed to "bring it in line" with other swords, as quoted by Bungie.
Bungie, do you not realize the reason why people didn't even USE those other swords? Why swords were not nearly as popular as before? It's because they were ALL GARBAGE!!! Falling Guillotine is the first sword in YEARS to not actually be complete trash and useless, and is a great alternative to DPS than the same, boring old xenophage/whisper garbage. Now you're limiting our DPS options again, and making swords irrelevant AGAIN!
Utterly ridiculous. The other swords should have been getting buffed, to "bring it in line" with the Falling Guillotine. Now you're nerfing your best sword in years, and swords will once again be irrelevant when Beyond Light releases. BS.

Edited by mikeyrox1234: 10/24/2020 12:28:43 PMIts not specifically Falling Guillotine that was the issue... its the perks that made it so good. Allowing us to ramp up the damage to insane numbers to the point where any difficult boss is cut to pieces 😆. Also if you want to use pre-nerfed Falling Guillotine just put on the Lucent Blade perk or High Energy Fire... literally the same thing as long as you have Charges of Light, which by the way are super easy to generate. Get 2 kills with a Masterworked Sword and now you have LucentBlade, then get another 2 kills and so on...

1 ReplyIt was fun but I do agree that it is the dominate heavy. I’m hoping to get a good looking hammerhead equivalent seeing as it’s being left behind. (Void heavy machine gun that doesn’t look like spilled legos)

Edited by Zuni: 10/24/2020 11:23:47 AMThis nerf can’t come soon enough for me. Maybe I’ll actually be able to get some bounties done myself without some kid racing through a nightmare hunt or strike immediately deleting everything with FG before I can get a single shot in. I will miss the LOLs though when it’s the meatball boss in gambit and you sword crutchers are all desperately swinging your sticks in thin air.

Just reading the title.... no. You shouldn't be able to burn through GM nightfall bosses in 8 seconds. The thing was too powerful. Everyone knew it.
