1 ReplyJust Trials, Comp, and Iron Banner. Not all of PVP. Just those 3.

6 years of asking. Wonder if we’ll get dedicated when D2 gets ported to new gen
-
The game needs dedicated programmers that make something other than bullshit for Eververse to sell. No quality programming goes into making the game better. Who knows maybe Eververse will sell better matchmaking and allow you to buy server space.
-
Absolutely. Peer to Peer is awful.
-
1 ReplyPeople have been asking since destiny 1. No change
-
3 RepliesOf course, but it would require the whole reprogramming of the entire game so its not worth rehashing sadly

1 ReplyEdited by an Ape with a d2 addiction: 6/1/2020 9:00:08 AMYes. Realistically though, bungo already has dedicated servers handling lot of what's going on on your screen in-matches. The problem's that the game's network model was made into a hybrid where game clients are still p2p authorative of their own state (location + abilities) over the other clients. Like someone stated below, bungo would have to rehaul their entire network model for the game to fix all the rubberbanding. Gargantuan effort meaning remaking big part of the game's foundation, which is why they've said it won't happen. It's better to accept that this game's just never gonna be competetive. It's not happening. It was made to be an arcade space magic FPS. Bungo's attempt to make it into esports at D2Y1 with a flawed foundation like this is a running joke among true competetive FPSs. There's a good write-up on Destiny's network model. It's old, but up-to-date because ironically bungo's still rolling with largely the same design they originally made for D1. Except the few changes at D2 launch where some hosts were moved from clients to dedicated servers: https://gist.github.com/nessus42/df399f31e4ab41192cbd51b32e9d7b73

1 ReplyPeople have been asking for it for years, realistically probably too much work to overhaul D2 to work dedicated servers into PVP. However they'd be utter fools not to build the system when the inevitible D3 comes
-
yes but problem is if there are dedicated servers this wouldnt be possible as with the game we need a whole new game for this so maybe in d3 who knows
-
2 RepliesWhen are you guys going to understand that it’s not possible. Simply. Bungie’s Destiny is based on p2p, it cannot be brought to dedicated servers. They would have to re write the whole game, when they can’t even write a quest properly. Get over it, or go play competitive games. This ain’t ever happening. Not now, not ever.
-
All PvP matches ARE hosted on Bungie servers. The issue however is that the servers don’t have full control of what happens during a match which is why there are so many cheaters.
-
Some of yall need to quit listening to this bs. Dedicated is cool too, but not without issue or major problems. 1 of many being the game going DOWN proably all the time. Keep in mind in most cases of server is really just a computer stock that's going to overheat and burn if they leave it on all day for weeks.
-
3 RepliesI'd take dedicated servers any day of the week. I would wonder why people would say no to it.
-
Dedicated servers, allow us to choose our continent/country/state and play others close to our location. I mean if Bungie wants destiny to be an official MMO then we need dedicated servers.

1 ReplyEdited by BaelTheHunter: 6/2/2020 5:22:11 PMFirst off, I agree that Crucible should be done on dedicated servers. Most of the game is Peer to Peer, though, so the data is communicated between each player's systems and not through Bungie's servers. To convert to dedicated servers, D2 would have to be large scale reprogrammed. This article is from a while back, but offers the best explanation that I have seen. https://www.pcgamer.com/the-strange-science-of-destiny-2s-uniquely-complicated-netcode/

1 ReplyEdited by SCTTSMALL: 6/3/2020 3:20:44 AMI feel like this game needs dedicated developers at this point.
-
this game needs dedicated servers for everything. however, it needs a new engine before that. a new engine will have the biggest impact on the game. it should allow for content to be made easier, faster update and patch times, and use dedicated servers to their fullest potential. hopefully, a new engine is what they are working on with their new IP. only time will tell.
-
No one has ever mentioned this, interesting thought.
-
1 ReplyYeah but it cost a lot to run and bungie is in their own so probably won’t ever get it
-
been saying that since the beginning but bungie is cheap and doesnt want to have to pay for that
Just wondering.
Ummm captain obvious, this has been posted many many many times over

Something needs to be done about our connections period, getting kicked from strikes, gambit, quickplay, comp, and dungeons several times a week, despite excellent connectivity and then being told "you are experiencing network issues," is starting to get a little old.
-
Originally I didn't care, because I was under the impression Destiny 3 would be right around the corner after the 4th DLC But now? There really isn't any excuse, especially since they're planning on continuing Destiny 2 for like... What? 6 pluse years or something?
-
why would anybody in their right mind vote "no" here? lmao
-
Dedicated servers would make cheating harder too, right?
