DO NOT SUNSET OUR ARMOR!!

Armor should not be sunset. It doesn’t impact your stupid meta or sandbox.

  • Let's not forget about the transmog we may be getting. If it actually happens then my trials gear will become an Ornament then at that point I no longer care about armor retiring. Personally I'm all for it. It was good for d1 when armor and guns were retired and we got awesome new powerful feeling guns.

    • Nobody has "perfect" armor. This change just has me saving tokens and materials. I'm done farming armor until I have to

      • Probably has more to do with the viability of the seasonal mod which will shift to being valid on pieces for roughly 12 months per season it was released if I read that correctly. I really hope everyone throwing a fit engages in end game activities as much as they say they do even though the numbers are stating. A lot of these changes won’t impact most of the player base as they don’t touch end game content. Unless someone wants to show me data that counters that point I’ll just say that this has the “potential” to be for the better, as for the worse. No point on flipping a lid until it is implemented to see what it does.

      • The way I see it, what’s the incentive for players to keep grinding for new gear once they get their perfectly rolled armor and weapons? Some people like myself care more about the looks than the stats, so we will constantly chase new gear that looks good, but what about everyone else? They’ll just keep their perfect sets and stick with those; any further armor drops will just feel useless, or simply infusion material. Sunsetting urges players to (eventually) grind out the new gear instead of sticking with the same gear for years and years (important to note that you can keep your hard-earned gear and use it for non-pinnacle activities, which is the majority of the game). And if you’re complaining because you don’t want to constantly grind for new gear, then you need to delete the game. Bungie has made it VERY clear that grinding is the name of the game, so if you don’t like grinding, then this isn’t the game for you. Move on.

        • Im fine with the armor sunsetting because they are adding transmog. As long as they reduce the masterworking cost I'm fine with it. However i find it hard to get behind weapon sunsetting because i have weapons i have grown quite attached to.

The fact of the matter is, after separating from Activision and going out on their own, I can only safely guess that Bungie is going to step away from big story-telling DLC releases and move more toward a PVP-centric game, where they attempt to build and balance the game mostly around the PVP aspects of it, very likely to the detriment of the PVE experience. They're going with the PVP model because it's easier to develop for. They don't have to write stories, build worlds, raids, dungeons and strikes. All they have to do is balance what they have and improve it. Possibly build some bigger, better maps for PVP, and be comfortable with their average of 10,000 players in the game on any given day. What they seem to fail to realize, or are unable to prepare for, is that this will mean the end of this game, and likely this franchise. THIS is why Bungie is taking on the sunsetting model. Now, I've argued against this sunsetting shit, mainly because I think there are other ways it could be addressed that don't include gimping our weapons and gear, but those ways only work if Bungie is more invested in PVE and less so in PVP. The only thing that I do understand in terms of them sunsetting our armor is, they'll have to balance the PVP and PVE experience years down the road around EXTREMELY powerful seasonal mods, like Tyrant's Surge, Heavy-Handed and Powerful Friends, while also trying to balance new mods and gear. Imagine how badly this could stack up and how confusing it could get for the dev team to think about all of these possibilities. But this leads me back to the issue of developing a game that has to balance against both PVP and PVE, and I believe Bungie's insistence on balancing for PVP over PVE will most definitely ruin the PVE experience, push casuals away, which has already been happening for over a year now, what with the playerbase being at maybe 1/4 of what it was this time last year, and the game will be in its death throws by this time next year. Casuals are the lifeblood of any game, the deciding factor, the main component, the vast majority. It's been proven time and time again that once they leave due to a lack of worthwhile content, the game in question implodes. Destiny 2 is on its way toward that eventuality in a very steady downward trend: https://steamcharts.com/app/1085660 I have alternative solutions to sunsetting our armor: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/256058446

This is Bull Shit ! They will not do a damn thing about all the F*&ing hackers in the game but want to screw with our armor and collections. FU Bungie ! Do us a favor and remove any rewards from PVP if you cant FIX it. Do not require me do to PVP if you will not ban or prevent all the hackers.

                • Noting wrong with expressing your opinion, but do yourself a favor and pay no attention to people that are just trolling. You're right, this is a bad move because they don't "need" to cap all of it. And if anyone says they do, just ignore them. This is just this company getting ready to sell back to you what you've already acquired with thousands of duplicates, and tell you they have a "duplicate protection system".

                • For me the issue ain't sun setting armour because a lot of people simply won't be able to keep up gearing up 3 class all the time with top end stat rolls do something will have to change with that system for it to work, the issue is sun setting weapons crucible, strikes an gambit are largely looked at core activities an things to do outside of them are reckoning, forges an menagerie, but sun setting weapons destroys 50% of the content in this game because they aren't gonna have gear dropping of level an no way bungie is capable at this point to add that much content into a dlc to counteract the lose in content that will happen with this change.

As someone who changes their armour every season anyway, this doesn’t effect me too much in practice. Definitely not masterworking it now. But in principle, the only reason(s) this could be happening are: 1) because of seasonal mods 2) because transmog can be bought with silver. And bungie wants people susceptible to this practice to purchase it more than once. Both are shitty reasons imo
