I think refer a friend was for if you help a friend that buys the game. Base game is free, you can't help your friend without rewards?

lol I think the promotion was definitely monetarily motivated but the idea behind said promotion was to encourage veterans to reach out and help new guardians learn the basics of the game. And I’m sure Bungie would still like people to “refer-a-friend” to their free to play game.

Refer a friend was a thing 5 months ago. They removed it. If you think they want it in place, why remove it?

As for the mission, just like in D1, it was a promo. You’re asking why is it not an ongoing mission? Why was it time gated? Well, because that’s not how promos ever work. lol
