I'm on ps4 and my weapon is sword and shield. I was adventuring the area and was watching monsters attack each other (how cool) and was picking up parts here and there. I was also running dual swords too.

I main 6 or 7 weapon types depending on the monster and how I like to play. Favorites are insect glaive, longsword, hammer and the light bowgun.

Thanks for the invitation! I have a friend (that I meet on this board) that said he would like to jump back into MHW.., and another friend (that replied to this post) thinking of jumping back in. We could have a full squad as soon as my newbness goes away. I'll add you when I get home.

Okay. Having a full squad to hunt is a lot of fun, And you can learn a lot by playing with other hunters and talking to them during the hunt. And don't worry about being inexperienced or something like that, when I began playing monster hunter world I never had played a monster hunter game in my life and had a hard time with anjanath (first test monster in the game, and a brick wall for some players). Now I have played the game for more then 600 hours and have killed or captured every monster a lot of times(solo and with squads) and I am in the proces of learning my 8th weapon to use (hunting horn). Hope to hunt with you soon.

Edited by UnwiseGeoduck84: 2/11/2020 12:44:58 AMIn response to some roadblock monsters, they are, in my experience, anajanth, barroth, rathian, legaina, odogaron, and nergigante.
-
Nergigante is the easiest of the elder dragons in my opinion, but I used a hammer a lot during that time and the area where you fight him is hammer slide friendly to put it mildly, so that is probably the reason for that. For the rest I played most the story with a team of 4 players so I have not had any real problems with monsters as road blocks. I still had some monsters (like kirin and teostra, azure rathalos) that I did not like to fight and had some trouble with solo. In iceborne I avoid doing rajang or both the zinogres's solo because I don't enjoy those fights solo.

Edited by UnwiseGeoduck84: 2/6/2020 11:28:13 PMDual blades best weapon. Change my mind.
-
I didn't hate the dual blades, I just liked the S&S better. Although....I didn't know you could sharpen your blades while in combat, I might have been having a bad experience due to stupidity. I'll try then again at some point.
-
For me it was the reverse. Tried sword and shield for a bit saw dual blades, and never looked back

I just pick up insect glaive last night and was having some fun with vaulting over the monsters. I'm liking this game more and more everyday!
