“They tease us with a life we once knew, prying into our minds and attacking our most vulnerable points”
It woulda hurt but it could have been a power move. I also thought the raid would have been our old bosses with slightly different mechanics, or atheon making fun of our grenade cheese (which I still do in cp3)
Just thought of this while reading through some eris lore.

Edit 1:
Or since the darkness took our form in the end of the campaign..why haven’t we fought ourselves or our fireteam members in a raid encounter?
Cool concept from WP Scorpion Wind
I think it would have been really intense and a good opportunity if the darkness had embodied Cayde when they met with us on the cliff rather than us [the protagonist]. HERE
Edit 2: what about the iron lords from d1? Bring the nightmares of our leaders so that we can get them back into the storyline. The only reason we felt something for cayde is because he was actually present. And the iron lords were such a cool concept. Why only bring Eris’ past when we can bank everyone’s??

1 ReplyA Hunter You make some valid points and i agree that eververse must be removed from this game but,The Black Garden may not stay among us for long. Something has begun to repair the schism torn by its destruction. Vex now flood the Garden channels to protect it. We must stop the weavers before they seal the Garden and begin to summon back its heart.

2 RepliesWhy would he be a nightmare? He was our friend he did not hurt us in any way. It hurt us when he died I still have flashbacks I will never recover 100%.😭😭
-
5 RepliesBecause Cayde isn't really dead, obviously. He made a copy of his consciousness and transferred it to a Frame shortly before heading off to the prison of elders. That frame was then captured by Emperor Calus and dipped in gold as a hidden 51st tribute. When we manage to unlock the Tribute, we can inspect the gold-dipped frame and Ghost will kindly inform us that there seems to be some activity coming from the tribute. We do some guardian-shit and the Cayde-clone will be like "hey, buddy, what am I doing here?" Boom. Nailed it.

2 RepliesEdited by Zenako Kiriota: 11/15/2019 2:28:44 PMWe've never faced an AI guardian in destiny I doubt we ever will in destiny 2, I was hoping we'd get to face uldren in forsaken but never happened. They probably can't be bothered to make the AI for enemy guardians because in their eyes it'd take to much work, plus they haven't added any new enemies in a long time not unless you count the scorn.

I may be 😉

3 RepliesI thought it was gonna be full of my ex girlfriends! Hey-O! Im here all week folks!

I wonder if the darkness wants us so it decided pissing us off would work against its goal

Edited by YATM: 11/15/2019 5:20:17 AMPlease no more Cayde. Nolan North is great and all but his Cayde-6/Nathan Fillion impersonation is horrible. Unless Nathan came back of course.

8 RepliesI’m assuming this wasn’t possible because Cayde was a guardian and the hive can’t use a being of light. Interesting idea tho.
-
Bungie: "Cayde? Nahh... Here's Fikrul"
-
1 ReplyAs I was watching the final cutscene of the base Shadowkeep 'campaign', I was hoping we'd at least face the...
Nightmare of Yourself
It was leading up to it and everything, but no. It just dumps you back with Eris. How anti-climactic.

One good idea from another post 》》
Epstein didnt kill himself
2 RepliesEdited by WP ScorpionWind: 11/15/2019 4:39:29 AMI think it would have been really intense and a good opportunity if the darkness had embodied Cayde when they met with us on the cliff rather than us [the protagonist]. HERE is actually a good image made by a fan of what they could have looked like. I think this would have made an excellent idea and was a miss opportunity as it was the death of cayde that really sparked the first sign of darkness within us. Had they come to us with the face of our fallen (and to many beloved) friend it could have spark our internal darkness once more, not only from our anger of the lose but also in our anger in them defiling cayde's name, which he could have used to his advantage in his we will fall to the darkness speech.

3 RepliesIts not a nightmare if I know he's gonna ask to borrow money
-
4 RepliesHold on he’s gonna return or at least someone relative to Cayde in the near future. Looking at the Deep Stone Crypt.
-
1 ReplyI expected a shade like the ones Eris has since WE were the ones who didn't make it in time to save him.
-
4 RepliesWe are missing rise of iron raid bosses.
-
2 RepliesSaid it from the start, massively missed opportunity. Should have been a nightmare cayde in the final cuts end.
-
For every moment you think Cayde could be reintroduced, just remember the last time you thought that, and Bungie missed the opportunity
-
3 RepliesWe’re about to “set the timeline right” in the next season... maybe we change the timeline, come back and Cayde is waiting for us at the tower standing in front of a memorial to Zavala and Ikora. Oh wait... story telling in game isn’t complex enough for something like that. We would need to read about that in some lore that’s on a piece of Eververse armor.
-
Same! I was really hoping that and it would have been such a good plot point that they completely missed out on

Edited by Caggus: 11/15/2019 1:04:44 AMThe Nightmares have been kinda underwhelming honestly. Yeah sure I get the concept of bringing back old enemies our guardian put down but most of them are just so irrelevant I’m not sure why they’re back. It also doesn’t make sense from a lore standpoint because realistically the pyramid would be trying to -blam!- with us as much as possible. How do you do that? Torment us with dead guardians and allies or even apparitions of our friends that we must fight. Bringing back that one gate lord I 2 shot with a blue rocket launcher isn’t going to -blam!- with me it’s just going to make me think who is this guy again? Because he was so unremarkable. Eris is tormented by her fallen comrades, why not us?
-
I was hoping the Nightmare of Cayde would make an appearance in the 980 Nightfall and help me kill some Champions.
-
Edited by Rainey: 11/14/2019 10:20:41 PMHe's going to be the final raid boss of the last raid called The Architects.

3 RepliesThe Pyramid tortures us with things we're afraid of (supposedly anyway. Who's afraid of Zydrian or whatever that Gatelord's name is). We aren't afried of Cayde so why would there be a Nightmare of him to fight? At worst he'd be a Spector tormenting us for not being able to save him.
