I'll cut to the chase.
Everyone's sick of Recluse and Mountaintop.
Oh strike? Recluse and MT
Nightfall? Recluse and MT
Menagerie? Recluse and MT
Shattered Throne? Recluse and MT
Crucible? Recluse and MT
Gambit? Recluse and MT
Raids? YOU GUESSED IT
It's boring. It's really really boring.
I accept people having a bit of a honeymoon period with it, and having fun, but when it's the meta weapon in EVERY mode, you have a problem.
We need to address the main issue.
You CAN NOT continue to balance the game as a WHOLE.
IT. DOESNT. WORK.
Different modes require individual balancing. You can't just shove a weapon out, and go "hope it works".
And that's not to say you can't have specific weapons that are better in Modes, but the way Recluse and MT work in PvP, translates VERY DIFFERENTLY to PvE.
Hell, it's used LESS in PvP, because the perks aren't balanced in a mode where getting a kill is CONSTANT, and a weapon that usually only has 2 shots, now has 15+.
This is why Rampage works, and Kill Clip works. They're perks built around being more viable in different pieces of content, yet for Pinnicle weapons, you've thrown that design rule out of the window, by just going "AHHH, I DUNOO DO X MORE DAMAGE"
Revoker is a GREAT example of a weapon built for PvP.
Granted, special ammo is F*CKED in PvP so a free shot is pretty pointless right now, but the effort was there.
Taking one look at other Pinnicle weapons, sees their main issue as well. Wendigo is good in concept, but if you have an exotic without a catalyst, it's worthless.
Hush is interesting, and some people may make it work, but for a GAMBIT weapon?
Everything in Gambit is so aggressively tanky, a bow that shoots fast isn't exactly high value.
Loaded Question is good, in concept, but half the reserves are worthless because the gun has a clip of SEVEN SHOTS, which doesn't even fit the design of the weapon, and makes it's nonsense in any content without excessive special ammo available.
The fact is, these weapon don't feel like rewards reflective of the mode you get them from.
The only one that does is 21 Delirium, but even then, Heavy Ammo is fairly scarce, and the ammo bricks are saved almost exclusively for Truth invader ammo.
The Pinnicle weapons need to feel like something you can take into the node you got it from, and excell in THAT mode, and be average weapons everywhere else.
Nobody uses Last Word outside of PvP, there's no reason to, and nobody cares, it's a very intentionally designed PvP weapon, and everyone is FINE WITH THAT.
There's no reason Pinnicle weapons can't be the same.

8 RepliesThis is what happens when you ease up the difficulty of pinnacles. I have no sympathy for why they are rampant because the same crowd that was complaining about them were the same crowd complaining about the difficulty of earning them. The top 3% aren't the one with pinnacles its litteraly half the community and its only going to increase come shadowkeep because they are making the loss detriment even less.

1 Reply“I can’t get it therefore no one should be able to” That about sum it up?
-
9 RepliesOhh look a other classic case of play how I want you too
-
3 RepliesAre you using recluse and MT as examples because you don’t have them Or are we not gonna address how flawed that would be with gambits weapons or vanguards. Your pointing at the best but if they get capped you have to think about the wider aspect and effect, loaded question is strong in the crucible and so is breakneck for PvE. And your really going to use a weapon that’s been designed that way for what five years against a 900rpm smg and a breach launcher.

The Recluse issue would be solved in one second if it just couldn't activate its own perk.
-
It would be pretty easy to just reduce their effectiveness a bit.
-
2 RepliesWell the funny part is that nobody actually runs mountaintop/recluse in the crucible. You know the game mode that they were made for.
-
whoa whoa whoa! hold up! I use recluse and izanagi in shattered throne thank you very much
-
3 RepliesIt's funny everyone lost their minds when random rolls went away, but most of the same people only use pinnacle weapons/exotics with fixed rolls. You might sneak in one good weapon with random rolls from a drop, but most of it's all the same fixed roll weapons.
-
3 RepliesI like using my weapons where ever I want. Bungie will nerf guns soon. Remember whisper of the worm?
-
4 RepliesThey just need to have the best guns available in both pve and pvp. No need to ruin the guns. W need more great guns. Doctrine of passing adept was a pinnacle. You could get regular doctrine from bounties and soulstealers from CoE. Messenger adept had the hopscotch. Rather they go that route. Make pinnacles and make them great. But have knock off versions in other areas of the game.

4 RepliesEdited by Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 8/29/2019 1:14:46 PMThe last thing this series needs is MORE restrictions. 🤦♂️ It’s already nearly suffocating itself with rigidity. It needs to go in the other direction. More options, more paths of progression/acquisition, more freedom, more openness. It’s a wonder the game can even breathe sometimes.

2 RepliesI mean don't most games have the "ultimate" kind of weapon(s) that are supposed to be better than the rest? Even games like division had "The best weapon" (which ironically was an SMG). Just because it does more damage doesn't mean other weapons aren't viable. I have MT and Recluse but, I prefer Breakneck, Loaded Question and Anarchy/Prospector, personally.

9 RepliesDamn sorry to say but what people say about weapons in this game is just stupid, the pvp game as far as weapons go is more on point then ever in this game, I know that because I played with weapons I had until I got the pinnacle weapons. The ammo economy is about to be nerfed come 10/01/2019, they are making armor 2.0 to make crucible more controlled the only thing armor 2.0 has going for it, other than that I will say armor 2.0 will also be a disaster destiny has always had an ammo economy issue in crucible, i e work around to get special ammo like remember when everyone would start trials with icebreaker or sidearms then switch upon death to their weapon of their choosing(work around) enough of crucible talk you’ll see people when they launch shadowkeep and it’s a communal heavy brick once again and your match is dictated by who stops heavy I mean what teammate forgoes heavy to slam six waiting Guardians at a heavy brick, but it actually will change in that it’s a timed thing now and smart people will learn to not bunch up on heavy so I don’t get nova bombed from across the map( remember all those videos of people getting a team wipe popping nova 100m away over buildings and walking away knowing they are all sitting there) they are going to make pvp slower and slow your super regen ability regen soon! Heavy will be out of play except once a game no more who lost heavy where was it and what scavenger perks and gun does that person have. Long story short I talk too much!
