Crucible is too reliant on Close Range Combat

The vast majority of crucible is - shotguns - Submachine guns (or just recluse actually, most are still mediocre) - Shoulder Charge Part of the problem is the map design for a majority of the game; there isn't enough Wide open spaces / lanes to give a reason to use long-range weapons There is also the issue of things like Scout Rifles, snipers, and even breach-grenade launchers to an extent not being optimal, or rather simply being outclassed by things like Pulse Rifles and Fusion Rifles Thoughts?

  • Shotguns are what i see mostly now being "camped" on... Every now and then i get hit by a fusion. A month or so ago all i saw was NF and Lunas. Crucible qp is a stomphouse... I really hate doing chores there. Rumble seems better... I think bungie should change qp to SOLO entrance only and force teams to comp. I mean isnt that the point of comp? Matchmaking will never return to qp so maybe bungie needs to open the play grounds of control/clash to seperate game portals and add matchmaking to those individually like d1. I wait for IB to really play. Qp sucks right now.

I also want SBMM added back to Destiny.

        Smgs besides recluse are actually not as bad as some people make them out to be. Antiope and even foggy notion are still viable options in my opinion

      • Ironic because 30 meter Hand Cannons and Snipers are the meta and shoulder charge is a crutch that most of the time gets you screwed more than it pays off.

          • This season I have seen a lot of snipers actually and think they are quite prevalent in the meta. I also seem to get into a lot of primary battles still with pulses and handcannon’s being king. I do think map design does play a roll as well as a lot of long range weapons such as scouts being not quite as competitive (although 150 rpm ones are secretly great). For me, I don’t think it’s too much and I wouldn’t want to see a shotgun or recluse nerf or a sniper rifle buff. Scouts, autos, other SMGs and sidearms could be raised and the range capped on pulse rifles and high impact fusions.

              I mainly snipe and I think it's good thats its mainly short to mid range in crucible because shotgun/handcannons have a higher skillgap than scouts/pulses. And good snipers can easily compete while using snipers anyways

                  Haven't really had a problem with short range stuff. I snipe 99% of the time, and i just have a last word, HC, or 540 pulse for the med/short range engagements. If I get titan charged while sniping I was in a bad position, that's on me not the map. People try to just stand there most of the time and expect to get 3 tap headshots from hc's or other guns that can't kill before a titan gets 2 feet away to knock them into next week. If you want to play the lane game, then learn to shoot and move. This ain't some cheap fps knockoff like apex or pubg. You gotta move, it's like old COD4. Maps are roughly the same size, and still there were snipers. Work on the flick shot, you can't always drag and snipe. This game is just really fast paced and it's not for everyone to pick lanes with snipers and then move to not get rushed. Distance is the name of the game. Outrange them and you'll win those 1 v 1's every time.

                • It’s not “part of the problem” It is the problem. Map size and map design can directly dictate weapon loadouts and playstyles.

                • Here's the thing man, when CQC isn't the optimal way to play, guardians tends to stand in straight lines, firmly grasping each other's penises and then shooting as one.

                • Quick play? Maybe? I still see a lot of pulse rifles and now Snipers. I feel quick play allows for different play styles. Im enjoying hand cannons with icarus grip and pulses or scouts tonight and doing fine. We are over thinking quick play too much. Its a casual mode. Enjoy it. Some people like to play sweaty some dont. Do you.

                  • Snipers, scouts, and 4 burst pulses (and Vigilance Wing) can handle the long range. I know people are calling scouts underpowered, and they're right in PvE, but in PvP I see people cleaning up with 150s, (and MIDA)so I dont know how much more damage people think they need. While I was doing the Revoker quest, I used Redrix and Beloved. The close range weapons didnt give me too much trouble.
